Today, we drove back from a lovely hike in Point Reyes National Seashore and decided to stop by Novato to check out a couple of stores, including DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse. I was hoping to find a specific pair of Skechers I had seen online so I could try them on and, if they fit well, purchase them at the same price or lower. When we arrived, I happened to run into a store associate and asked if they carried Skechers. She kindly walked me to the section where they were located and mentioned that they might have a few pairs in their Clearance section at the back of the store. While they did not have the pair I was looking for, I found several other brands, such as Cole Haan and Florsheim, that caught my attention, so I decided to try them on. In the end, we did not make any purchases this time, but we plan to return in a few weeks to see what they have then. read more

I understand what DSW is so based on that they get 4 stars. DSW is a shoe store that has their entire inventory out which creates a self help situation for the shopper. You know right away if the shoe on display has your size by looking down at the inventory stacked below. You won't find the latest greatest models of shoes but you will find something for your feet. Manage expectations. You aren't shopping at Nordstrom or even Neiman Marcus designer shoe parlours. I bought New Balance for my sweet mother in law. Then I bought a pair for my loving husband. They both LOVE their new shoes, the fit, and how it makes their bodies feel. I'm delighted that I have made straightforward no fuss purchases at a great price to persuade both of them to exclusively buy footwear that fits well from day 1 while supporting your body. I knocked off a star because while I do understand their great prices are due to self service and not stocking the latest style. I wanted the latest style New Balance like mine from Nordstrom. I was too lazy to drive to Nordstrom Corte Madera when I also wanted to take my MIL clothes shopping at the lovely Vintage Mall. They have different inventory online vs in person at this location so do check there as well. Lots of parking, easy try on and purchase, friendly staff, easy return/exchange. This is a busy location, so it is understandable the staff is usually preoccupied. Most of them are great despite this. They try to help as they can even they are bogged down by a line full of customers. However, Hannah..... is the epitome of bad customer service. I get there is a lot of people there, but if you can't even put on a professional attitude while at work maybe don't work with customers. As I said they are busy, I came up and she made a line full of customers wait because she was gossiping to a co-worker. Finally the manager asked her to jump on a register and she did. I swear snails move faster and once the manager left, she tried to continue her gossiping over the registers and in between instructions for the customer. I had questions, but forget it, maybe it's best to find another place to get my shoes. This wasn't worth my time. The selection is pretty broad and easy to find something you need no matter the occasion. And they have great brands that are well worth it. The price is usually pretty reasonable and they have a great clearance section. read more

I like DSW. There is a wide bar of shoes and purses for men and women. On my last visit I noticed the purse section has moved to the back area near the discount area. The purse section is much smaller that in the past. I also notice a larger variety of measure shoes. It's a great place shop. I would stop by DSW on a regular basis because you never know what you'll find and the good shoes go very fast. Find the latest shoes at DSW. The young inexperienced woman was a little aggressive taking shoes out of their boxes touching it all over the place instead of simply scanning it appropriately as per DSW standards. If your store manager can PLEASE train your new people to have better manners with peoples' shoes and have social decorum about how to properly handle brand new purchases when people buy them in store then the satisfaction score review would be better. This applies even when it's ordered online. Just because it is busy does not mean that it is okay to be showing up on the floor like that, and considering it is the Holidays, it must always be pleasant even more than off season. Please do not be on the floor if you cant deliver excellent customer service. We aint having it. The negative is for the awful experience at the cashier station. The star foe this review is for the second young lady at the cashier that was more than pleasant with the cashier experience after letting the other one know not to touch peoples' brand new shoes inside the boxes. DSW is now using The Retail Equation to monitor return activity. Today My return was denied. I have 4 weddings coming up so I am trying to find shoes that go with the dresses. I bought several pair online and returned them last weekend to the Scottsdale store, and bought 3 more. Today I was returning two pairs I bought last Saturday and the return was denied. Nowhere in the store is there anything about this new policy. All returns were made with the proper receipts and credit cards, no shady business or fraud. Umbelievable policy for such a great store. When I bought shoes last weekend there was no warning that they could not be returned and I would have never asked as I have never had an issue. The is a shameful way to do business. read more

