I work in the mall so I frequently stop in to see what's new. In the last 5-6 times I've been in, there have been several employees around and all have completely ignored me. As a retail manager, I would be appalled if my team treated customers the way these employees do. Excellent experience shopping for jeans today- Was greeted by very friendly associates, and Katie was extremely helpful. I told her generally what I was looking for and she pulled down multiple options, kept checking back and offering alternatives. I left with a better understanding of the fit and materials, and more importantly, with jeans I am really happy with- fit and style and comfort. I have walked past Madewell in the past assuming it was only for the very young, slim and trendy, and am so happy to have gone in and found age and style appropriate jeans. Seriously, I love Madewell!! The obsession started a year ago when I bought their signature transport tote bag and got it monogrammed for free. I mean, who else does that?? Since then, my collection has grown exponentially to several dresses, tops, Bandanas and 4 different tote bags. Look, I had to get all the different sizes, ok? Besides their cute clothes, the customer service is unmatched. Mostly everyone at this location is helpful, sweet and just overall nice. I had a return once that was difficult but the manager went above and beyond and called into their return department to make sure it was taken care of. Until their online shopping was recently enabled, the Madewell store in the Century City mall was one of the few places where you could browse the girly, trendy looks of this brand. It's J.Crew's sister brand and features similar trends but with a bit of a modern edge. They also feature other brands that I love like Hunter rain boots and linea pelle leather bracelets. It's a really well-curated collection. Although I find some of their clothes to be a bit pricey, I have found some amazing deals on their sale racks, including beautiful scarves and pretty summer tops. They also have some fantastic jewelry - their specialty these days seems to be those chunky layered necklaces with lots of rhinestones... the perfect accessory for a night out! The cheapskate in me feels that I could find a lot of the stuff they sell for cheaper elsewhere, but I always make it a point to visit and see if there are any steals to be had. Some of my favorite pieces are from this store, and because it's still relatively limited, you won't be walking around in the same thing as a million other girls on the street! read more

A younger, fresher, affordable version of Jcrew. Madewell is located in Century City mall. This store launched by Jcrew currently has 2 locations. I was in Los Angeles this past weekend and decided to check it out. The prices are about 20%-30% cheaper than Jcrew. Soft basic tees run about $15.95. Lambswool sweaters start at about $50. Madewell is definitely more casual than Jcrew. This store offers a huge variety of basics that can be mixed and matched. They have really cute cardigans, thermals, tees, sweaters and scarves. Unfortunately they currently only carry women's clothing. Hopefully they'll integrate Men's soon. I bought a thermal cardigan that I love!! It was only $34.95 and it's super comfy! The colors of their sweaters are great! They have the perfect shades for the season. Bright warm reds, vibrant blues and greens, deep rich purples. They also have really cute boots! After the Holidays I am definitely going back to buy more for myself. read more

I am obsessed with their jeans! Service here is excellent too. They have stylists that work the floor and they help with fitting and choosing outfits. Rachel (store manager) and other employees must have made about 10 phone calls to find out what was wrong with the empty balance on my gift card. After all the back and forth, the balance was recovered and Rachel gave me an extra 5% discount on top of two other discounts (30% and 15% + 5% = 50% !!!) on my last purchase for the inconvenience. Sweet! Despite Madewell's mistake, I really appreciated how the store manager tried to find out what happened as soon as I left the store and made my experience memorable with the thoughtful messages. In another store visit, an employee helped me decide between four pairs of jeans and gave me very well-articulated opinions on each. As someone who likes the quality of J. Crew clothes but doesn't always gravitate toward their fit and styles, I was happy to find a cuter, trendier version of the brand in its sister store, Madewell. Full-priced, their merch is almost as expensive as J. Crew's (I'm a dedicated browser of the J. Crew online clearance section), but I do like the quality of fabric, plus their jeans have that nice supersoft quality that doesn't make you feel like you're wearing, well, jeans. I'm fairly nitpicky about jeans, and I refuse to spend a small fortune on them, so it's nice to know that there's at least one store whose denim fits me well and has decent sales. It doesn't look as though there are too many brick-and-mortar Madewell stores, but there are good deals to be snagged on the site, anyway. The t-shirts and tanks are still pricier than my budget can allow, but I nabbed a few pairs of the Rail Straight jeans online for almost half of the $100 price tag, so I'm happy. read more

