The Pad Thai stands up to any version I've had anywhere, a strong and solid offering with the tanginess of tamarind balanced with fresh chopped cilantro. The traditional beef and potatoes dish can be hit and miss, but this one balanced potatoes with crispy edges and pillowy starchiness with quality strips of steak, all stir fried together in just enough brown sauce to bring it together. The tofu and snap peas in a spicy Szechuan sauce were flavorful and hearty enough after appetizers. We didn't get pictures of the egg rolls, which are as good as you'll find in these parts and the spring rolls, which were slightly less authentic than we'd hoped. We finished off with lemon bar ice cream, Vietnamese flan, and a toffee Bundt cake. Red Pine Cookhouse is a visually impressive log building with plenty of natural light flowing in through the many windows and a curved staircase leading up to a game room for the kids.