So I called about my shoes I bought and the gentleman this morning at 10:28am said that once they get my order ready, they would email me to pick it up. Tell me why I got a notification on the app saying it was cancelled today? I never cancelled my shoe order at all. I just called to ask if it was ready. That's so frustrating and disappointing like I was very nice to you over the phone asking and all of the sudden it's cancelled without my permission? Pricing seems dishonest. Bought some shoes yesterday and then just out of curiosity looked up the retail price on the website of the company that makes them. The shoes I bought at DSW were in the clearance section, they were priced at full retail... The same price as I would've paid on the website of the manufacturer. How can your clearance price be the same as retail? Also when I was checking out the cashier said I could get an additional 20% off by providing my email and phone number. I went here recently and scored. I found a pair of tennis shoes (real court shoes) at a huge discount. I also picked up a pair of casual shoes for work and they were decently priced. The sales people were friendly and helpful. The store was large, clean and had a great selection. The young man who helped me was very polite and pleasant. It's the burbs, so parking was plentiful. This place is great if you're looking for men's dress shoes at a great bargain. I currently work for Chase bank and wearing the same shoes everyday takes a toll on your dress shoes (especially if you tend to be frugal about your buys). I didn't visit here by choice, but only because my significant other asked me to come with her and of course I'm such a good boyfriend. Surprisingly enough I had more success finding items then she did. They have a lot of name brands with great discounts. The last pair of shoes I had only gave me a couple good months before they fell apart so I actually needed a decent pair of dress shoes. Lucky me I found a great pair of Steve Madden dress shoes for almost 60% off!! I'm not too familiar with brand names but I am familiar with Steve Madden. I was ecstatic to find shoes for such a good deal. For men, who often get shortchanged with a small amount of selections in other shoe stores that stock a mountain of women's shoes, have plenty of styles to browse here. This is serve yourself, what's on the racks is what they have. And if you are around a size 9, your size is probably sold out. Admittedly most of the shoes here are made in china, which IMHO are inferior quality to shoes made in Europe or Brasil. On a rare occasion a non-Chinese made pair can be found. Prices? Many popular brands of the most recent styles are not discounted much from MSRP. Discounts are as low as $5 off a $80 pair of shoes. The real deals are to be found in the back of the room clearance section. But for guys the pickin's there can be pretty meager. So, is this a great shoe store? In my absence, my new favorite discount shoe store popped up in my old favorite discount mall. I don't think I need to tell you that I took my sweet time trying on lots and lots of shoes in the huge clearance section, and finally picked out two pairs of comfy-cute work flats (Ann Taylor and Aerosoles). The only thing stopping me from giving DSW five stars is their lack of sizes Paris Hilton would wear. I know, sounds funny! But Paris and I have the same shoe size though we are not related in any way! Size 11's are hard to come by and DSW does have a few styles in 11 and even 12. But just a few! I went in yesterday and was only able to purchase 1 pair. There were so many cute shoes and so little in my size. I had to check the Zappos website while in the store to see if they had my size in any of the shoes I wanted. Alas, they did. Ordered a pair of shoes in our local store. Told the clerk I wanted them in size 8 1/2 medium. The store did not have my size. The clerk put in the order. When I received the shoes they were extra wide. I reviewed the order confirmation, and saw that they were ordered in extra wide. When I looked at the item on the DSW website, ALL sizes were extra wide only. So, I had to pack them up and travel to the UPS store to return it. The clerk should have seen that the shoes were was not available in the size I wanted, told me, and never ordered it. read more

Very, very thankful that this shoe store opened a (more accessible for me) location in the North Bay- even though it will no longer mean that I get to talk shoes with the glorious drag queens in the Women's Size 11 Clearance Section at the DSW in Union Square. Maybe I'll get lucky in Novato, too. Anyways, that Clearance Section is the biggest draw for me whenever I visit. This location always stocks a bigger assortment of marked-down shoes than anywhere else in Marin, and you can definitely find current season styles there, usually reduced by only 30%. Off season items can be reduced by almost 70%. Outside the Clearance Section, there are neatly organized aisles of many, many different kinds of shoes, for all genders, ages, styles and price ranges. There are also handbags, scarves, socks, tights, and wallets for sale, but the reason you go here is for shoes, right? So for a woman with feet like mine, it always feels great to walk into a shoe store and NOT have to see the same, tired menagerie of comfort sandals, Converse sneakers, ugly platforms, and neon slip-ons in my size section. Okay, I haven't even set foot into the DSW in my hood yet, but I JUST got off the phone with one of their customer service associates, Marcus. I was surfing the web today for some boots, and found some on the DSW website. I really need them for tomorrow, and don't want to have to wait for shipping...so, what does a resourceful girl do (other than try to get next-day air)? She calls the store. Well, after giving Marcus the UPC code, he sadly told me that they did not have this item in stock. He even went out of his way to check the store, after I provided him with the brand and style. He asked if he could look in other areas of the store and give me a call back. While I didn't think that was necessary, because, knowing me, I'd probably find another pair in person that I would like better, I really appreciated his gesture of being willing to follow through. If customer service over the phone is this good, I'm definitely going in to shop there! What a mess. Men's dress shoe area against wall area was impossible to shop. I was looking to purchase 2-3 pairs of dress shoes in the 100 dollar range. The displays are completely mixed up and the boxes beneath the displays are terrible. Trying to get help wasn't possible because only 1 cashier at front of store. Pretty sure not store management has in mind. I would suggest that this and most other areas of the store be reorganized and sorted out. Cannot imagine trying to buy shoes again at this store. Good news is that there was a Nordstrom rack across parking lot which was far better organized. read more

