Each restaurant offers something different. Nafi's gives home cooking in a Mom & Pop diner. When I'm in town I look forward to stopping in for a quick meal and to say hello to the sweet owners. The location is very convenient for nearby neighbors. With Gateway College across the street, I can see it being very convenient for students and teachers. While the restaurant is not fancy or stylish, it is simple and clean. Tons of windows allow natural sunlight in, creating a bright and comfortable atmosphere. I love Nafi's breakfast. Their veggie omelet is the best with strong & smooth coffee that seals the deal. If you visit during lunch, they have a ton of sandwiches and Gyro options. On my last visit, my friend enjoyed the Greek Salad which looked great. Their BLT's are delicious too. All around, Nafi's offers simple dining at great prices. We have been here several times before, and have always had a good experience and great food. Decided to do a review of my breakfast today and share an image of it. I had the Country Fried Steak and Eggs breakfast, eggs sunny side up, hash browns and light rye toast. The country fried steak has a wonderful batter that is crunchy and light. The inside of the steak is tender and juicy, easy to cut and melts in your mouth. The sausage gravy has seasoned well sausage in it, is creamy and very flavorful. The sunny side up eggs are always cooked to perfection, where the whites are cooked all the way through and the yolks are the way they should be. The hash browns are always cooked well, and I like a good rye bread for my toast. This has been our go-to for breakfast lately, and I would recommend stopping here if you want good food that is always prepared consistently. The place can get very busy at times, so be prepared to wait a little if you get there after 10:00 AM. read more

I live not to far from here, and love going here for a really great breakfast at a reasonable price. First things first, Nafi is literally the sweetest old man you'll ever meet. He always talks to everyone coming in, gets to know all the regulars. Second, the cafe is very nice, clean, maintained, plenty of parking. Waitresses are that classic old school waitress in black aprons, very nice, always prompt with the coffee refills. The big reason I love it though is the food. Everything is fresh, perfectly cooked, and yummy. This is not typical drowning in butter or overlooked diner fare. It's a cut above. I usually get the open face Manitowash Sandwich with is like a healthier version of an eggs Benedict with 9 grain bread instead of an English muffin and a yummy tomato slice added to the top. Never disappoints. My husband has had most of the skillets and the steak and eggs and finds all very yummy. Only downside is I wish they had a fruit cup offered as a side. Pobody's Nerfect though. Genuinely enjoy going there. read more

I was served 2 small pieces of breaded fish that were dry and overcooked, a small portion of mashed potatoes, "out of a box," and 1/3 piece of tough corn, with no butter offered, and no other choice of vegetable, not even bread was ever offered. I started eating at the Springwood Cafe, as a chance alternative to a similar, more highly trafficked restaurant a couple of doors down. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the breakfast food, but a little dismayed about the chattiness / frequency of talking of the restaurant's owner. Today, I took a couple of friends there, and we had a nice breakfast, but the owner, during checkout made an anti-Semetic remark, and I am Jewish so I told him that he had just lost three customers. "I've been here 38 years," he said, as if that made it OK. I said, "Well that explains why the place down the street has all the customers, 'cause 38 years of saying stuff like that isn't good for business." The third time back in the past couple months and the food is always great. The owner is very nice and friendly and he has followed all of the covid restrictions. We first looked at the place a few doors down but it was over crowded and no covid restrictions are in place there. Will be back to Nafi's again! read more

