Great food and a really fun ambiance! The drink selection is fun and everything was really good. We specifically loved the short rib ragú pasta and the thin crust Italian pizzas were some of the best pizza we've had in the area.

Truly enjoyed my time at Mad Nice. Sat at the bar and was greeted immediately. Actually had two bartenders assisting. The first, I now regret not asking his name, gave me a taste of a beet infused mezxal they are testing for spring and offered to make me a cocktail after seeing that I loved it! The cocktail was amazing. Something I couldn't wait to try again. Asking what the name of it is, he said he made it up. It wasn't one on the menu. So we decided to call it The Melanee, after me of course . I wasn't all that hungry but I ordered a pizza but while waiting I had some of the salad my sister in law ordered. It was delicious. Again, didn't catch the name but it had nuts and radishes tossed in a very different tasting ranch dressing. The pizza was what you'd expect it to be in a top tier Italian restaurant. Crust was just thick enough to hold up the heavy sauce and the toppings were quality. But, what took me over was dessert. So glad Tiana (fantastic server, I did get her name) suggested we take a look. I'm a sucker for a good Gelato and once I saw it on the menu I had to get it. But all I saw was for $25. Asking the crafter of The Melanee about it, he explained it was huge. I only wanted a taste so he pointed out The Sando. Perfect choice! It was everything I could have asked for and more! The almond brittle I wished I could buy in bulk! Will be going back for a few more cocktails and to order dessert first!

Mad Nice absolutely lives up to its name -- stunning space, great energy, and genuinely excellent food. We ordered the octopus, gem salad, Guanciale pizza, and duck pastrami cavatelli, and every dish delivered. The octopus was perfectly tender with a light char and great balance. The gem salad was crisp, fresh, and surprisingly addictive. The Guanciale pizza stood out with its nutty richness from the pine nuts, balanced by the sweetness of figs and a light, crispy crust. The duck pastrami cavatelli was rich, savory, and comforting without feeling too heavy. Beyond the food, the space is beautiful and thoughtfully designed. There's a coffee shop that's great for daytime visits, plus a private dining room that would be perfect for birthdays, group dinners, or special events. The atmosphere feels elevated but still warm and fun. Service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience felt polished without being stuffy. A great spot for date night, celebrations, or hosting out-of-town guests -- definitely one I'll be coming back to.

If you're looking for one of the best dining experiences in Detroit, Mad Nice is not to be missed. Mad Nice delivers modern Italian fusion with a handcrafted feel, and the food is truly exceptional. The lobster appetizer alone is one of the top five dishes I've eaten in my life. It's that good. The pizzas deserve their own moment. We've eaten pizza all over Italy, and somehow these stand right alongside the best. The sourdough crust is light, perfectly balanced, and the ingredients are incredibly fresh. Every bite feels thoughtful and intentional. The atmosphere is just as special as the food--inviting, lively, and perfect for gathering with friends. It's one of those places you want to come back to again and again. What really elevates the experience, though, is the hospitality. Our favorite server Rob and manager Jeff are masters of what I would call "unreasonable hospitality." They remember our favorite dishes, surprise us with things we love even when we don't order them, and never let us leave without a special touch. It's rare to feel that genuinely cared for at a restaurant. And don't overlook brunch. Their house-made sourdough bagels--served in a variety of creative ways--are phenomenal and worth the visit alone. Detroit has an incredible food scene, and Mad Nice is absolutely one of the standouts.

The vibe was fantastic -- fresh, fun, clean, and full of personality. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel good walking in. The space is an influencer's dream too, with plenty of spots to grab a great photo. The staff was amazing. From the hostess who gave some great recommendations to our waitress who steered us toward the Street Waffle we're still talking about. They really went above and beyond, which is rare to find these days. The food was a HIT! The Street Waffle was crisp on the outside, light and fluffy inside, and just perfect with a little butter and syrup. We also tried the Dirty Diner Pie and Omelette, both delicious and full of flavor. Overall, it's a spot I'd definitely come back to -- perfect for brunch, drinks with friends, or grabbing a bite before catching a show. I could totally see this place fitting right in at Somerset or Birmingham.

