We visited Lake George for 2 days on a road trip east and ended up coming in for breakfast both days because we enjoyed this place so much! The food is some of the best we've ever had and our breakfasts here were a highlight of our stay. The pastries are fresh and delicious but definitely don't skip out on the sit down meals here. The French toast and crepes were unreal and the potato's are delicious! The service was amazing, our waitresses were incredibly kind and created a very positive experience for us. I really hate leaving a bad review, particularly since our first experience here last year was really good. However, our experience this morning was anything but good, and I'd actually say this was the worst breakfast I've had in years. I ordered what is called the Benedict Maddie which is their take on eggs Benedict. This is my go-to breakfast and their version was nearly inedible. From substituting the English muffin with a brioche bun that can't stand up to the moisture of the eggs and became a stodgy mess of sickly sweet pudding to the curdled and flavorless hollandaise that left me feeling sick afterward. Adding insult to injury was upcharging for ham that is a core ingredient of eggs Benedict. This was absurd given that already astounding prices they charge. Sides were potatoes which were okay, but it was also served with salad that I was suspect of given the current health issues with lettuce. My wife was equally disappointed with what was supposed to be a French omelette but turned out to be an overcooked, open face western omelette that was more like rubber than eggs. Her $9 blueberry smoothie was delicious though Service was slow with only two other tables occupied when we arrived, although our eventual server turned out to be quite pleasant. Coffee was never refilled and the bill for two people was just...well...arrogant. I guess this place really is French. The two stars are for the smoothie and our waiter. This was definitely a French inspired bakery as I can't say the pastry was strictly French. The croissant was not layered and flaky. Still it tasted good. Coffee was so-so but they did a good job. The service was good and the place looked like a great place to have breakfast and lunch. We took ours to go but would try it again to try something different. read more

This bakery is a true gem. We finally made it to this spot on the last day of our trip although I had planned to go from the beginning. The bakery is located a little off the Main Street but it's very short walk. I have to say if you're driving by it's very easy to miss it. My friends and I arrived here on a Tuesday morning and we were immediately greeted by Jocelyn our server. We just wanted a good coffee and some treat so we all got cappuccinos and croissants. The cappuccino was the best I had in my entire stay in Lake George. The girls and I made it a point to order one at every location we went to and nothing compared this place. It was delicious! The croissant was fresh, delicate and had the perfect layered crisp. The place is truly beautiful, it honestly feels like you're in Europe. Every details put into this place truly makes it remarkable. Again, Jocelyn, who is a local, was the sweetest server. She makes sure every customer leaves happy. We also got to meet the owner who bakes every item with much love and care. We loved this place so much we stopped by on our way home that afternoon for their fresh baked sourdough and it was also a hit!! Be sure not to miss this local gem when visiting the area. read more

Our breakfast here was a real vacation buzz kill. I tried and tried to rationalize our experience but really it just adds up to this restaurant being a particularly deceptive tourist trap. We got 2 French seasons 14 dollars each. 14 dollars pays for a drip coffee, a really dense croissant, and a pain au chocolate. Those three items would have been cheaper bought separately. The menu leads you to believe that you will get a juice, a coffee or tea, 2 tartines and 2 baguettes or pastries. The grammar is deceptive. The juice was on a separate line from the coffee or tea, Tartines are bread with spread but can mean lots of things, and there was no colon to link that the pastries and baguette were the tartine options. So, Really you just get a beverage and more or less two pieces of bread. Finally, my husband ordered a ristretto ( extra strength espresso) in addition to his French season, and What he was given tasted suspiciously like my big cup of drip coffee in a tiny cup. Most places don't have ristretto on the menu no one will miss it if it's not there... If you aren't that committed to coffee don't pretend to be. Absolutely loved the ambiance of this place! Highly recommend it for lunch or brunch. The vibes inside were so French, appreciated all the decor and the little touches covering the walls. I ordered a salad and it was wonderful! My boyfriend ordered the risotto. All the food was well seasoned with fresh herbs and beautiful presentation. The owner is authentically French and told us about her story coming to the US and building this restaurant from scratch. She also brings goods and trinkets from France and sells them at the front. The pastries and desserts were amazing as well! Recommend the pistachio ricotta gateau. A tip- this place is dog friendly! We brought a Husky and they were very accommodating. read more

We came in to grab some pastries this morning. We usually try and visit bakeries wherever we are visiting and I saw some great photos on their website. We bought two croissants, a quiche, and a Madeline. When asked about the macarons on the counter, we were told "you have to call ahead to order macarons". I went on their website after we left and I can't find anywhere that says this. Our croissants were not well baked, we found them to be very dense and not flaky at all. Maybe there was just a bad batch today but we did not feel they were worth the money we paid for them. First? The Smells!!! It smells like bread!!! And sooo much more. Breakfast items and pastries were enjoyed by our entire party, and the coffee drinks (both iced and hot) were excellent. We had an amazing dining experience at Madeline1982 while visiting Lake George. During brunch we had a fantastic meal, and decided to come back for Dinner on the same day. Dinner was even more impressive than Brunch. I have to say I was served probably one of the best steaks in my lifetime, and I have had many steaks over the years. Seemed super understaff. Chaotic from the very beginning- lady was yelling and holding up parking in the parking lot. When I asked questions about the menu they seemed very confused. Baked goods were out on the open with no cover. There was also such a small selection of baked goods and it was even noon yet. I waited 25 mins for a coffee that was so bad- looked like steamed milk. What you get is a plate full of salad and a small portion is what you actually ordered. They include the price of a juice into the meal but prepare for them to not have the juice you'd like available. The food was a transportive experience to France with authentic cuisine and a warm ambience. The owner came to personally greet us and share her story behind the restaurant as well as how she partakes in a large part of the cooking itself. I wanted to LOVE this place....We stopped in for coffee, tea and pastries. Pro: place is CUTE Cons: 1. watched 3 employees walk past without a greeting or a "I'll be right with you" while we stood by the pastry case/register for several minutes. 2. Perhaps we were in the wrong place to order "to go" coffee and pastries, so we mosied up to the area that looks like bar/counter seating. The employee behind the counter completely ignored us. When another employee walked past, again not saying a word, I spoke up and said, "excuse me, where can we place an order?" The reply, "over there by the register". This was the same woman who saw us over at the register 6 minutes earlier. The place was not busy...we were THE ONLY couple standing by the register, pastry case and then bar looking to order! 3.we walked the 15 feet back to the register to order and yep, same girl follows us to take our order. WHAT?!? 3. We like REAL coffee and tea....not the candied up coffee beverages and I THOUGHT this French bakery could complete this task without fail. So sad....I was in disbelief when the $4 "black tea" I ordered was Lipton tea! Seriously...didn't even have enough sense to remove the "America's favorite tea" Lipton label on the string. 4. Husband said the coffee was a step above gas station coffee. He ordered a "red eye" that should have, but didn't, a shot of espresso. 5. We left with NO pastries after the coffee/tea order took forever and not one was there a "thank you" "enjoy" or even "have a nice day". a beautiful restaurant but that faded quickly, our server was definitely not experienced or nice. my friend asked for red pepper flakes and the chef came out and was angry and passive aggressive about it saying "next time you're having it my way, not spicy or american" not that there will be a next time. i can understand it's a french restaurant especially if the food was good but the food wasn't and i'm 50% french i grew up eating french food. my chicken was dry as a dessert, so were my friends meatballs. those red pepper flakes were the best thing that happened to the dish. read more
