Food here is great. What ever you order, from sandwiches, burgers, melts, and fries. The biggest problem I have is there hours. They're closed during their business hours with no notice or only a notice at the door. I'be been there 7 times and only ate there twice. I understand the owner is the only worker and perhap she has to take care of things outside the business or there no business so you close early. Put on your answering machine that you close. I'm local and assume you are and only want your business to do well. read more

My boyfriend, son and I had lunch here today. It was the best! Our waitress was great and was very attentive. We got 2 pork butt sandwiches, the original Mac sandwich and an order of garlic fries. The owner is the sweetest! There is a beautiful custom bar table as you walk in to this quaint small business. Good food, too! I recommend the Mac and cheese, which my hubby got and it was tasty. I got the patty melt, also good, although I prefer the bread a little more crispy. Neighborhood was a little rough, we witness a theft from the little thrift store on our walk in. The owner is a jerk. I made a special request and was told ( very rudely) no. I accepted the denial but without knowing I was standing behind her the bartender told the waitress that I was a moron for asking. As I was explaining to the bartender how rude she was ( yes it got a little loud. Truly just a little.) the owner came from the back and told me to get the fuck out! I was then told by a waitress that they didn't want my kind " fucking around here". I asked " my kind ?" " you mean the type of person that is willing to spend $23 on a burger ?" I was again told to get the fuck out. As I was walking through the door I was accosted by 3 men sitting at the bar. After exchanging 's he came after me. I stood my ground bit his buddies grabbed him. The owner closed and locked the door still swearing at me. I can't help but wonder what they would do to someone that actually caused a problem. We paid Mad Mac's a visit over the weekend. When we arrived around noon the place was almost empty, by the time we left it was almost full. Service started out okay, but since there was just one server as business picked up attentiveness kind of disappeared. Our drinks dried up and we had to wave down our server to get refills. The food (burgers for us) was really pretty good. The fries my wife ordered were fresh, hot, and crispy. My potato salad was tasty, I asked, and yes it is made in house. The place is very clean, not overly decorated, and offers plenty of room to ensure comfort. We'll probably be back. It's definitely worth a visit! read more

This was a great discovery! Barbecue done on the spot, delicious cole slaw and potato salad, and the best fries. We had the barbecue beef sandwich dressed with cole slaw and homemade barbecue sauce. Wow, what a hidden gem! This place should be packed all day with the amazing and creative sandwiches they serve! There is a sandwich that combines hamburger, smoked pork, bacon and Mac and cheese and it's to die for! Came here while visiting my Aunt. The mac n cheese was a bit bland. The pork was very flavorful! The seasoned french fries, yum and im not a huge fan of french fries. The lady server was excellent, kept our drinks full and was super friendly. This is the old pizza place and wow have they fixed this place up. All newer stuff inside including a bar. Super friendly staff. The restaurant is a good size and not crowded. Outdoor seating is pet friendly. The garlic fries were delicious and had no greasy taste. They were perfect. There are some vegetarian options, and they have about 8 beers on tap. Apparently they serve great margaritas but I can't confirm that. read more

