At first I was very skeptical about taking my cat here, but I'm really happy I did! They are so nice and took good care of my baby. She was spayed a little over a month ago and hasn't taking a shower since then. When I brought her back home she was very calm and didn't appear to be scared. Quoted me 80-120$ for a BATH for my 40 pound dog short haired lab mix. Super rude receptionist on the phone. I've lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and this place has never improved their hole in the wall look. I tried to give them a chance. As a retired groomer myself, this place lacks professionalism and is asking 3 times the amount other places are asking nearby. That's insane! I'm familiar with prices unless it's a furminator why would you be charging that much for a short haired dog? No wonder no one goes there. Save your time go to honest groomers. First time here! I have 2 Shih Tzu dogs one of which is difficult to Groom. I previously took my difficult dog to another groomer and they did not finish him. Ray at Madame Pompador was so awesome !! She got down low and greeted my dogs rubbed them to evaluate their state and also to make them feel safe. She was extremely patient and positive! Life Saver...... I brought my cat to Madame Pompador after calling numerous Pet Grooming shops trying to get him shaved and bathed. NO ONE would help me. I got the same excuse time after time.... "WE DON'T DO CATS" finally at one shop I called the lady said try Madame Pompador, they are the only one I know who still grooms cats. I called Madame Pompador and OMG!!! When I got my baby back I almost cried. He looked so cute and was so clean. I have really bad allergies so he has to be shaved and the way he looked was adorable. They made him look like a little lion. You have to call first because only one person (I believe its the owner) will do cats there, the other employees are afraid to and she only works on specific days. There isn't enough I could say about this grooming place. I won't take my baby anywhere else. They treat the animals like they are their kids. read more

Came here when we first got my little buddy. He had just arrived from the airport several hours prior and was in DIRE need of a bath and a nice little haircut. Left him for a few hours and when we came back, he looked exactly like he did when we first dropped him off except he smelled like she had sprayed waterless shampoo on him to try and mask the smell, his nails were still untrimmed, and HE had an ugly little girly barrette in his hair. Woof. And to top it off, she seemed like she forgot where she put him. "Is this your dog?" No. "Is this your dog?" Umm, it's that one... The price was very cheap compared to where we take him now but I'd rather pay a little extra and take him elsewhere to ensure he comes out looking clean and pristine. read more

It was my first time taking my 3 month Maltese to a groomer and I was so nervous because I was scared they would hurt her but we had such a good experience, they were very friendly and made my dog feel comfortable. Great service if you ask me! The lady seemed delicate and I can really tell she wanted to take good care of my puppy. When I came back my dog was perfectly fine, she wasn't scared or mad or anything. Who says that dogs and cats don't get along? I have a mini-poodle called Mopita and it was time for him to be bathed, combed, trimmed, and given a little doggy massage. I called Petco and Petsmart to ask for a quote on dog services. OMG! I almost had a heart attack when they told me the price. Every little thing had a separate charge. I mean I love my dog but there are limits to my wallet. I finally found this place based on a recommendation from a friend. I gave my dog the works. Everything he could possibly want or need. They even threw in little blue bows on his ears. his hair was so freaking adorable I was in awe. read more

We decided to try them because they are near by. They require $20 deposit when you drop off your dog super weird but ok! We arrived and the place is quite dark and not the cleanest looking place I was a bit scared to leave him there since their reviews weren't so good. Madame Pompador LOVES her animals! I have a silky terrier and he is easily terrified and defensive to other people. He shakes and barks so it was hard for me to leave him with groomers for a little dog. Petco was ridiculously over priced and everytime my dog was matted they would just shave him completely other than that I would go pick him up and he would still be shivering and scared. I was recommended to madame pompador by my bf and never been anywhere else since! She saves my dogs hair even when he is TOTALLY matted plus she puts bows on his ears! She keeps him there all day to make sure he is calm so she can groom him. By the time I pick him up he is so happy and wagging his tail. I drive about a 30 minute drive just to madame pompador but it is totally worth it! read more

