We visit this shop a few times a year, and our experiences have always been positive. On this visit, I was excited to bring a few friends who were visiting from out of town. they loved the location, the atmosphere, and were looking forward to trying the shop. Unfortunately, this visit was different. while the shop was not busy, a lady in my group was spoken to in a way that we felt was dismissive and unwelcoming. it left us with the impression that we had interrupted whatever was going on at the time. as someone who enjoys supporting local businesses, that was disappointing to experience. I don't normally write reviews like this because I understand that everyone can have a bad day. however, I felt it was important to share my experience in hopes that it helps improve future customer interactions. Please don't let my experience discourage you from visiting. we have had many great visits here in the past, which is why this experience stood out. I also hope to see the lady who is normally here when we visit, as she has always been friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent customer service. I was really looking forward to having a relaxing solo date at Mademoiselle Paris near UTC, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The staff was unexpectedly rude and unwelcoming from the moment I arrived. As someone dining alone, I felt dismissed rather than valued as a customer. The atmosphere may be beautiful, but good service matters just as much, and sadly this visit left me feeling uncomfortable instead of enjoying my time there. I hope management takes customer service more seriously in the future because no one should feel unwelcome for simply coming in alone to enjoy a meal or coffee. read more

We were honestly pretty disappointed by this place. My parents are locals and had highly recommended it. We were in the area doing some shopping and stopped in for lunch. We got a croque monsieur, a gourmande crepe, and several little goodies from the pastry case. Everything tasted stale. My husband's bar for going out to eat is "can I make this better at home?" and the answer fur everything we got was a resounding yes. The croque monsieur was especially disappointing, made with low quality ingredients as opposed to the nice crusty French bread and tangy French cheese you would expect. The crepe was nothing to write home about, and the treats tasted bland like something you'd get at the grocery. All of this at the prices they are wanting is unacceptable to me. The locale is adorable with indoor and outdoor seating. The decor is a little over the top French but I didn't mind. The staff was helpful and accommodating. A very disappointing Eggs Benedict . I felt the eggs, ham, and the sauce was just thrown on the pastry. It was cold and the presentation was nominal. The hollandaise sauce was too lemonade. I stopped into this cute little cafe for an afternoon latte pick-me-up and felt welcome the moment I walked in. The girls behind the counter kept calling me Mademoiselle, which made me feel like I was in Paris without the jet lag. A tempting pastry case was on display, and if I hadn't been so full from lunch, I would have ordered a croissant or scone. My latte was exactly what I needed-hot, flavorful, with a nice vanilla note and a strong coffee kick that got me through the ride home. We stopped by this place for a quick breakfast craving crossiants. On first impressions the outside was beautiful and upon entering we were greated and seated right away. The servers were vibrant and took our drink orders right away. We got a vanilla iced cold brew latte and a caramel iced cold brew latte. Which were overall okay. They were very sweet and lacked a strong coffee flavor. Next after looking over the menu it didnt take long for the servers to be back ready to take our order. We decided on Gourmande (crepe with nutella, banana, strawberries and whipped cream), and the Eggs benedict with prosciutto and a side salad. Our order took 15 minutes to come out after ordering, fast service. And the food looked amazing. The crepe first was thin, light and had a perfect balence of nutella and fruit. It overall wasnt too sweet, and was a perfect sweet breakfast. Very delicious highly reccomend! The eggs benedict looked phenomenal. There was lots of prosciutto , and the hollandaise was to die for, it was perfecly made. The side salad was a little unconventional but the lettuce, and vegetables were fresh and delicious. The dressing was one of my favorites it was well balenced and a perfect homemade dressing to this salad. I would recommend this dish as well. The food was a perfect fast and easy place to stop. While we didnt get any, they had a whole display of fresh pasteries and bread and seasonal coffees and drinks. I have been here several times in the last six months and it doesn't matter if you are sitting inside or out, service is terrible. It takes awhile for anyone to seat you, then longer to order a drink. The last time, I sat for a long time waiting for an iced tea refill and I finally had to stop a different server to get more tea. Went for breakfast this morning. Very disappointed. Eggs (scrambled) were tasteless and watery. Hash browns were very flat dry- as if they had been frozen. The large crepe was flat tasting as well. The bacon was very good and cooked perfectly. But really, how can you screw up scrambled eggs. I couldn't eat them. They do have a very good lemon meringue tart which I've had in the past. Ambiance is a balance of outdoor French charm grounded by the sound of horns honking in the adjacent shopping center parking lot to remind you that you are indeed in Sarasota FL. Service is slow but fine. Just visit when you are not in a rush. It's far more enjoyable that way anyway. My quemper crepe was VERY rich with a lot of goat cheese and quite salty salmon. I want to give it a five because I love the idea and the presentation of the food was wonderful, but, I'd like to comment on the food so explain the 4 stars. The lobster bisque was flavorful but a little too thin. It didn't feel like a traditional bisque. Almost made