My husband and I were hungry and we just moved to Upper Lake Allier this year. This is seriously the best tri tip sandwich I've had! It was loaded with tri tip, the meat was cooked so perfect! Now that's a sandwich!! I always want good bbq and it's so hard to find. We decided to drive around the lake and find a cute restaurant that looked good. Well as we were coming into long stretches with not much to see we decided to google restaurants near me. We saw this on line and decided to try it. I was even more excited when we sat down and the menu had BBQ on it!! My husband had the Mac and cheese pulled pork sandwich and loved that too! We will definitely be back! The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the ranch dressing, it's a little too peppery for me. But I'll still rate this a 5 star because most people aren't like me and don't like pepper . My husband and I were driving through Clearlake after spending a few days in Mendocino celebrating our wedding anniversary and we were craving a burger. But, we were like where is a decent place for a burger in the Clearlake area..probably nowhere. We drove right past Mad Mac and I suggested we turn around and try it. We were not disappointed!! It's a really cute family owned place with all sorts of fresh herbs out on the patio that they use in their daily specialties and regular food menu. The burgers came out just like we ordered them and thick and juicy. The fries were crispy and fresh. You could tell that they change their oil daily! Staff was super friendly and they have a full bar with generous pours of fresh squeezed margaritas!! It's definitely a must stop on your way through!! My girlfriend and I like to take a drive to Clearlake about once a month and we always like to stop at Mad Mac's Bar & Grill in Clearlake Oaks. We have our dog with us and we love to sit out on their nice patio that's full of beautiful flowers and the owner has a nice little herb and vegetable garden growing in pots. The food is always outstanding. We splurged and get the decadent Paddy Mac sandwich or the Mad Mac with pork. Both are so delicious with the homemade macaroni and cheese in it, it's is so delicious. We stopped in Saturday evening of memorial weekend and the place was hopping with local and out of town folks that were enjoying the great atmosphere and food. We don't drink when we're traveling but some folks on another table ordered some margaritas and they were raving about how delicious they are. I was talking to our server and asked about the mean and nasty man that stormed out of the restaurant and left the parking lot so fast he almost hit all the cars in the parking lot and squealed his tires flying dirt and gravel everywhere. So she told me he wrote a nasty review on yelp. So I got on yelp and read the review. Wow I'm glad the owner threw him out for talking ugly to his wife and I mean ugly. No one should or has to take being talked to like that. So this is how the seen went. We were there in April on a beautiful evening sitting on the patio enjoying dinner and I went in to use the restroom and on my way in there was a man talking really ugly and mean to the bartender because he called in a to go order which was the paddy mac sandwich, but when he came in to pick up his order he asked if he can have the macaroni on the side. She told him nicely " no we don't make that sandwich with the mac's on the side". He said really mean and got right up in her face, now this man is about 6'2 and 300 lbs and you can tell he's a bully and try's to push his weight around to get his way He said " it's because the cook doesn't want to put it on the side it's not because he won't. And she said nicely that's one of the sandwich's we don't disassemble and he still got mad he went out to make a phone call. He came back in and he heard the bartender say it's like ordering a cake with the frosting on the side she never called him a moron or any name. But I'm sure she was thinking of calling him a few choice names. That's when he blew his fuse and got so angry. So the owner came out and told him to get out you don't talk to my wife like that and instead of leaving the owner had to escort him out. I'm not sure who threw the first F bomb but the bully said a few himself. He definitely did not look or act disabled like he claimed to be. The sad thing about this angry man is he is missing out on such great food at this wonderful restaurant Clearlake Oaks is so lucky to have a restaurant like this. I live in Yuba City and if they were there they would be packed all the time. Keep rocking on Mad Mac's you have a great establishment and we love our little road trips to enjoy your food. read more

Food was great! We had the Burger and the Burger with pulled pork on top of it. Coleslaw was a little sweet for me but I know some people like that. Both were very good. Waitress was very nice. They have only been open for a couple months. They do charge extra to use a credit card but being a new business in California I understand it's hard in the beginning. Was at Mad Mac's the other night. As always the food was outstanding. Although the menu is one page there are plenty of options to satisfy anyone's particular cravings. The Lucy burger is my go-to item as it hits the spot every time. Hand-made burger with freshly grilled jalapeños and a couple of slices of American cheese. Let's not forget the homemade chipotle sauce that adorns this amazing creation. The Wings and garlic fries were top-notch as well. The customer service is the best around. Disappointed. Came to try it out with a group of 6 adults and 6 kids at opening time but basically told it would be a while because they had a large burger order. We then got our order together and waited and then went to go see if we could put order in and then was told to just wait a bit longer to put order in even though additional customers had entered. This is probably the best food I've had in Clear Lake, and my family has been coming to this town for over 30 years. The truffle fries are truly something special and the wings were cooked perfectly. My brother got the Popular Mad Mac sandwich and said that it was phenomenal. We also noted that the ranch and blue cheese dipping sauces tasted homemade and were some of the best we've had. Fantastic comfort food, satisfying the belly and the heart, served and operated by the owners, it really doesn't get better than that. The sandwiches are large, so definitely can be shared, and the sides are homemade all the way.