Do not take your pet here! they don't know how to groom a dog! Our dog had several spots where they cut the skin with the shaver. they just shaved everything off the body and Didn't groom the face, just chopped off the ends at different lengths. They should stick to cutting chihuahuas or hairless cats maybe. Also, our dog had no fleas when we took her in but we've been dealing with them since we got her back from them . I can't believe they are still in business! Very dirty and not good at what they do. read more

NEVER come here! Gave them few chances every time I would drop off my dog she would take ALL DAY there. My dog would act funky and paranoid when picking her up, who knows what they would do. I took my sweet girl to get groomed this morning because my husband and I wanted to try a more affordable location that would allow us to groom our fur baby more frequently. Once arriving the man who helped was nice but showed no desire or enthusiasm towards our pet. He did asked us how we would like her to get groomed and we showed him a picture of a previous job done. He took our baby and she seemed really happy to stay there. We picked her up 4hours after drop off, before walking in we could hear our fur baby barking which is not like heR unless she is bother by something. My husband and I thought that it was possibly due to the blow dryer that was on that was being used. She was happy to see us and the same man that helped us in the morning was there and handed her over to us, nothing else was said. Not she was good, she was nervous, we did this etc...no feedback what so ever. Not only that but our baby seemed nervous leaving that place. Which is not like her at all, because she has had other more friendly grooming experiences in another location. As for the job, they did do as we were told..but because of the customer experience and the change of mood my fur baby reacted after leaving I will not be returning to this place. Rather pay twice the price and have my fur baby have a pleasant experience than to pay 1/2 the price and have her feeling scared. Use your best judgment dog parents! read more

I've been going to this place for a few years. I bring my mini poodle in looking BAD (I don't groom him as much as I should) and he always ends up looking fantastic when I pick him up. This place can get a little busy so make sure to call ahead or make an appointment. Staff is always friendly and the price is AMAZING. I used to pay almost twice as much at Petco and he wouldn't look half as good as he does now. I will take my dog nowhere else. read more

My grandmother brought her poodle Buster here for years, so when I moved to the area, I knew Joan would be my first choice to groom my Cocker Spaniel. He looks better than ever! And he seemed happier than ever, too. I've had other groomers be harsh with my pup so it is so nice to see him cheerful after getting groomed here. The prices are very reasonable and they did a great job. I took my two Silky Terriers rigth after I adopted them because their fur was in really bad shape. Although they looked like chihuahuas when I picked them up, the prices were amazing. The last time I got a haircut for my nephew's silky I paid $56 at PetSmart. At Madame Pompador I paid $70 for both dogs; same cut. I even left them a $10 tip for their great job. The only bad thing is their timing. You have to either make an appointment for the weekend, drop them off super early on Saturday or take your dog during the week. read more

I been taking my husky to petsmart in Downey and I had a appointment for him at 9am in the morning and PetSmart told me that there was nothing under his name and even after I spoke to a lady from there 2 weeks ago to confirm it ! Love this place. Brought my sphynx cat (zoey) here for a bath, ear clean and nail trimming. Once I picked her up, she looked like a new cat! Also smelled so good! The people there were super nice and they instantly fell in love w/ zoey. But overall, $35 for my cat and was very satisfied with the services as well as the price. Will be coming back. read more

I've been coming here for 3 yrs. This is the only place I ever take my dog to be groomed. I can only trust them til this day. Knowing your dog is being treated like their own gives me a sense of relief that I can go about my visits without worrying. I used to live just a few blocks away so it was easy but now I live 500 miles away and make a trip down every few months to visit family and of course my dog comes and gets his pampering at Madame pompadour! He always goes in looking fluffy and frumpy and comes out looking elegant and smelling like a baby. I've never had a problem with them and my dog loves getting pampered here. Their prices are affordable and you know they'll give your furry family member a makeover. I really like that they use ribbons, give souvenirs, and send pictures to your phone of your dog. I really wish them the best in success because they deserve it. read more

