MaDang is one of my favorite little Korean malls. I don't think it can really be called a mall and def not a strip mall - nope - Courtyard really is the best way to describe MaDang. I legit love coming here because it's just so gorgeous! Clean, always organized, the usual elderly grandpa patrolling around as security looking for those doing wrong, lol! There is a huge parking garage which always has parking. Be sure to get validated and cross your fingers to hope a movie at CGV doesn't get out the same time you want to leave. That's the only downfall of MaDang, exiting at night from the garage is hit or miss. Last night, I got right out! Other nights, been stuck for 45 minutes. So, truly hit or miss. There is SO MUCH good at MaDang. Shopping, eats, the aforementioned coffee shop, bookshops...let me highlight a few favorites: ~ Heuk Hwa Dang - their ice cream and coffee is great, adorabley cute space! ~ H-Mart Supermarket - who doesn't love groceries?! lol ~ Beard Papa - cream puffs are nomz. ~ Daiso - I love deals and Daiso is full of them! ~Sul & Beans - Patbingsu deliciousness to amaze your out of town friends, lol. ~Somi Somi - Ah-Boong, a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of filling and topped with soft serve - similar to taiyaki and so good. Kpop Music Town K-Pop Store - self explainatory. Jung Kook army bias here. I been rocking with Kpop since Seotaiji and H.O.T. so I'll always be a fan. ~Aladdin Bookstore - friends always want to go here for Korean books while in town. ~Pelicana Chicken - KFC straight from Korea with great happy hour deals. ~CGV Cinema - movies in Korean! Workers are reportedly allowed to smoke on the 6th and 7 th floors inside the building, according to a security guard who was working an evening weekday shift. While shopping in the building, I could clearly smell cigarette smoke and nicotine. If smoking is taking place indoors, I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated and the building's no-smoking policy enforced. read more

Had such a frustrating parking experience in their garage. The new system allows you to simply park (your license plate is scanned), then at validating stores, all you have to do is type in your phone number and you get texted a QR code that you scan on your way out of the parking garage. Simple enough, HOWEVER, I discovered that if you are here when the plaza is busy, the single exit is simply not sufficient for the amount of people exiting. I had parked on P4, and the line of cars for the exit was already up to P4, complicated by cars on lower levels trying to exit and get into the single file line as well. In total, it took me literally 30 minutes to exit the parking lot, which meant I barely made it out of the garage under the 3-hour limit for validation I had. read more

MaDang is a nice little plaza with a small sampling of shops, though mostly eateries. There's H Mart and Daiso, but otherwise it's frequented for parking in this part of Koreatown. Parking is fairly expensive without validation, and they often validate for two hours. Cost without validation? $2 per 15 minutes with a daily max of $36 I believe... yeah it can be pretty expensive here without validation! But in terms of convenience and what there is, this definitely has its pros / cons. read more

Nice shopping area but the new parking system is a pain. Method of validation depends on the store and different exits only accept validation from certain stores. And none of these subtleties are explained with signage, you just need to figure it out for yourself. Please fix this! read more

Sadly this beautiful small open shop/plaza has really aged poorly!!! Once my go to stop for dinner movie drinks and desert has seen a lot of closures and turn around with a lot of empty spaces and my favorites closing!! Still has some life left and some goodies to offer but definitely and sadly lost its moxy with declining economy and spending!! read more

This plaza is really convenient with Daiso, SomiSomi, Potobox, and H Mart all in one area. It's easy to stop by for quick shopping, dessert, or a photo booth session. Parking is simple, and H Mart offers validation that makes the rate much cheaper. The plaza is clean, walkable, and has a good mix of stores. A reliable stop whenever I'm in the area. read more

