This restaurant was a lot of fun to visit. The ambiance is totally worth it in itself. All the food is very authentic Thai but has elevated and unique presentations. The service lives up to the land of a thousand smiles standards. The menu has plenty of amazing options. He also have a seasonal menu with rotating items. Finally got to sit down and eat at this local Thai food restaurant. Blown away about how beautiful Madame puffs restaurant was inside! If surprises you inside with the decor especially this new room that is accented with greenery all around . The food is even better with elegantly plated dishes, that elevate the experience. It is not your run of the mail Thai food but it has the nuances that are subtle is that make it comforting. Staff is very accommodating and very friendly. I went to Madame Puffs with high expectations. We came here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. Our server was very nice and great. The interior is beautifully decorated, however we found a piece of broken glass on the table. It must have come from an old broken glass and the staff missed it. The menu was unique and had a few things I've never seen before. We got the pork chili and chicken curry puffs, fried papaya salad, and the wings for appetizers. We enjoyed the puffs. The chicken wings were tiny. The fried papaya salad was okay. I would have just gotten the regular one. The presentation was nice, but I would have preferred to have more food and less presentation. For the main, we got the kapi fried rice phi phi island, pad khee mao with spaghetti and we had to pay $10 extra for the vegetable and had no protein added. I wasn't that impressed with the entrees. The fried rice came out deconstructed. I would have gotten something else if I knew that. The pad khee mao was tiny for the $26.95 price. It was the size of an appetizer plate. The flavor profiles were pretty good. The service was good overall, but I don't think I would come back at the price point and with having so many other options for Thai food. read more

Came here for the first time post probably one of the best Yelp Elite Events i've ever been to. I brought my reluctant parents. This might have been one of the best meals I've had in Lincoln Square. We went with the puffs, spring rolls, and crab rangoon. All of them were excellent, but we especially liked the crab Rangoon. They were built with care and were a strong start to the meal. We went with the orange chicken, basil fried rice, and the floating curry noodles. All of them excellent, but my dad didn't like the spice on the fried rice. My mom and I liked it! If there were any downsides, it's that the meal took a little longer than expected and the tables are a bit too close together. Still, the entire place is beautiful and the food was excellent. Add a live singer and the evening was awesome. We will all be back! read more

Did not like the food at all got two things and didn't like either. Veg puff was average too big on steak to name your restaurant after the puffs that don't taste extraordinary and the vegetarian khao soy sauce was messy to eat and full of sodium. I will not try again. The vegetable puff- apparently they make and store which is expected but when it was served it was cold from inside. We reported to the staff and he was nice to offer us another one. And this time it was warm. Restaurant staff were nice and warm. One star for that reason. Good luck. read more

Came here once for Yelp event and then came another time shortly after for dinner. Madame Puffs makes thai food luxurious and still has very affordable prices. The ambiance is classy and perfect for date night, elevated beyond your traditional thai spot. The Puffs live up to the name! You must try a puff either as an appetizer (savory chicken or pork) or dessert (sweet pineapple or ube). Not only is the food delicious but it is beautifully presented. The waitress barely came over and my husband was sitting with so many dirty plates in front of him because she didn't come get anything from us or check in. I asked for spice tray and she brought out just spicy sauce, it's okay if that's all they had but communication is key. I also wanted normal pad see ew and they brought out the proper noodles but it was not spicy at all and asked for Thai hot, I also asked how they made there chicken because it said chicken breast on menu she said sliced. Considered a five star rating but feel like this place deserves a 4.5. Restaurant is lovely and instagram worthy. Loved the papaya salad , pad see ew, cashew chicken and pad Thai . Tried a few puffs too - those were pretty good. They have live music on Friday and Saturday and while the singer was talented , the music and his singing was too loud for the small space and as a result , I left with a headache. Service was pretty good although a bit disorganized ( eg our entrees came out one at a time and our appetizers came out at the end). I've only been once but I have to agree that I liked what I got (although I liked the Thai spot that used to be here and hope those folks are well). I ordered the khao soi which was yummy (and also a bit of a fun spectacle, since it had chopsticks levitating in the air). The service is friendly and good vibes and the spot lives up to their name - I tried the curry chicken puffs and they were yummy and I am curious to try the rest of their puffs over future visits. read more

