Rich, classic diner flavors. The Trejo's Chicken Sandwich was almost perfectly executed: well-balanced and quite tasty, albeit the bread was a little too buttery. The Roberts Omelette was equally flavorful and a huge portion. They definitely use great, fresh ingredients.

About 25 years ago in Taos, New Mexico, at the Thunderbird Lodge, I was a ski bum and dishwasher. There was a gringo cook who made a thing called huevos rancheros. I am slightly neuro divergent and fell in love with the breakfast treat. I am also a shining love, and when I walked in, the first thing I said to Manager Mauricio was, "We will eat here if you have huevos rancheros." I cracked an inappropriate joke, and the cook, Antonio, said, "This guy," and proceeded to make an off-menu offering that was so delicious. Lupe, the server, came back, and I am sort of an expert on this dish. I told her when she said red or green chili that in New Mexico, that's called Christmas, and yes, that was what I would have. I don't eat a lot, so I ate about a third of the plate and saved the rest for the day. I noticed that Manager Mauricio told a table of four Latin folks that they serve huevos rancheros. That is how love energy works. This gringo hippie made something that will probably now be on the menu. We love you guys, and by the way, your huevos eclipse the biggest truck balls;)

Great little diner, the food was very good & large portions, but best part was staff cause they were very friendly & joking around with us when we asked about danny trejo being owner or not. Its small inside but not noisy even full of people. They have an outside patio too.great place in clearlake if you visit, definitely recommend!

We first discovered Trejo's when in Clearlake late on a Sunday evening in November (2023) and were looking for a place to eat. We are very happy that we tried it since we have to be in Clearlake periodically right now and this place is excellent. It is now our go-to place in town. This place itself is ok; it's a small hole-in-the-wall place, fairly basic inside, but it has some outdoor seating which seems like it might be good in warmer weather. The food and service shine, though. Everything we have had has been great each time we've been there. The first time we went, it was, as I said, fairly late on a Sunday evening, about an hour before closing, and in the 30s outside but all the food came out hot and fresh, while the coleslaw, though at the end of the day,was perfect - nicely cured but still crisp. The chicken fried steak dinner is very good. The steak itself was nice, well cooked, and it came out hot and crispy, with plenty of good gravy on (4 stars, maybe 4.5). Fries were good (4). I got a side salad and although it was a simple diner salad, it was very good. The ingredients were all fresh and good quality - the tomatoes were ripe and juicy. The dressing was also good. (4). The Trejo's Chicken Sandwich is outstanding and each time we've had it, the sandwich has been consistently one of the bet sandwiches we have ever had. All of the ingredients are excellent, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The chicken is pounded thin and pan fried, the avocado just gently smashed, all the other ingredients put on perfectly. The bread is toasted, warm, and lightly crispy outside but still soft, and not hard. The chicken is hot. The lettuce is crispy and fresh. This sandwich is not only well conceived but so far has always been perfectly executed. (5 stars, and deserves more). The coleslaw is always excellent. It is always perfectly aged so the cabbage is just breaking down but still fresh and crispy. The dressing is just right and has excellent flavour. They don't put anything odd in it, either. (5 stars). The Hobo is similarly outstanding with a perfect mix of ingredients, perfectly prepared, not greasy. (5). One member of our family got the fish and chips the first time and although we did not have them, she said they were great and they looked good. Coffee is good, nothing special but hot and never weak or acrid. Service is good, friendly and enthusiastic.

Had to check out this restaurant due to the high rating reviews. It didn't disappoint in terms of the food quality. The portion sizes were generous and the pricing was reasonable. Restaurant isn't very big with only several tables inside, but there are a few outside. The staff didn't seem the friendliest and did look like they were in a bad mood. Not sure why. There were also bugs that kept flying inside.

Food was pretty good. Service was great waitresses made sure we had everything we needed. My first mimosa was a bit flat but they got me a new one.Love that they have breakfast all day The place could use some more ambiance. I would give it a try again.

I see why people love coming to this diner. The service is quick and friendly, the food is simple and delicious, the a/c is pumping inside and there is ample shaded outdoor patio seating to boot. I visited in mid June when on vacation in Clearlake. My friend recommended Trejo's for breakfast and I am so glad he did! I had a short stack of pancakes - 2 very generously sized fluffy cakes that hit the spot. My partner had the breakfast combo with two fried eggs, hash browns, rye toast and linguica sausage. Everything was cooked perfectly, nice runny egg yolk. Super tasty linguica. Very solid start to our day! Will most certainly visit again when in the area. Highly recommend!

