We were up at the Lake, in Lucerne where there's not much to choose from beyond Foster's Freeze, so I turned to my trusted ally, Yelp, to help me find a good spot for a late lunch/early dinner. The Gaslight Grill popped up, about a 20 minute drive away with a four-star rating. I looked at the reviews, pics, and menu and decided to give it a try. What a fun little place! The menu is great, offering a huge array of burgers and sandwiches. I had a patty melt, prepared perfectly on grilled rye, with grilled onion, and Swiss cheese which chose to upgrade the side to onion rings. My meal was fantastic! I was shocked and surprised and elated when I took my first bite! I wasn't expecting it to be that good. Others in our party had a basic cheeseburger, reportedly also exceptionally good, alongside an upgrade of sweet potato fries, that were awesome! A hot dog served on a toasted roll with very enticing condiments and freshly fried french fries, that looked absolutely appetizing! Our six-year old enjoyed his mini corn dogs, and my adult son liked his French Dip with upgraded side of chili cheese fries. All the food was really good. The atmosphere was great. An old bar that has been transformed into more of a grill, with great selections of beer and wine; no liquor it seems, which is ok since the food is as good as it is! On to service. The staff all seem to be on the younger side, but they are doing a great job with customer service! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely return. Just left there, got the special as a to go order. I live locally and try to support this business. My total was $16.31, gave the waitress a $20, usually I would leave the change as my tip...but she hands me $3 and thanks me for my business. I asked for my receipt just make sure I heard her right and it says change $3.69. So instead of making a fuss I left, her tip was the 69 cents she was trying to short change me... read more

Staff was friendly for seating but it went downhill from there. Waited 35 mins for an appetizer that was delivered like-warm and waited an additional 45 minutes for our food before giving up. When my husband went in to pay for our appetizer and drinks, the staff was goofing off and our burger patties had just been put on the grill. She was rude about removing the burgers from our bill, and seemed more interested in playing around/flirting with other staff members. Was recommended by a friend and I was really hopeful about getting a great burger. Ended up going to Pogo's instead next door where the staff was very nice and attentive to our order right away. read more

Tasty burger and fries. A really greasy spoon. Seating right on the street--quite gritty. Very dark bar inside. Not my preferred atmosphere, so I've only been there once. But, driving by, you can see it does decent business. read more

Took to long to get our food and the group that came in after us got their order taken and their food before us. I ordered the patty melt. Pretty tasteless burger and too many onions, which were not fully cooked on the patty melt. Fries were over fried. The one positive was the prices, very reasonable. read more

I had a cheeseburger and fries from here earlier. I asked them not to put mayonnaise on the burger, but they did, which was a bummer. I discarded the bottom bun covered in mayonnaise and salvaged the rest of the burger. The fries were very good. Service was friendly and pleasant, but our food took 35 minutes longer than anticipated. If you're still COVID-conscious, I wouldn't recommend eating inside, as it's not well-ventilated, and it was absolutely packed when we stopped by. It was okay. We went on a Saturday at lunchtime probably around 12:30 and was starving. It was open seating so we could sit wherever. The gal who got our drinks was bustling and was still attentive to us. However, we waited forever for our order to be taken. Like 30 minutes until another waitress came to take our order and we waited another 30 minutes for the meal to come out. For the price, it was not worth it. My partner asked for a medium rare and they gave him a well done burger. Since we waited so long, it wasnt worth it to wait again to ask them for another patty since we were starving. I attempted to make eye contact with several waitresses but some kept moving on. I agree with some of the reviews that the "regulars" were definitely friendly with all the staff and seemed to get better service. In all honesty only with fries were good and I left desiring never to come back. I understand when we got there that they were busy but after 15 minutes of us being there, there was really no excuse as the crowd died down. Glad everyone else had good experiences but it left a bitter taste in my mouth. Probably in the day and time we went just happened to be a flop which I understand but we drove out 3 hrs to be in lake port of something and to grab "quick" bite was not quick at all. read more

Food is intermittent services. Intermittent ambience is good. Cooks are always busy with staff and bartender seem always busy. It's very loud in there to have a conversation which is hard when you're on a date outdoor Siri it's a good choice for those on jury duty or those working nearby. Wait time was extremely long, but service was friendly. Our order came out wrong the first time so we had to go in and order again, however the new order also came out wrong. There was no apology or recognition of mistake except to reassure me that the second order was made correctly, even though it was not. Brick building with good seating and great atmosphere for everyone. Came in during the gaslight grill takeover (didn't know was happening) and the servers and all staff were wonderful and ready to help. I grabbed a Megathrust IPA and it was a great recommendation by the staff. I was in town for work and wanted a burger, so I decided on Gaslight Grill. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the food is fantastic. Not terribly expensive either. Husband had blue bacon burger with fries...he also demolished it, really enjoyed. My pregnant daughter had the bacon cheeseburger with fries, she really enjoyed it as did the baby. Really enjoyed this place. There are a few outdoor tables but inside is clean and just the right amount of lighting. Classic long bar with a couple of large tables and a half a dozen 4 seater tables. We have been searching all over the lake for good "American " good. I had a special request of a chicken sandwich with no Mayo but added mushrooms. The chicken was very nicely done and the sandwich was delicious. My husband had the patty melt and sweet potato fries...best sw fries I've ever had! Staff was very nice and accommodating. the place is filled with "regulars". most of the crowd is friendly. thier prices for beer or ale outside of happy hours are atrocious. the TV is almost exclusively tuned to some sports game or car racing. the barmaids are generally friendly enough but a few have some real attitudes. watch out for Ashley. the food is plain and overpriced And nothing special. they have a decent selection of beer / ale with an occasional appearance of some new brewery trying to make a name for itself, which is usually heralded by some fanfare along with a "complimentary" glass with the company name emblazoned upon it. The crowd is generally affable particularly the regulars, who seem to know each other well. Some people come in and quietly dine or imbibe maintaining a low profile. No live music (check in on Andre's for that), and in fact no music at all. Just games and cars that race around a track. Overall, it is an ordinary small town watering hole. During warmer months we sat outside and it was nice to watch downtown bustle by, especially on a Bass tournament weekend when all the trucks are cruising by with their boats in tow. The most horrible experience with the waitress - when asking about the charge for the add-on salad on the bill, her response was "ooooh, you are trying to get a free salad!" Who in the world says that to a customer?!! The manager wasn't any better either. I will never be back after being treated this way.