Thank you Jcrew! Mostly basics like Jcrew but with more colors and better prints. Scarves are "in" this season and they have a wide variety of them. The prints on the sweaters were so witty and cute. They have outerwear, tshirts, designer jeans (usually $100 but found some that were $50), and all that jazz. It's the type of clothes that you'd be able to keep for many years because the style is classic and the quality of their clothes can withstand years of washing. About their jeans. It's like magic or something. It just fits. After years, literally years of searching for a perfect pair that would fit my butt I found it. I've tried every designer jean out there and only Madewells fit and makes me look good. That doesn't convince you? My two other friends with totally different figures (one is stick skinny) bought jeans here too because it fit them and made them look good too. I don't know how they do it. I learned from Madewell that you're supposed to wash your jeans after three wearings of it to keep the shape. Not that I do, but it's a good tip. Also about their jeans, ask them about their promo. My friend introduced me to this store, well actually their website because they have no stores in the Bay Area/ NorCal. So this weekend I finally made a trip out to LA to visit some friends and begged to go to the Century City mall to visit this Madewell store. And you know what, I wasn't one bit disappointed. I loved every minute of it. In fact, I came in with one of my guy friends, and had to go back out because I felt so overwhelmed. The Sales Associates are very friendly and very helpful. I believe the one that helped me out was Lauren. I don't really remember. But she and the other sales associates were all very helpful and friendly. I love this store! I was looking for a pair of Regan boots that went on sale and was sold out online. I called the store to see if they had it and unfortunately they didn't but the sales associate didn't just give me a no answer. She looked in the system and found some stores that still carried it and gave me 5 numbers I could try to find the boot. Needless to say, after the second call I made, I found the boots and was able to purchase it! I love that I can always get great service at Madewell. I went here last year around July or August. I love Madewell and unfortunately, there isn't one in the Bay Area, which I find to be madness! But I made a trip down to SoCal with my lady friends and we had to stop by. It was such a cool store and I love the set up. It felt more like a boutique than a chain store, which I liked. I discovered this store through Yelp...and I love this site even more for that. This store is J.Crew's sister line (if you didn't know that), but it targets a younger crowd, and it's located in the Century City Shopping Center...it's an outdoor mall so it's nice to walk around with the California sun shining down, wearing sunglasses, sipping on coffee.. anyways, the salespeople were VERY friendly and did not look even one bit annoyed when i tried on erm. practically the whole store. They also had a great sale section and even the items not on sale were reasonably priced... My only complaint is that the location is somewhat out of the way...but if I'm on campus, then the drive is not too bad. yay! i love this store! read more

Let me start by saying that this store is known for their jeans (right?) & I really loved what I bought here, and the staff was friendly and helpful... However, FALSE ADVERTISING is just unacceptable. This was my first trip to a Madewell store and I did so because of the advertised 25% entire purchase sale. It was stated on the website and plastered on store front and sidewalk chalkboard. (25% ENTIRE PURCHASE) no exclusion were mentioned what so ever. I love a bargain so I make the trip and spend about an hour at the store trying on various items. I settled on 2 pairs of jeans, 2 tee shirts, and a sweater... I was a little shocked when I was rang up and the total was $400. The quick math I was doing in my head thought it would be closer to $330 but there was a long line behind me so I kept it moving. When I was outside the store I looked over my receipt... The 25% discount only applied to the 3 tops I had purchased. Nothing on the jeans!!! The most expensive items! I looked at the sign again to make sure I hadn't missed something. 25% ENTIRE PURCHASE right there on the front of the store. When I went back in to ask about it the sales girl about it she let me know that the sale excluded jeans and rambled off a few other items. When I told her that the sign and website where misleading she gave me a puzzled look I really wasn't in the mood to make a scene about it but was completely annoyed about the situation and the perceived naiveness coming from the sales girl... Long story short I will enjoy the jeans I purchased but I won't be coming back and supporting the brand any further. I was waiting for my friend to try on her dress and noticed that she had different attitude towards customers with different nationalities, sort of disappointed to see this happen in that store. I love everything about this store. It's a small store but this place packs a punch! They have everything from jeans, chunky sweaters, layering cardigans, embellished t shirts, button ups, oxfords, motorcycle boots, and the list seriously goes on. They have alot of merchandise that is featured on the website which is nice because you get to actually see the product in person. The items in the store are somewhat cheaper than their J Crew family but it's still pretty pricey. $100 for jeans, $50 for embellished t shirts, and boots run from $200 and up. But don't let the prices scare you, they have a great sale section in the back! If you live in LA and crave a chic wardrobe, I would definitely stop by Madewell location. read more

This is my favorite store! I believe there are only 2 of them or something like that, so if you want to go, you probably need to head to this particular one. They have some of the cutest, great quality clothes. They are owned by JCrew, but are quite a bit more relaxed and less stuffy than the J. Crew clothes (no suits). If you are looking for a good pair of skinny jeans, a scarf, cute boots, or a fun, super colorful shirt, this is the place to go! Just don't go too much.. I LOVE MADEWELL. I believe this is the only branch is California? I hope it stays that way. It's Jcrew's sister store, but i think it calls out more to the younger crowd. Yes it is what you can call 'east coast fashion.' Their cords are sooo comfy i love them. They were exactly what I was looking for. Last year I got a bunch of cute cardigans and long sleeves from here too. They have great accessories that can be paired up with a lot of the simple and plain clothing that they carry. It's in Century City mall which is a good shopping place. I really want some of their adorable scarves, but they are a bit expensive. Really expensive actually, and probably not worth it.