MaDang the Courtyard is just that: a small courtyard in the middle of densely populated Koreatown. Literally steps from the Wilshire/Western station of the Metro's Purple line, it has a lot of accessibility if you're coming here using public transit. However, if you're driving in, be sure to enter the parking garage on Manhattan Place, the next street west of Western Avenue. You can turn onto Manhattan Place from either direction off of 6th Street, but you can only make a right onto the block from the Wilshire Blvd side. Wilshire has a center median so don't even think about making a left hand turn! Not only that, it is packed solid on weekends! Lots of families, couples and the like to hang out or do grocery shopping at H-Mart. You can expect to wait in a traffic line just to get into the garage. It's narrow and there's validated parking in a lot of the stores so keep that in mind! I've only come here for easy, cutie shopping at Daiso - a favorite store of mine. I've started to frequent Jeong Yuk Jeom, whose meat dishes are so good, I think about it when I'm not there! I've also been to the CGV cinemas a few years ago to see Pirates of the Caribbean on the 360-degree screen, which is out of this world! And a fun, unique experience for cinephiles. They also show plenty of Korean cinema as well. Paris Baguette is here - I love their little pastries! But as a courtyard, MaDang is just a courtyard. Earlier today 03/04/2026, I visited the store Little Things whatever it is called located in the second floor. I went in with my partner and my kid took a couple looks, mind you my man and kid were with me the whole entire time, so we leave because I don't see anything interesting and overpriced. Once outside the store I had no absolute idea that the lady behind the register was chasing after us with a toy. I was super confused had no idea what was going on because she was blabbering nonsense and she kept pointing at my man and the toy so we were like what?! Why would my 35 yo partner want a toy!?? She was accusing him of shoplifting so she just took back to the store and it was weird I honestly it's part of their scamming I never thought of getting discriminated like this and humiliated and the reason why I say scamming is because she never once called the security or anything after us. So please be careful I could easily file a law suit for discrimination. Ridiculous. read more

This mall grew on me, each time I went back recently I discovered more and more stores to check out and shop at. The decor (Korean inspired) is very nice and stylish, it's an outdoor mall with a movie theater, a supermarket (H-Mart, downstairs), many places to eat at (I love Paris Baguette!), ice cream stores, restaurants. Aladdin Bookstore is always nice to shop at and Daiso is great to browse, get things you need or things that are just fun, because the price is right! If I'd live in the area I'd explore more their restaurants and cool dessert places. Nice plaza, not too big, cool decor, right off Wilshire/Western subway stop. It has it own parking lot as well. Ma Dong Plaza is one of these place, more times you go, more fun you have! read more

I love this mall! It is incredibly easy for you to bring your kids/family and find something to eat, watch a movie, shop for makeup/clothes, do your grocery shopping, and hit up Daiso for small trinkets/household goods. If you're meeting a bunch of friends, it's super easy to grab dinner, watch a movie and then eat dessert~ all in the same spot. Depending on the time of day, you may have to wait for a parking spot but 99% of the time you can always find something. Every vendor in this plaza will give you a stamp for free parking with a small purchase (food, drink, etc). read more

Our main goal was to meet Dana K. here and go to Chocolate Chair for the Dragon's Breath dessert - the one with the smoke coming out of the mouth and nose! Yuri and I were early and found street parking. Later, we found out that parking in the garage is free with purchase at any of the many shops and restaurants. So, we moved the car to the garage - entrance is on Manhattan Place. We went to: Daiso - cute merchandise from Japan. Most items are $1.50. SomiSomi - Fish shaped waffle cone and soft serve ice cream Chocolate Chair - Dragon's Breath dessert We most likely will return to this Shopping Mall in Koreatown in LA because of all of the cool stores! We also noticed that there's a movie theater on the upper level and Paris Baguette on the Ground level! I liked the Asian style décor and landscaping! Came here after our AYCE BBQ to walk off all we ate. I ordered 3 bingsoo for the 5 of us and we nothing left but the container. It was nice and cold eating it outside on on a cold night. I decided to go to MaDang for dessert. While here, I ended up exploring the plaza. The roommate and I got here on Tuesday, November 20th around 2pm. We started off at SomiSomi for an ah-boong. Not the best flavor wise, but very cute. Afterwards, we went to Hmart and bought a bunch of snacks. I adore Korean supermarkets. Next up was Daiso so I could raid their candy aisle. Gimme all that gummy and sour candy! The plaza is small, but has a good amount of floors. There's a number of shops to explore. Downstairs there was a car display with commercials running in Korean which I thought was cute. I think the commercials were dubbed in Korean and subbed in English. A little funny as I think the commercials were originally in English based on the actors. I believe they offer two hour validation if you park in the parking structure. Plenty of time to check out the entire plaza. read more