First off, this place is decked out in spangle gold. It's like the Thai Mar-Lag-O, but not as kitsch. The greeting when we walked through the door was warm and we were instantly seated and treated to one of the best Thai meals we have had in Chicago. A bit of context, I've been eating Thai food since the mid-90s. I'm sort of addicted to it. My family and I have traveled across Thailand and I've spent a few vacations in culinary heaven there. So, hear me when I say that Madame Puffs is doing something very right. The presentation alone (see the snaps) is jaw dropping. Every detail is thought out, from the pouring of the water with a golden bamboo-shaped water jug, to the pouring of the curry sauce onto the bowl. We had a nice time, the decor and general vibe is lovely. We got the pineapple fried rice, the magic floating noodle dish with ribeye, and some bang bang shrimp. The pineapple fried rice was delicious! Be prepared for pork floss (dried shredded pork) on top. It adds a really nice smokiness, but the mouthfeel can be odd if you're not expecting it. The noodle thing tasted incredible. My only complaint is that they seemed to sacrifice the quality of the dish for the presentation. Was it cool? Yes. But it had exactly one carrot, two pieces of onion, and a handful of actual noodles for all that sauce. I wish there had been more stuff in the dish itself, rather than a huge clump of fried noodles. Thag being said, it was amazing tasting and I took the sauce home for leftovers! The bang bang shrimp was huge!! Sometimes you'll get a piece that big and assume it's mostly breading but this wasn't. This place is such a great addition to the area. It's cute and the ambiance is so chill. Went here twice and enjoyed the meals both times. They accommodated a big group the first time and that was great of them. Super nice and pleasant staff. I enjoyed the meals but I would just say they need to give us the option to change the noodles to some food items, for example pad ki Mao. This doesn't not pack the punch with spaghetti or squid ink noodles. You need the flat thick noodles for this. read more

The curry puff was a favorite, super flavorful and the crisp on outside. the pastry puff bread was amazing. we got the chicken skin, super crunchy, yummy, and the sweet and sour sauce paired nicely with it. I made a reservation for me and my chosen family for thanksgiving here, weeks in advance. Yelp confirmed the reservation and even emailed me to remind me about it a few hours before we were to eat. I called the restaurant when I saw on google that it was listed as closed and whoever picked up responded "haha yes we are closed, sorry." No explanation was given for why I was able to make a *confirmed* reservation for that night. Suddenly we were left with no thanksgiving plans at 6pm. I appreciate that people would like to have thanksgiving off, but it is ridiculous to accept a reservation for a holiday, not honor it, and not even get in touch with those who did make reservations beforehand to remedy the situation. This Thai restaurant is amazing! I've been looking for a good Thai restaurant for years, but I didn't find many, especially in Chicago suburbs. I pretty much gave up, and just put up with mediocre Thai food. But today, I was going to the Renegade Craft Fair, so I drove by and saw the restaurant from outside. I thought it looked interesting, but I was blown away when I got inside. Not only the decor was very pretty, almost over the top, but the food was amazing. Everything from the presentation, the decorations, the taste, the colors, etc. everything was well done. As if things weren't too good to be true already, but my waiter, Toast, was so nice and friendly. He was so helpful, and gave us all the right recommendations. As a big fan of Thai food, my dinner at Madame Puffs and Thai Bistro was unlike anything I've ever had. When we think of Asian restaurants, we often assume the nice-looking ones aren't authentic but Madame Puffs proves otherwise. They truly caught two rabbits here - aesthetic and taste. The upscale interior, attentive service, and stunning food presentation honestly made me feel like I was dining at a Michelin-starred spot. But it's not just about looks! The food is bursting with flavor and takes you straight to Thailand. The bang bang shrimp and signature puffs instantly made me want to try the entire menu. I'm pretty adventurous with food, and every dish was such an eye-opening experience. The khao soi's gravity-defying noodles were fun, but that rich curry? My mouth is watery all again just by thinking about it. The spicy fish salad was my favorite. It is already fiery enough that I didn't dare ask for more heat. The ribeye salad had perfectly cooked steak, balanced by the punch of fish sauce. The chicken satay was the most gorgeous I've ever seen! So aromatic, flavorful, and paired with a dreamy sauce. And the pork dish (third pic) - sooo tender, with a sauce that could make you finish a whole bowl of rice in a second. I've tried many Thai restaurants in Chicago, but Madame Puffs is the real deal. Amazing food, extremely friendly staff, very nice and cute inside!! We tried the puffs in pork and curry chicken - super flaky and moist. The Red Snapper was delish (got it spicy and it was just the right amount of kick for people who like spice) and the squid ink noodles with steak was a must try. Highly recommend!!! read more
