I stopped by Madd Monkey Garage later in the day to ask about a quote for a snapped bolt I tried all weekend to remove. I had already stopped by a few other spots with minimal enthusiasm to help from anyone. After pulling my car around for them to take a better look, one of the mechanics immediately started working on the removal and didn't mind me hanging out. I took my 4x4 to this shop while I was traveling through NC with my national guard unit and staying at Lake Norman last month. It needed some minor work done, and the owner gave me an estimate that sounded a bit high, but I didn't have time to shop around. When I went back to pick it up two days later, he had added on an additional $250 for parts that were not actually necessary, and without getting my authorization. When I questioned why he hadn't called me first, he got triggered with what I call "New York Rude"! If I lived in Troutman I would strongly advise others to beware of MADD Monkey Garage. Took our car in for a quote for rear bumper replacement. He told us his quote would be in by the end of the day. Two days later, still not a word. We called and he said he had not sent the quote by email but it would "most likely be today". Never heard a word. We went to 2 other local body shops and one gave an immediate quote and the other was in by the end of the afternoon. So he lost our future business for anything having to do with car repair. Wish there was an opportunity for a zero star review since that's how far we got with him. Unbelievable. read more

A liar and a crook! My daughter took her car there to find out what the check engine light was for. They charged her a diagnostic fee. She asked if they repaired it would the diagnostic fee would be taken off the repair. She was told it would. Well it was not. The owner lied about being in the office when the receptionist told my daughter and my wife that the fee would be applied to the repair bill when he was not. Beware of this liar and crook! read more

My 2002 Suburban started to shake in the front end. I am new to Troutman and wanted to find someone I could trust to work in my vehicle. I took the truck by Madd Monkey and spoke to Jim. The repair was more than I wanted to spend but decided to get the truck repaired. Him rebuilt the front end, put on new tires and did the state inspection.