This has only been my second time here but I absolutely ADORE this restaurant! We came for brunch on our anniversary weekend and enjoyed our entire experience here! I love all the pinks and greens in there. The interior is so aesthetically pleasing! We were given an anniversary card which is super sweet! I'm grateful for the extra thought:) We both loved our coffees! We both were given little blondies with them. Which is so neat! I don't think of anything that could please me more than a sweet treat coming at the same time as my coffee. My bf ordered the Biscuit Sando and loved it! I took a bite and the biscuit tasted homemade and it was delicious. I ordered the Steak & Eggs Benedict. The poached egg and steak was sitting on top of croissant toast. Croissant. Toast. It was hands down one of the best Benedict's I've ever eaten. I loved the tanginess of the hollandaise too We shared a Street Waffle as a sweet treat... it was so yummy! I need the recipe haha We ended the brunch with a digestif but I'm not sure exactly what it was but it tasted amazing. Loved the atmosphere of this place, our server was incredible, & the food was delicious! Best time! Please check this place out! Loved the brunch and dinner is great too!

A lively, bright, Italian-inspired spot with a warm, welcoming energy from the moment you walk in. The hostess was fantastic, the room had plenty of tables, and the vibe felt alive without being chaotic. Smiling faces everywhere -- friendly staff and genuinely knowledgeable servers set the tone right away. The menu is broad and tempting, so naturally we had to sample a little of everything. We started with shishito peppers and grilled octopus, both absolutely outstanding. The Little Gem salad had a Caesar-style twist that worked beautifully, and the lobster salad they brought out for us was fresh, flavorful, and downright delicious. For pizza, we went with the Patate -- a bold choice with potato, Parmesan, and rosemary. Unexpected, a little wild, and surprisingly excellent. Main courses included agnolotti pasta, rotisserie chicken, and rib cap -- all cooked perfectly and worthy of a repeat order without hesitation. Service was top-notch from start to finish, and the manager Tatiana took exceptional care of us. A great experience all around and a place we'd gladly return to.

Everyone so kind and made sure we were taken care of amazingly especially the two female bartenders they were lovely and always on it. Love love love mad nice, they were more than accommodating and we will be back soon. The pomodoro pasta Omgosh AMAZING. And cacio Pepe always great. The sparkling rose and matcha also wonderful. Everything was just on point and we so appreciate it especially after 3 other restaurants turning us down, mad nice really made our night by getting us in. Mad Nice has a cafe on the rear end of it (with parking included!!!) The first dozen customers get a free bagel. The space is so cute and open and there is a big open table in the back that you can work at! The coffee is half off during happy hour and worth a yummy latte for $3. I would say I love the cafe more than the restaurant so worth the visit in the midtown area.

Been wanting to try this place for a long time, and I'm so glad we finally did for a birthday celebration. The decor and vibe inside are awesome--they completely transformed the space. The standout dish of the night was the Duck Pastrami Cavatelli with parmesan broth, cured egg yolk, and sambuca. I know what you're thinking--sambuca in pasta? But trust me, it was incredible and so creative. The flavors blended beautifully and felt like elevated comfort food. Our server was super friendly and even helped us decide on a few dishes. She mentioned they try to make everything in-house whenever possible, which is always a great touch. The pizza was also very good! One unique dish we tried but didn't love as much was the Egg Yolk Ravioli with kombucha, chili, and black truffle. Still interesting, just not our favorite. And the birthday touches were so thoughtful--a signed card from the staff, a candle in our dessert, and a chocolate piece that read "Mad Nice Birthday." Such a great experience overall. Overall, it can be a bit pricey, but this place makes it worth it.

Our server shay was the sweetest!! Came for my friends birthday dinner. We got the sourdough to start (amazing every time!!) and I went with the truffle pizza for my meal. Careful with the "aq" make sure you ask before ordering (because I didn't ) and the pizza was $60!! Ended dinner w/ an affogato. For cocktails I got the Biarritz one. Ordered it because it had basil in it & I've been on a basil kick lately!! So yummy.

Visiting Detroit and this was a nice, upscale spot with BEAUTIFUL decor and heavy Italian influence in their menu. Ordered the Motown Beets cocktail and it was refreshing and on the heavy side of liquor since it's from the Detroit inspired menu, which also included Italian and Californian inspired cocktails as well. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations, with me ending on the Rigatoni. Very rich and salty, so so hearty and yummy. read more