$2.50 extra for this addition to an omelette. No thx. Omelette itself was delicious and trejos is usually top notch. But then again they do this occasionally as well.

Next day: Had the Mom's Omelet but requested Monterrey Jack cheese instead of Swiss. AGAIN, got fed a healthy, nutritious breakfast. I'm really impressed with this very welcoming and happy place. I must say, it exceeded all our expectations! We arrived slightly early, and as we waited a friendly gentleman approached us inquiring if we needed assistance. Though the restaurant had not yet opened, he kindly spoke with the staff on our behalf. He invited us to sit in the charming, shaded courtyard. Which was perfect especially since we were accompanied by our sweet Boston Terrier. Our server Kameron was exceptional, attentive, knowledgeable, and delightful. She shared fascinating details about the historic buildings and their connection to the hotel, providing us with a booklet recounting the intriguing story of the Tallman family's legacy. Kameron also recommended the Blue Wings with a sweet-spicy Asian glaze as an appetizer. Without a doubt, the best chicken wings I have ever tasted! Her suggestion was spot on, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. My husband ordered the Fish & Chips, while I savored the Crispy Chicken Salad. Both dishes prepared to perfection. Our dog Winnie was treated to a generous beef dog patty. An impressive patty that left her a very happy girl. Our experience with Kameron truly made us fall in love with Tallman's. So much so that before leaving, I immediately made a reservation for July. The same courteous gentleman who initially greeted us was there to assist with this, offering to reserve a dinner reservation for the evening we arrive. He even offered to show us one of their dog-friendly Main Street Suites. The suite was absolutely stunning. The hospitality we received throughout our visit was exemplary. I am now more excited about our upcoming stay at Tallman's than even our planned trip to the beach house in Fort Bragg. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Wing Saloon and the Tallman Hotel to anyone seeking outstanding service, exceptional food, and drinks!

We ordered pasta dishes (the Alfredo and the ravioli with white sauce), and both sauces were extremely bland. They were watery, almost milk-like, and had virtually no flavor. It was really surprising because this restaurant used to be known for its great food. We didn't say anything while we were there because it was only about 30 minutes before closing, and we didn't want to be those customers or inconvenience the staff. We simply paid our bill and left. Since the new ownership, it's clear that something has changed. Whether it's the menu, ingredients, or chef, the heart of this place doesn't seem to be the same anymore. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our go-to spots. I hope the new owners take customer feedback to heart and make improvements, because we'd love to see Blue Wing return to what made it so special.

It was a good experience, with good food and OK service. There is a dedicated lot next to the stand alone building, so parking was easy. The open sign was on, but the ambiance appeared sleepy, so guessing that it gets a lot busier later in the day. There were two people working, and once we got the front-of-house's attention, were seated at a comfortable table for 4. Complementary chips and salsa were provided Reviews and self-proclamations clearly state that birria (beef) was worth getting, so my wife got the Quesadilla Birria ($13.99), and her mom got the Camarones al Ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce $19.99). The menudo wasn't available, so I got the Pozole ($15.75) instead. They have cans and bottles of soda and beer, with a can of Coke being $2.50. Everything was good. The quesadilla was more like a grilled burrito (or chimichanga), and had been nicely crisped. My wife really enjoyed it. The shrimp plate came with rice and beans, which were OK, and choice of flour or corn tortilla (average). The large prawns were nicely cooked with a flavorful sauce. My pozole had good flavor without too much fat (the excess had obviously been skimmed) and was quite hot, though I wish it had more hominy and pork. My wife later found out that the meat used here is butchered on-site and that care is taken to remove excess fat. It really shows: all the meat dishes were not greasy and there wasn't the pools of fat that often accompany hastily prepared dishes. It was appreciated. I had a bite and it was very flavorful. The cauliflower looked like orange chicken. This dish is vegan btw. I was torn between the fish and chips and the Jalapeno Bacon burger. When we first sat down, we were starving, and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs, we ordered the poke appetizer and two honey walnut fried chicken sandwiches. Our sandwiches came out before the appetizer but once our sandwiches came, we both realized there was no way we were going to have room too also eat the pokey.