I'm giving this spot a 1* and at this point, I think that being generous. I have been taking my maltipoo here for several years now -- until recently! Here is why. Once I got my puppy I needed to find a salon for her. This place was recommended to me by a family member. Took my dog here for a while because they did an okay job and my dog didn't seem terrified. So that's good. However, I always felt they were WAY over priced for the service. If I pay pro rate I want pro service. Not the case here. Most of the staff is very nice. But the grooming skills are just not there. My dog is part poodle so due to the shops name I assumed they would know how to handle her hair. Sadly no :( every time I would take my dog they would tell me the only thing they could do is shave her :( boo.. The location is close to my home which is part of the reason I think I kept going for so long.. The last straw.. I called and asked if there were any more openings for the day.. The lady who answered snapped at me with a quick, well you can bring her if you want. I replied ok.... With a drag in my voice.. Again she snapped at me! This time telling me, " look we're very busy today, if you want your dog groomed then get here ASAP, and don't expect her done til tonight." I thought wow, I told her I thought I'd wait til Monday. She said dont bother we're closed, you'll have to make it Tuesday. I thought hmm or not.. I used to go here years ago and started going somewhere else, now I remember why! I dropped my two Pomeranian's at 9am, and wasn't called until 4pm to pick them up. It was too long for my dogs to be in a small cage without any AC. I've taken my dogs other places and they've been ready in 3 hours or less. When I picked up my dogs they had a nice cut, but kept scratching themselves, they claimed the dogs were matted, which they weren't they are combed daily, and this was used an excuse as to why it took so long as well. Once we got into my car I noticed a small critter running over my dogs face. Turns out both my dogs came back with FLEAS!!! I had to rewash them to make sure no fleas were brought to my other dogs. Not going there anymore. Also they don't even check which one is your dog or it's leash, she kept pointing "this one? this one?" I could have easily taken any dog. That's a big NO in my book. read more

I was SUPER happy with my doggie's haircuts. I have a Shorkie Tzu and a Pomachon and Madame Pompador did wonders for both. They were looking like little mops and Petsmart wouldn't give them a short haircut (only a trim) without charging me an arm and a leg. They wanted to shave them bald! Can you imagine my fluffy pups looking like little rats?? Not cute! I called Madame Pompador and got an appt. the next day. My female pup had a lot of matted hair and they were able to get it out without having to shave her hair off. My other pup came home very happy to have a shorter cut. My bf picked both of them up and was very impressed with the service. He said the groomers make sure to treat their clients very well. When a doggie barked they were there to talk to them and comfort them which to me is amazing!! I am very satisfied with the service and definitely recommend it to anyone who loves their doggies! read more

I love taking my poodle Cookie here. I've tried other places like the vet and pet shops. But for the last 3 yrs I prefer this place for a cut and bath. She comes out the cleanest and nicely trimmed. They are a lil pricey but worth it to me. Give it a try and you be the judge. Also my Cookie seems like she's been treated good when I pick her up. Beware if your pet looks frightened when you pick them up that would be a sign they don't like the place. That happen once with my cat at another place. So I always keep this in mind. TERRIBLE OVERPRICED UNPLEASANT SERVICE!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE!!! My mom took her dog there, because the place is close to her and she is elderly so she has a hard time bathing her dog. She has taken her dog before, he is kind of small about 15 pounds and the young lady charged her extra because she said he had lots of knots. The last time she took her dog she charged her $50.00 for a bath. She barely trimmed the face and that is all. The dog looked the same but he was bathed. She lied to my mom stating he had knots, but my mom said the dog had no knots and the lady said they were in his ears, not very pleasantly I might. My mom paid $50.00 for the very expensive bath with maybe a small unnoticeable trim, a highly dissatisfied customer. I guess Petsmart or a vet maybe a better option than this place. read more