I love checking out new cultures and different parts of town. This time, we're exploring what Koreatown has to offer. After having lunch at the tofu house, we wandered along Wilshire and ended up here. This mall is very Korean, which is great because I'm not very familiar with the culture. There were many specialty coffee shops, food joints, and stores. The crowd was predominantly Korean, with a few explorers such as ourselves checking out the place for the first time. I liked it, it was clean and classy. I will be back to try out some of the places here. Stay tuned for some updates. read more

The third Korean shopping center I visited in a dat. It's been awesome. Now this one is outdoor shopping plaza, with focus more on the food, as they're famous for their desserts places (SomiSomi and Sul and Beans). They also have Paris Baguette here, a Korean bakery, with some snack shops as well. To kill time here you can also visit Daiso. or you can bring your kids to the courtyard where they play music as you can sit down and relax while watching your kids run around. read more

I really love visiting LA but the traffic is always so rough! It's so nice to find shopping centers that pretty much have everything Korean related in one place. We didn't get to check out everything here but if you are a Kpop/Kdrama lovers then there is a lot to see. On my last visit we visited Sul & Beans which has amazing Pat Bing Soo (Korean shaved ice), Cosmetic World had a ton of different Korean brands, and Paris Baguette! Next time I'm in LA I would like to watch a Korean movie at CGV (it's a Korean movie theatre, and I hope they have caramel popcorn like in Korea). Also, there is a Korean restaurant there that we will have to check out. Some other awesome things are they have Kpop store, Hmart, and Daiso! The only thing missing is a Korean spa~ read more

Madang Plaza is a really happening place with lots of trendy food establishment and a beautiful feng shui entrance. Madang Plaza is "attached" to a super large multi-level parking garage for your convenience. This three-level shopping center has, as mentioned before, food establishments like a taiyaki place and a BBQ place. Aladdin Bookstore can also be found here. read more

I love this open shopping plaza! I remember when it was first built a few years ago and how dead and quiet it was with only a few stores. Now it has gotten better and better over time with really fun stores and the CGV movie theater that plays a lot of Korean movies. We start one of our Koreatown Walking Tours at this plaza. The grey stone and brick architecture was inspired by the traditional giwha jip (slate roofed houses) and other traditional buildings. The architect did a really nice job and it definitely has a very Korean feel to it. We tried baked treats at Paris Baguette which is a Korean Bakery that has many locations in L.A. and around the world. I love their sandwiches as well. We sampled red bean paste bread and donuts as well as their cream filled pastries and cakes. We also tried sweet sticky rice bread with black sesame and sweet potato pastry. They were delicious and really a taste of European and Korean Flavors. Kost.eats has different types of Korean street food including savory hottoeok with bulgogi stuffing or or sauteed glass noodles. The cheese filled hot dog was so good!! As well as the regular hot dog. Their noodle soup was bright and savory. Sul and Bean is a very popular creamy shaved ice desserts, they brew their own house red bean topping in a giant metal pot in the store. Somi soft serve is one of my fave creamy dessert. There is also a Daiso and H Mart which is a Korean Super Market with fresh seafood and prepared Korean food in addition to other regular products. There is the CGV movie theater that plays many Korean movies with subtitles as well as American movies. There is also a new K-Pop merch store. A K-Beauty store with a good selection. There's also a traditional hanbok(Korean clothing style from the Joseon dynasty)...whew there's more and I would recommend stopping in here if you are in K-town and have some time. read more