me feel like they were making it more thinned out to keep the cost down. Although, I'm not sure that is true. The eggs Benedict was beautifully presented and the croissant it came on was delightful, but the egg was way over cooked. It felt like chewing on rubber. Actually, I didn't know an eggs texture could get that rubbery. Someone really really tried to overdo it haha. The hollandaise sauce was a little too tangy. The tang was overpowering the taste of the hollandaise. Overall, I hope they stay and business and keep providing the community with an ethnic experience. Maybe have tastings for the crew when there is something new and the crew needs to be honest with the chef. I didn't try the pastries because nothing jumped out at my but I'm glad they have it in the store for a nice homey touch. If I was looking for somewhere to eat, I would recommend this place for sure. Don't waste your time here! My friend and I were so excited to come here. We planned our whole day out adventure around having breakfast here. Drove in from Tampa and could not have been any more disappointed in our decision! We were seated immediately upon arrival. Given menus and visited 2x by the waitress to see if we were ready to order. We were ready by her second visit. I ordered the ham and cheese crepe (gluten free) and my friend ordered the Croquet Mademoiselle. The food took FOREVER to come out. The place started to get a crowd and there appeared to be only the 1 server. People came in, sat for a bit and got up and left due to not being acknowledged and served. One lady at a table behind us even stopped the server and asked if they could get service. Our food, no lie, took 45 minutes. When it arrived it looked AWFUL, especially my supposed crepe! It didn't even look like a crepe...the outside was all broken apart. I would've been totally embarrassed to have served that to anyone! Upon tasting it, it wasn't warm at all and the cheese wasn't even melted. Disgusting. My friend also had no béchamel sauce with her food. She had to go get the server for her to come over for us to explain our displeasure with the food. She said they were having issues in the kitchen but would get the sauce out and take my food off the bill. She asked if I wanted them to make a new one which I declined. I took her up on the offer of a plain crepe. That took about 5 minutes and it was out. I took a bite and it was gross! Wasn't hot and very chewy, not cooked fully. Most definitely needs improvement and a lot of it. I think this place has potential but they need staffing to be able to accommodate visitors and better cooks. We went as a party of 6 for restaurant week at 6pm. Overall the service was very slow beginning with our welcome, drinks, taking order and food service. We ordered various steak frites and duck breast entrees. Our entrees were trenches with pepper! I did express this to the waiter. The only item that was fairly good was the escargot. Such a wonderful place! We stopped in for a cappuccino, which was made perfectly. The staff is friendly and attentive. Listening to them speak French was a delight! The atmosphere and ambiance is so pretty, romantic and inviting. Lots of Eiffel Tower decor and black and white photographs of elegant looking people. Our server Julia, was pretty unfriendly, she didn't even respond when I said " good morning " or bothered to say thank you. Traveling from out of town, shopped a little at UTC and it's 1:30 so we decided to split a meal. We started with coffee, cappuccino with oat milk and caramel syrup for me, latte for him. We were both very happy with these. Lunch was a bowl of soup, chicken and carrots, and the Coq Breton crepe with a buckwheat crepe which we split. It had tender chicken, a delicious light cream sauce, plenty of mushrooms and dove spinach. This is a lovely dish. Croque Mademoiselle with smoked salmon and Swiss cheese. The sausage was delicious but the ratio of bread to sausage was way off - one thin sausage per 1/2 baguette. Better would be both sausages on one-half baguette. The house salad could have been fresher, with lettuce browned all around the edges. My wife really enjoyed her salmon. My wife & I often like to go out for breakfast and after going to other breakfast restaurants in the Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch area we discovered Mademoiselle Paris at UTC and have made them one of our regular go to places for breakfast. It's a cute place that in some ways reminds me of eating in a French bistro in Paris but it's not a small place and the service is fantastic. Their crepes are out of this world and the egg sandwich on a buttery croissant with Swiss cheese is to die for. There are so many delicious choices on their menu but these are two of our favorites. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's located in the Shoppes at University Center. We were greeted right away and were helped by a pleasant lady. She was helpful and patient as we asked lots of questions about the the wide variety of pastries they offered. They all looked beautiful and tempting. We decided on six macarons, two different types of cakes and two lattes. I could have easily ordered more pastries, but held back. The coffees were good, strong. We exercised some self control and waited until later that evening to indulge in the pastries. Everything was divine! The cakes were soft, moist and were not overly sweet. Prices are ridiculously high ($14.60 for a Nutella/banana/strawberry crepe. Even in a French tourist area you wouldn't get ripped off like that). Poached eggs were cold and seemed like they had been taken out of refrigeration rather than made fresh, when both poached eggs were on the plate basically untouched waitress did not care to question why they were not consumed when she took the plate away. First we had the petite dejunier, a nice little basket containing a tasty baguette, a buttery and flaky croissant, and some delicious jam. We followed this with a crepe, eggs, bacon, fruit, and smoked salmon. The other diner in my party enjoyed the eggs and crepe, and also the bacon, which I also enjoyed.
