Seriously amazing! They have a sign saying that there is a minimum 5 week turnaround time but they were able to make an exception for me and got my dress back to me in 2 weeks. They told me to call 2 days before the pickup day I requested and they actually finished my dress a day early. They hemmed my dress, took out the zipper, and added loops to turn it into a corset style dress. I didn't catch the womans name but she had me try on my dress before I left because she was worried about it fitting correctly due to all of the alterations. Wish I would have read some of the reviews, before using these guys. They will not have your service done when they say it will be done. I saw their business by Luckys and thought I'd try to support a small, local business. I wanted to like them and bring them my business. I went in to have a pair of jeans hemmed. They gave me a two week deadline. I asked if they couldn't have them done sooner. I mean a hem job on a pair of jeans, how much actual time would that take? She said she'd call if she could have them done sooner. Not only did that early call never come, but they were not ready when they said they would be. The least they could do was call so I wouldn't come in for no reason. Over a week later, when I finally got my jeans -- no offering of a discount which I probably wouldn't take, not even an apology. They demonstrated they have no regard for my time. Or customer service. I always try to support local business, Especially small businesses. However, Made to Fit is not worthy of that sentiment. They have an unapologetic disdain for customer's time, or customer service. Use them at your peril. I'm going to look for another service that values my time and my businesses and cares what they say to their customers . A small business worthy of my trust and loyalty. read more

Sammee is the best! She's the owner and also a tailor, though she does employ a few tailors in the back. I used to live closer to Made to Fit, but once you've found a good tailor stick with them! Sammee always recommends what she thinks is nice re tailoring, but ultimately its your decision to accept the recommendation or not. Pro tip: make sure to call before going in esp. for fitting. Sammee has on one or two occasions been running an errand and I missed connecting with her. read more

I am thankful that I live in the Bay Area. The weather, the green hills (for a short time during the year), the sceneries, the foods, and Made To Fit (or more accurately, Sammy, its owner)! I've been going to Made To Fit for at least five years now and I can tell you that this shop is very aptly named. I'm petite, so most of my nice clothes needed to be altered. Nice clothes usually come with a not so nice price tag, or come from far away places that require long haul flights. For those reasons, I only trust my nice clothes to Sammy - and I have never been disappointed. During all those years, I only asked Sammy to adjust her work once (Once! Even as I am writing this, I still can't believe it!). Other than that one time, she always got things perfect and right for me. People (actually only one person, but who's counting?) had told me I'm a sophisticated woman, to which I chuckled in response. I'd like to think of myself as stylish with a mix between classic and trendy. I got compliments for my outfits a lot - but I'm fully aware I can't be that stylish without Sammy. I brought in my clothes, had an idea and bounced it off of her. Other times, I let her tell me what needed to be done. I always agree with her because her counsel (yes, that's how highly I think of her opinions and advices) is always spot on. She is a great stylist herself, with an eye for details. Another time, another place, she could have been a designer - and can be if she wants to (I'm rooting for her - it's International Women's Day!). Sammy's bedside manner is as great as her skills and expertise. Because her shop is very popular and her work is sought after, there will be a wait. Seeking a new East Bay place since my previous go-to had ruined more items that I could tolerate, Made To Fit was worth a shot Took over a bunch of pants to hem, as well as a dress that was too small & needed an insert. I was a bit worried when they only measured 1 leg for my pants - as people's legs usually are different lengths... mine included. Sure enough, the legs all came back uneven AND - sorry to say all 4 pairs of pants were cut too short. Too short & uneven. Really? The dress on the other hand.....they should be flat out embarrassed. The hemming is shorter on 1 side of the dress & it noticeably gathers, plus the inserts were not sewed evenly - wavy lines. I can't believe you even had the nerve to hand that back to me Needless to say, all of this will have to go elsewhere to repair their damage 'Cause I'm NOT trusting these people w/ anything else! read more

We needed to get a couple pairs of pants shortened and get the sleeves of a dress shirt taken in. When we got the pants back it was great to see they didn't shortcut any of the alterations. Everything was done really nice. You can't even tell they have been altered. As for the dress shirt, it is really sad. I know the sleeves needed to be shortened and I had such high hopes for it. Picked up the shirt, and tried it on when I got home only to find the sleeves are now too short. I can leave with the odd pleating to compensate for the width of the sleeves, but when I put my arms straight it is about 3 inches too short. Now I have a ruined $90 shirt that I can't wear. Get your pants done here, but do not try and get sleeves altered. read more

Expensive...but worth it. I had gotten a dress for a wedding and needed it altered. Badly. I basically needed an entirely new dress because it was just big EVERYWHERE. (Nordstrom really needs to re-do their sizing...) And of course being the procrastinator I am, I waited until about 2 weeks before the wedding to buy a dress...only to find out that I needed to alter it. Came here on a whim because it's close to my house and it had good reviews. So glad I did - I stopped by on my way home around 5 PM on a Tuesday and the lady was super nice! She asked me how high my heels were and went right to work with pinning all the places it needed alterations. When she asked when I needed it by she told me that the normal turnaround time was about 2-3 weeks...which I couldn't do :( I shyly asked if it's possible to get it done earlier and she asked when. After I embarrassingly told her that I needed it the following Tuesday, she smiled and said that that's in a week, but she'll get it done for me. Crazy! I had actually thought they wouldn't get it done in time, but she was SO nice and accommodating. The ONLY thing that I would complain about is the price - it's pricey. To take in my dress about 3 inches and shorten the length by about 4-5 inches cost me about $143. Now normally I would've taken this somewhere else, but I was desperate and had no choice. Sure enough, my dress was done the following Tuesday and it fits beautifully! Length is still a little long, but that was probably my fault in not bringing my heels in to properly fit it. If you're in a hurry and around the area, come here! It might be pricey, but everyone needs an alteration place that'll get things done quickly if needed. Doesn't hurt that the staff is so so nice :) read more

I take all my pants (hey I'm short) to be shortened here. And I've taken an occasional shirt to be altered too. The ladies here are always very pleasant and greet you right when you walk in. I haven't gone anywhere else in years so I guess their prices are standard for the area $10 for a standard hem,and if you want to save the jean hem on the bottom (that way you can't tell they've been altered) $15 (the last time I did this was a while ago, so I think thats what it cost don't quote me?). It takes a week, they have a pretty good little business running there, but if your in real need of something sooner they usually can accommodate. Its easy and they are so pleasant and for me customer service is so lacking these days, I prefer even to pay a bit more if the service is good. If you're local and need some alterations I'd highly recommend these ladies at "Made to Fit", the place has been there a while (though they did move to a different unit). The staff there is so nice! I love going to them to get my clothes hemmed or altered. I've been going there with my Mom for years and we've never been disappointed.
