    PANANG CURRY NOODLE

Omg absolutely loved this place! This is not far from my sister and brother in laws place and they said it was really good so I couldn't wait to try it out. I got Panang curry noodles with tofu and seaweed salad to start. My sister got the tempura sweet potato roll and an avocado roll, my brother in law got sushi as well. Service was good, a little slow but they gave us edamame because of it (table ahead of us ordered a lot!). Everything was amazing. The noodles were SO thick and the curry was creamy and delicious, they gave me spice to add too. The seaweed salad was super refreshing. The veggie rolls were so good too, everyone was happy with their meals. Cute little neighborhood location too, so happy I got to try this place out!

I dined in at Big Bird Sushi Bar & Thai for my birthday this year. The food here was delicious. I highly recommend the Butter Bomb- that roll was a little spicy but with suuuuper buttery tuna. I love wide noodle stir fry dishes and the pad kee mao hit the spot. We ordered both the noodles and rice dishes spicy. I would say that the curry fried rice was more to my liking in spice as I have a high tolerance for it but both were good. If you prefer high spice, i would recommend asking for extra spicy when it comes to the noodles. The inside of the restaurant was clean and cute. Our service was quick for the sushi however we had our sushi mostly eaten by the time the other dishes came out. Next time, I would recommend requesting that they come out together if you are planning on eating them as one course.

Before coming to this restaurant, I would never have imagined combining Thai and Sushi. The menu is extensive - one side is all the Thai offerings and the other is sushi, including soups and salads. The sushi was fresh. Highly recommend the salad with sushi. So yummy! And the Pad Krapow was also quite tasty. Don't forget the Thai Iced Tea! There was a steady stream of customers dining in and picking up orders. The inside has a nice vibe - black walls with dim lights. The servers were also very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is located on a corner, so it's easy to find. There is only street parking, but it wasn't bad when we went.

Big Bird has delicious sushi! Their rolls are a good size and affordable! Service was very attentive and fast! Just had their sushi but they have a very extensive menu of Thai dishes as well. It just opened two months ago so check them out!

Chicago has my sushi restaurants. Many of them are trying to be too fancy or just overly done. This is not case for Big Bird Sushi & Thai. It's a cozy, neighborhood sushi restaurant making some great food. First, the food I very good. For sushi, I tried their Signature Sport Maki. It's a series of sushi rolls named after Chicago sports teams, the Cubs, the Bulls, the Bears, the Blackhawks and the White Sox. My favorite was the Blackhawks roll. I also liked the sashimi salad. It's an interesting concept and good for two people. They have other food other than sushi that I enjoyed. I liked the crispy enoki mushroom and the tom yum soup. The tom yum soup was very spicy. Second, The service was excellent. My waitress and the rest of wait staff was friendly and helpful. This is a must try just sushi restaurant in Chicago.

Well it was unfortunately a cold winter in Chicago the very first day of December 2026. Well supposedly this is a la niña winter so this is typical to get a little snowing early December. I didn't want to drive far and originally I was going to go for Puerto Rican and the Thai restaurant I wanted to go to it would be difficult to find parking. Found this particular Japanese Thai fusion restaurant near my house in which it's predominantly Latino but I guess this part is getting gentrified. I decided to give this a try. Service was pretty amiable. Ambience you got that trendy music feel since they were playing soft music. In regards to their food the chicken pad Thai was delicious but a little pricey at $13.95 for how much you get. I usually order curry dishes but I got to cut back being pre-diabetic on rice despite that I ordered the noodle dish. Haven't had pad thai for a long time. Under calamari appetizer order was just meh good. The presentation look like it just was another typical calamari likewise with the taste it was battered and they used to thai sweet and sour sauce that you get in grocery stores. Also expensive at $8.95. I also ordered a Thai iced tea which I was a little disappointed cuz it was on the watery side but I guess that would be good since I'm pre-diabetic and it's $5 dollars or what I got. I guess they're getting those young people in their 20s and 30s moved over here near Hermosa/ Logan square area making this trendy and overpriced. Anyways that's why I gave it three stars there are much better Japanese Thai fusion restaurants I could think of but I just didn't want to drive far and this cold snowy December 1st 2026 winter

I was so excited that this place opened up after the previous business owner closed down. I live right around the block and love to see new local businesses pop up, so of course had to try it. Overall, I love Thai food and this is definitely a big hit. I highly recommend everything they have on the menu

Lunch special: choose two maki's & miso soup

Tried out Big Bird the other day for lunch. First impression is that it has a chic laid-back vibe. Great for a date night or to meet up with friends. The menu is extensive, offering a full sushi/japanese menu and Thai menu. I had heard they offered a good lunch special, but did not see it posted anywhere. After asking, the waitress offered up the lunch menu with their special. I'm not going to lie, I didn't like that. If you have a lunch menu, share it with every customer that comes in during lunch. This was a no bueno for me. Besides that, everything was absolutely delicious. Prices are more than fare and I think we have found our new go-to. I did see a few high chairs in the corner so it is family friendly. They could use some kid friendly cups! Space is limited so consider this if traveling/walking with a stroller.

Instantly one of my new favorite restaurants in Chicago. And probably one of my favorite Thai…read morerestaurants of all time. As a street food spot that's popular for lunch, you get different offerings here than a lot of your other neighborhood Thai joints. Sat on the outdoor patio so didn't get to see the inside much but I liked our atmosphere and service. Split the papaya salad and the Laab Moo Krob (crispy pork belly salad) with a friend and both were outstanding. From the first crispy bite of the pork belly I was in love with the texture and flavors. We added a side of sticky rice with that which was perfect. I wish I could've tried everything on the menu that day but looks like I'll just have to return as soon as possible.

I advise straying away from the noodle classics like Pad Thai or Pad See Ew and opt for a soup, chicken, or rice plates! Pretty small inside so you may have a bit of a wait but overall really quick service. Chicken with ginger rice (R4): Poached chicken served over ginger-garlic rice with soybean ginger sauce on the side. I think I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time. The server was really nice and kept my water filled when I was thirsty from walking around all day. I was happy to see khao soi on the menu. I had been mixing it up with khao poun which is a different dish and doesn't have fried noodles. I like both. I was hungry and tucked in to soft noodles, crispy noodles, pickled mustard greens, onions, and in this case tofu. The server noticed my enthusiasm and said it would make him happy. I hope so, this was a lovely meal and a standout among all the chains and custom-bowl places. Would definitely return.

It's a few dollars less than the normal menu but a pretty good deal. My daughter and I ordered the pad see ew lunch, a regular Kara age chicken appetizer, and a taro boba. They also gave us a miso soup and two veggie egg rolls, unsure if that's part of the lunch special or not or standard for all done in customers, but it was a great addition! The food was delicious and made SUPER fast. I'd say we only waited about 5-7 minutes for everything. There is a lot of seating inside and the decor is really cool. The staff is really nice too!