My boyfriend and I visited Nafi's during our 4th of July weekend trip to Kenosha. We went in early Friday morning, so it was almost empty. The atmosphere was that of a typical, tired diner with a good number of elderly people, but it was cute. Positives: 1) The food was pretty delicious. I ordered the hash brown skillet, and also added corned beef hash as an ingredient to it. They do actually have a corned beef hash skillet that you can order (although it is not listed on the menu) but it does not come with the beloved hash browns. They also had biscuits and gravy, which the boyfriend ordered and loved. 2) The server seemed pretty rude when we first sat down, but she eventually ended up becoming very friendly and attentive. She brought out hot sauce and ketchup before we even asked, and was considerate in telling me they actually had a corned beef skillet that wasn't listed. She even went to ask the cooks what was in it to make sure that I would enjoy it. 3) The prices were very affordable. Two meals (mine had an extra side and an extra ingredient added to the skillet) with coffee was $20. Not so positives(?): 1) This may just be my horse-like runner appetite, but I thought it was strange that the side of pancakes (called "toast cakes"..were the size of little saucer plates. Any other diner I go to, including even Ihop, at least gives huge pancakes on the side. I ended up having to get a separate side of pancakes in order to have them be normal sized {you get the toast cakes with the skillets and regular cakes as its own order}. Sorry to add fuel to the fire, but they were still puny compared to the massive cakes you get at Denny's, Ihop, and diners in my hometown. 2) The skillet did not come with very much cheese. I may be used to getting spoiled in Andy's Restaurant in Des Plaines, because they load that thing with cheese, but it was kind of a bummer. I usually can't leave a diner without taking some home with me, but I finished everything when I went here. So the portions are kind of lame compared to elsewhere. The prices are still cheap, though. They also just give you little commercial syrup packages, instead of from one of the nicer syrup glasses that other diners do, but not such a big deal. It just makes the experience nicer when it is not so upfront and obvious how "fast" your food is lol... I don't eat comfort food often (was treated for my bday), so I have grown to become quite the picky glutton when eating it (haha!), so I would still recommend this diner if you are looking for an affordable and delicious meal. read more

My family has been coming here for years. They have the best soup and the best Eggs Benedict. It's runny like it's suppose to be and the hash browns are crispy. They have delicious Cod on Fridays and the French Fries are always hot and crispy. My husband loves the Gyro. The Corned Beef Hash is excellent as well as everything else you order. The owners are the nicest people and are always there. The prices are cheap as well. You can go in and sit and chat for hours without anybody complaining. Just a great place to be. read more

Went for Mother's Day for breakfast with my family. We had a table of 8. Understandably they were busy and we had to wait a bit to order and get our food. However while ordering I had asked to have seperate checks because let's face it almost no one carries cash anymore. The waitress "Debbie" instructed us that would take place up front. Okay. No problem. She seemed annoyed at the question, but again brushed it off as them being busy. Nafi's wife (only by assumption as I can't imagine them employing someone so rude to customers) came and cleared our table and headed towards us a second time with a sour look on her face only to see (what we're guessing) that we hadn't received our bill yet so we could go anywhere. I'm sure they were anxious to get the table cleaned off and available for the next group but it wasn't our fault we were waiting on the check. Then Nafi himself came walking back only a minute or two after we received the check and turned around as soon as he seen us all stand up. I'm sure he was going to come back and say something along the lines of needing us to leave to free up the table. We then get to the register which is packed with people around it and ask to have our bill split. It would have been 4 seperate bills needed. Nafi says something along the lines that it should have been done already and walks away. His rude wife snatches the bill up and begins arguing with my mother that this isn't going to be easy. This continues for another couple of minutes until out of desperation to get out of now the very crowded entryway of this restaurant, I ask what the total is and off to pay it all and we would just need a copy of the bill so we could split it amongst ourselves. Again, the rude wife seems annoyed and snatches my card from my hand, asks me about adding a tip to the charge (not happening as if the waitress would have done the splitting in the first place this never would have transpired) and finishes the transaction. I sign my copy and ask for the copy of the bill. She says "take a picture using your phone". I tell her no, that is not acceptable and I want a copy of the bill. She slams the doors of the cupboards behind her and storms off to the back of the restaurant. She comes back with the kitchen copy of our bill and instructs me to move aside so other people can come through. She writes all the totals down just as the waitress had them (with no order what so ever) and shoves the copy at me. I wish her a happy mothers day and leave. We then had to stand in the parking lot and sort through the bill and decide who owes who money. WORST service I have ever had. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is the food was good. Between the rude attitude of both the waitress and Nafi's wife...and Nafi's complete disregard for the customer's satisfaction, I will NEVER return! I have never as a customer been made to feel like I was an inconvenience to an establishment. Sadly, we were excited to find a place that took a reservation for Mother's day breakfast, but that convenience was NOT worth the RUDE treatment we received. Way to ruin my mother's breakfast with her kids and grandkids. read more

My favorite stop. The best part are some of the more interesting menu options that you won't get at a normal cafe. South of the Border omlets, Cranberry Pecan pancakes, and the Manitowash Sandwich !! The lunch menu also has some creative offerrings, although I eat lunch there less often than breakfast. There's always a daily special, and the "normal" menu items (eggs, pancakes, skillets) are good too. Worth a stop if you're on the north end of Kenosha. Seems to be busy every day around 9 am, but there's always a seat or two left. No problem earlier or later. read more