Just got scammed by the PARKING SERVICE: This review is solely for the parking, which I understand from MADANG management that it is a third party hire, that does a shitty job. My friend and I went here at around 2:00-2:15 pm. We saw that the parking was​ validated or $2.00 for every 15 minutes. Which is fine, we are dining here and will have a validation anyhow, and we were not planning to stay for more than 2 hours. When we left at around 3:45-3:50 pm, we were asked to pay $16.00. WHAT THE F***! We tried to explain to her that we got here at 2:00pm. I am a very calm person but when she becomes unreasonable, I reach my boiling point. She said the machine is not wrong, telling us that she clocked in at this time blah blah blah and telling us "Idk​ why you guys keep complaining" I'm​ just like so baffled​ by these things that she is saying. I will just say that uneducated people do not know how to draft an argument, and they will say anything to degrade you and make you feel powerless even if that argument is not consistent with the matter or the situation. I told her that she needs to check the camera and refused and said we cannot handle the matter now, and called the security. I am not afraid of the security and please call the cops if you have to. They will be on our side as cameras do not lie. It got escalated after we paid her $16.00 in cash, we pulled out of the parking lot and asked her for the manager's number. The manager was another imbecile that would not listen to what I have to say and refused to refund the money. He said this situation is unheard of and it has never happened before and if it happened to us, it must have happened to other people. I realize in the moments of writing this review that my friend and I got scam by the parking attendant. Unfortunately, she switched our original parking ticket that was dated at the correct time to the ​previous customer from earlier that has an earlier hour of 11:18 am. This was not a machine error but a human error to make a quick $16.00. Our ticket got validated from HMART with a stamp in the back of the ticket and not the front. But the ticket she returned to us with the time stamp of 11:18am has an HMART validation stamp on the front of the ticket and not the back. She switched the ticket, unbelievable that we were fooled​ by her. This is a fraud and stealing of money. For her to sit there and yell at us, eff you. I would reccommend you take photos of your own parking ticket, and also after it got validated. They have cameras, and I want them to prove to us that we were there at 11:18 am like the ticket said, because we really were not. I was still laying in bed at 11:18 am, how can I be at two places at once? read more

The Madang Plaza Shopping Mall (aka Madang Mall) is a shopping center in Koreatown, in which the concept was inspired by traditional Korean design. In Korean, madang means "courtyard" or the garden of a traditional Korean housing complex. It opened in June 2010 with three levels of shopping and entertainment. Located, just North of Wilshire Blvd on the western side of Western Ave, where the famous Woo Lae Oak restaurant once stood. There's a parking structure underneath the shopping center. Escalators lead up to the main level. If you validate your ticket, parking is FREE. It's a nice looking mall and they already added a decent sized Christmas Tree in the main courtyard for the holiday season. From ashes rise the Phoenix! When I was a lad, one restaurant (Woo Lae Oak) sat where mighty Madang now sits. An ambitious plan resulted in Woo Lae Oak being bulldozed and a mall built in its place. An economic downturn resulted in 90% of its storefronts sitting empty, for years. Fast forward to 2014 and watch out everybody, Madang is a hit! Movie theatre, School Food, Daiso, Curry House, a gym (always empty, but you can't have it all), a super Paris Baguette (ask for manager Joe, he's awesome) and more. Any two different stores can validate, resulting in roomy free parking. Best kept secret, ladies: a shop on the second floor has gently-used high end bags. Nobody needs to know. The restaurants include School Food, The Kangjung, Doni Burger, Curry House, Lemon Tree Kids Café and as well as Madang Korean BBQ. They also have many shops including Daiso, The Face Shop, Aladin Used Bookstore and so much more. This plaza is also gives many variety to your dessert needs. From Tom N Toms, Boba Time, Paris Baguette, Beard Papa and the most famous, Chocolate Chair and Sul & Beans. It also has a small empty space in the middle of the plaza where people can sit down and kids can play. Ever since H Mart opened underground, parking has been the biggest issue. This review is about Valet parking on Western ave. When I entered the parking entrance from Western avenue, the valet stopped me and said only the people who use valet service can enter the entrance otherwise you need to pay $12 because you cannot get the parking ticket here.(The bar wasn't operating.) Actually the entrance is for H-Mart and I went there for the market. Also there's a sign as you see on the picture. However he didn't care about what I said and told me to u-turn and leave. Great mall to come with friends, family, and really anyone because it's settled in the center of K-town, so there's a lot to explore around the area and inside the mall. The mall's relatively small, but it still includes their main attractions: a market(H-mart), great restaurants, a movie theater(CGV), Daiso, dessert shops, beauty stores, etc. It's a cute mall, a perfect place to chill, but parking can be pretty hectic and inconvenient, especially in the weekends, because it's almost, always packed, so spinning around the parking lot is a regular routine, every time I go, so you should probably uber there or find a parking spot outside. Overall, a good place to hang out and indulge on delicious foods. Def check this place out! read more

One of the newer mini malls in Koreatown. The decor is in the style of traditional old school Korean architecture with a modern twist. Currently opened for business are a movie theater (that plays Korean and American flicks), bar, restaurant and ice cream shop, but when more businesses move in I'll update this review. Parking structure offers free parking (for now). Enter from either Western or Manhattan. 3 stars because it's not fully up and running yet, but I think it definitely has potential. read more