If we could have a meet-cute with a place, Mad Nice would be it! This place couldn't be more charming with its Italian, boho Cali, shabby chic vibe. So many beautiful shades of pink and sage...and flowers everywhere! OMG...even the booths were pink crushed velvet! We loved the blush water glasses and rose gold flatware. Wish we could take all of it home in a to-go bag! We could easily picture a bridal or baby shower in one of the private rooms. Perfect for a GNO too...or lunch with a great friend! First up...the drinks - Walking the Cinque Terre and Afternoon Seaside Lunch in Capri. Both were pretty tasty! Appetizer...Shishito Peppers - perfect amount of spice and flavor. I could eat these EVERY FORKING DAY! Lunch...we split the Shrooms pizza and Pastrami sandwich. Mmmmmm...I didn't think I'd like pastrami, yet this was AMAZING! The pizza was stellar too! Dessert...the Zeppoli - 10 little sourdough donuts with a fantastic chocolate dipping sauce. Perfection. Overall...service was impeccable and the food was impressive. We went there at the day after Christmas to scout out their place for a potential a small bridal shower for my daughter in June 2025. They did not disappoint in ambiance or food. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We def will book this space for the shower. Went for a date nice this evening. Wasn't sure what to expect. Very spacious environment. Nice lighting. Awesome open kitchen concept. Off putting scent that was being piped into the restaurant every ten minutes or so. Opted for still water. Come back to that later. Hubby ordered a peaty scotch and my first beverage was a glass of Italian red wine. Sourdough first course. 3/5. With the big sourdough boom as of late it was fair. Sweet cream butter was better than the bread Second course the egg yolk ravioli. Sauce and yolk amazing but the bottom on the pasta was a little thick rendering it too toothy Margarita pizza. Hubby enjoyed it. I felt the sauce was a little too acidic for my taste I thought for the price of the menu The staff outfits were juvenile at best. More like a prison jumpsuit. Not what I would expect when a fish dish on the menu totaled 82.00 Waitstaff was very varied in their service and abilities. Waiter behind us very informative and explained the menu. Our waitress gave no recommendations or explanations at all Opted for another drink. Gin craft cocktail. Was good. Decided not to indulge in desserts but probably could have been enticed if not just left with a menu but an explanation On to the bill. 137 and change. Ok. Higher than I would have liked. Some of the pours of scotch and whiskey were at bottle prices. Not pours. I get it. There is always a mark up. But if one pour covers the bottle price. Kinda ridiculous The kicker. After a meal of this price. To be charged for water. STILL WATER. I'm baffled to say the least. The restaurant could have promise. But won't be returning. Not recommending. read more

When I first walked in I was amazing the the decorations and the vibe of the place. Every little detail was perfect from the lighting to the seats. Been wanting to try this place for over a year. I was mostly impressed with the ambiance. The food was not bad but my only issues was that the pasta was overcooked. At a price of $30 something for a small portion of pasta I expected the pasta to be cooked al dente non the less. Also the signature cocktails were just ok & lacked a punch. Upon walking in the vibes were very sterile. We were the only table in the entire restaurant and were placed in the corner with reservations right next to the waiters computer. My girl squad threw me my baby brunch here. This restaurant is a dream. It is so gorgeously decorated with soft colors and greenery. The menu is carefully crafted. It is on the pricier end in general and mostly Italian food. I started off with one of their mocktails (earth, wind, and fire), which was incredibly refreshing and a perfect blend of flavors. I LOVED their caccio e pepe, which is an item I get everywhere it is available. Its presentation was excellent as well. I tried the pizzas my friends ordered and they were literal perfection. I can't wait to be back here. It is the perfect brunch spot, minus some of the prices. Celebrated our 4 year anniversary tonight. First time here and will definitely be back. Food was exploding with different flavors. Every bite you wanted to make sure you got a little of everything. The Ragout was amazing. We started off with Mozz and Sweet Cream app with olive sourdough. Also enjoyed the Confit Duck. Our server Rob was outstanding. In all transparency I went the first week and there were major glitches with getting things out, I am certain it has worked out the kinks. Not sure a ravioli dish with 3 pieces is worth $30+ or a chicken for $58 unless it's being split or dinner for a few nights. The service was wonderful and personable. Finally, we made it to this restaurant for a girls' night out. The ambiance was very nice. Waiter uniforms are questionable (all white): looks like either mad scientists, painters, or ppl who work in asylum. Gives a feeling of sterility. Let's talk about food. We ordered plates to share. I've never had such a bad salad (gem salad). It had a very bitter and spicy taste (from a spice) and absolutely no dressing. It was supposed to come with almonds..we found one. I never thought you can mess up a salad. Mushroom pizza was the best thing we ordered. It was nice and came uncut but with scissors. For $28, I want my pizza to be pre-cut for me. Duck pasta was tasty but duck tasted more like ham (perhaps because it was sweet). We also had some drinks and $8 coffee (too sweet for my taste). We started our evening at the bar to get a drink while we waited on a table. The service at the bar was extraordinarily slow, even for a Saturday night. The drinks were great once they were served and the noise level made conversation easy. Once we were seated we had a lovely dinner. Our server was helpful and very knowledgeable about what dishes were celiac friendly. Overall I recommend taking a trip here, it's a very pretty restaurant and the food is good, but from my experience if you're at the bar expect a longer than usual wait for a drink. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.