It's a shoe warehouse, you'd think I would find something I could wear for work?Not so much. Women's shoe selection was very heavy on decorated ballet flats and high heels. There were some athletic shoes, but the selection outside of ballet flats, heels, and strappy sandals was limited. Thought I'd check out the mens, but they only stock 8.5 and above in most men's shoes. Their bargain section was actually appealing with stickers carrying anywhere from 40-70+ percent off the already reduced priced. I love it here, because it did the impossible...it had running shoes that actually fit me, and they were less than one hundred bucks. Miracle!! I don't know if it was just luck, or that they have a really wide variety of brands and styles so I was bound to find something, but after going to half a dozen sports equipment stores and specialty boutique-like places I was pretty sick of trying on shoes. When I came here it was just what I needed, to be given some space to try lots of things in lots of sizes, finding something (cue angels here) and then getting them purchased fairly quickly and super economically... 70 dollars...yay! read more

The best part of this store is the rewards program! I don't have to spend money to earn money. I get $10 here, $10 there sent to my account and to my home. Usually I stop by here on my way to Sephora and/or Target. But more and more often, I find myself coming up to Vintage Oaks shopping center for DSW, and I'm stopping by Sephora and Target since I'm out there. I like to roam the aisles and peruse the shoes, but today I discovered the CLEARANCE SECTION. My gawd. I had no idea. So you walk through the clearance and everything is organized by size. I cruise through the 8.5, seeing a couple markdowns that catch my eye, and then I notice that they are all color coded. Red, for example, is an additional 50% off. Purple was an additional something off, green and yellow. I don't recall exactly what each color amounted to, but what a deal! I ended up getting a gorgeous pair of tan sandals for the upcoming spring/summer dresses/rompers, Nine West, originally $99, rang up as $35, and I had two $10 rewards cards with me. What? I walked out of there feeling like I stole them. It is always clean. Sooooometimes I have trouble finding my size, but I so love all their selections, and that there are always boots, always sandals, always heels, always sneakers... I can always find what I'm looking for. Go, and sign up for their rewards program! read more

Prices are not as discounted as I would expect but improvements have undoubted been made. 1. They have a great staff. I love working with Claudia. She was so patient and help. When you are disabled and can't reach your size 10 box or have trouble figuring out the shoe system she is great to have helping you. And unlike some higher end stores you don't suddenly loose your rep because another shopper looks more likely to spend $$$. 2. They finally carry Vionic shoes and sandals. Keep carrying them please as the entire world needs to know about these shoes. 3. I do like their discount and Bday program - you get mailers or emails on occasion for an extra $10 off your next purchase. Who doesn't want free money when you have to buy shoes for a growing child or a vacation. 4. Speaking of vacations..headed to Hawaii in January and need some out of season gear - they just might have what you are looking for in their expansive inventory that includes both day and night wear! 5. I have bought a half dozen or more shoes there since the holidays and I like each and every one of them. And, unlike the issue I had at the village where a big box-no discount pair of shoes can no longer be ordered from the cashier and shipped. At DSW, they are eager to ship or have it ready at the store! I recommend them if you are looking for average to slightly undercut price wise shoes, that are not defective like some discount stores, and for those who still enjoy service and a good selection. I was sooo happy when I found out there was another DSW to shop at, instead of the SF location. The SF DSW is still great, but this Novato one has free, and available parking, and I don't have to deal with city traffic. DSW is a definitely a heavenly place. When I enter, my eyes light up, and I feel like a kid in a candy store. So many styles, so many fantastic deals, so much available. I actually came to this store because I ordered some DSW shoes online and had to return them. Instead of paying shipping to send it back, I was able to return the shoes at the store. The sales clerk was very helpful and processed my return with ease. I tried to leave the store without taking a look (because I just bought 2 more pairs of shoes online) but I could not resist. I left the store with a new boots and flats. DSW is definitely one of my favorite places to shop. Now that I know there is a store I can actually enter and browse, I will be visiting this location more and more. read more

I love DSW!!!!! They have the largest selection of heels, pumps, and booties I've ever seen. They have every style of shoe you could possibly think of....everything from comfort mules and clogs to club heels. I bought this fabulous pair of Audrey Brooks (DSW brand I think) black suede pumps with an ankle strap for about $65 and I have to say they are my favorite shoes ever. They are easy to wear yet still totally sharp and sexy looking. Love love love them! Their clearance section is awesome too. I found some black suede Guess booties for about $40 bucks, super cute. They have cute purses and accessories but a little too pricey for me. They have a large variety of flat shoes but also a little too pricey. Look to Ross for a nice cheap pair of flats. The customer service is great, the store is clean, and I can always find exactly what I'm looking for here! read more

Had the worst experience here! Will never come here again & will not recommend to anyone!!! Me and my sister were falsely accused of shop lifting and had the police called on us by the manager Tara. I shop at dsw often online but not so much in store and now I will be taking my business else where! I had my child with me and I am completely shocked that she would accused me of shop lifting and then had 6 police officers waiting outside. I feel completely embarrassed and humiliated! So sad that I have to give them a 1 start review just to post this when they deserve none! But thank you to Angel who was amazing during check. 5 months later and still nothing !