Enjoyed taking photos along the wall and assisting some young kids doing the same. FOOD: I'm going to say a huge disappointment to the two of us. However, by the 3rd bite I chalked it up to being a chain. Ordered blackberry cobbler, strawberry & peach cobbler, pecan banana pudding, and peach sweat tea. The food was just sweet. There's a difference between sugar sweet and favorable, which then makes me always question how businesses made it. Cobblers should a buttery, favorable crust. There's didn't. I will say I LOVED the varied treat options - puddings, cookies, cobblers, etc. WELL: Nah, I'm good. No need to return.

Me and 4 friends went to Mad Nice on a Friday night just to get together. We had a 9:00 reservation but got there at 8 to check out the ambiance and hang by the bar until our table was ready. The decor is beautiful , with mostly white all around, you can see the ceiling (which I love) and the lighting was enough without being too bright, and the music was a nice touch that gave it a nice lounge feeling. The hosts and hostesses were great as were the bar tenders and the staff helping the bar tenders. Also, the craft cocktails were really good. They were well made and not overly sweet. Everything was impeccable until the manager Jeff came over. My group of 5 35-40 year old friends were brashly told by Jeff, either you quiet down or you have to leave. Now, there is a good chance we were too loud. Group of 5 guys with drinks and music in the background, sometimes volume is not something you can gauge that well when it's a loud environment. But instead of coming up to us and politely asking, Jeff thought he had to be rude about it and give us an ultimatum. Needless to say I was very upset so we have Jeff as polite of a piece of my mind as I could in that situation and asked for the bill. As good as the recommendations have been from friends and family I will never go back to Mad Nice. I wish them the best of luck but unless Jeff learns how to deal with people and not think that everyone is beneath him, there is zero chance I go back to Mad Nice. Beautiful restaurant. It was recommended by a friend for my visit to my hometown of Detroit. When I walked in, I was immediately told by the hostess that I needed to remove my hat (which was a dressy fedora that I wore to protect my hair from the snow). I obliged. Shortly after, I watched the host greet multiple guests after I was seated, who happened to be white. She did not make the same request of them and allowed them to remain at their tables with baseball caps on. When I asked her why the standard was not the same for every patron in the restaurant, she had no answer. Therefore, I left before I had an opportunity to try the food. MAD NICE is indeed mad nice. I am left to wonder if it is truly intended to be for the black faces who represent the city of Detroit. read more

Wow, how did they turn an old grocery store into a restaurant that feels like it belongs on Miami Beach? The transformation is incredible! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is electric, it feels more like a party than just a dinner out. We shared the Branzino, pizza, and grilled octopus all perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My friend went with an Aperol Spritz, while I had a few Old Fashioneds that were expertly made and seriously delicious. This spot is the perfect place to hang out, enjoy great food and drinks, and soak up the lively, beachy vibe. A total blast! read more

I went here for my birthday yesterday and had the most amazing experience ever! They gave me a birthday card and this big ice cream tower with chocolate shavings, sooooo good.. The food is exquisite. Our server Joshua was extremely friendly and amazing. He made great recommendations on the ribeye cap and the rotisserie chicken with the sides of broccoli and carrots *chef's kiss* ! Had a great experience from start to finish at Mad Nice. The space is beautiful and immediately puts you in a good mood. Our drinks looked beautiful and the food was so tasty! I'm a big fan of oysters so I was definitely excited to see those on the menu. Jeff, the General Manager, stopped by our table to check in on us and talk for a bit and our server was so nice and attentive. Definitely made me feel like the people there genuinely cared to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely come back! read more

We went to Mad Nice for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. Food was delicious and the service was great! Josh was the best - would love to sit at his table again. He took great care of us. Everything is so thoughtful - from the birthday card to the "to go" pizza cutter with any leftover pizza. (And who doesn't love cutting your own pizza with scissors...that I wish I owned).
