"Food trucks 7 days a week" is a false claim that needs to be updated on the website and phone recording - couldn't get a phone to ring at the main brewery but called the pier location, phone instantly rang and they confirmed "food trucks are super rare" Not to mention it's impossible to get ahold of the Main brewery via phone in order to confirm food truck availability - which is necessary since the online food truck calendar is not at all updated - despite the website and phone both saying to check the online food truck calendar- doesn't matter when no one is able to know what food trucks are there. read more

MadeWest is by far, my favorite brewery in Ventura! They always have a great selection of beers on tap and are also releasing awesome seasonal beers. The place is wide open and has an outdoor patio as well. It's a great spot to watch sports as well. You can usually count on a food truck at the location. On top of great beer, the staff is amazing. They are friendly, serve you quick and keep the place looking clean. If you're needing a recommendation on what to order, they'll have you covered. They are big reason to come here. I'm a big fan of MadeWest Brewing Company! Their Hazy IPA has become a go-to beer for me no matter the occasion. So, I was very excited to check out their brewery in Ventura when the opportunity presented itself. My experience here did not disappoint. I found this location to be fairly low-key, providing the perfect atmosphere for an afternoon drink. Service was nice and friendly. Being a big Hazy IPA fan, I can be pretty picky about the taste and quality. That has never been a concern with MadeWest, as they consistently serve one of the best Hazy IPAs out there. I have had Made West beer before in cans I have found in San Diego. I had never had it fresh from the tap before. So, when visiting a friend in Ventura and we were invited to grab a couple pints we were happy to oblige. They have two spots in Ventura, one on the pier and the main brewery in a business park. We stopped by both. I had the coffee vanilla porter, it was so good! I also later had the IPA but I'm not a good judge of IPA. Don't take my word for it though, try them yourself! read more

Madewest is a cool place to hang out. It's right down the street from my work. I prefer this location to the one on the beach. It's chill ! I also like most of the trucks they have there.. FatBoys, Birria El Guero and this Greek truck I can't remember the name to are delicious! The only one I don't love is Taste of Malibu. I remember at one time they had bands every so often too. Just left this place that we liked as we been a few times. Today a family of maybe five should have gone to Chuck E. Cheese with their loud kids running around by our table. Screaming, and not one parent thought it was rude to the other patrons. The staff didn't give a hoot. The employee cleaning tables seemed bother by it but when I stated to her the issue she had the attitude of a turtle! We were going to change our table but these brats took over the whole brewery. People left! I saw that one of the baby daddies either was the owner or just worked there didn't give a rats ass!!! There was only one lady parent who sat with her children as I call well behaved and they were coloring at the table. The other mothers were standing right behind our chairs yapping. They had plenty of room to move their rudeness on the other-side. So bad parents, bad kids!! You didn't even deserve the one star! read more

Nestled on the 2nd floor, the bar for craft beers is served above the restaurant and kept separate from the seafood restaurant and their bar. You can have your food brought up to enjoy your beer, but don't try getting a cocktail from below. MadeWest is an independent craft brewer. Their selection isn't long, but they are great at what they are doing. They are along with the trend of ever-growing IPAs, so if your tastes are less hoppy and maltier, their style may not suit your fancy. The service is wonderfully cheery. You can tell the staff is excited about their product and this is a great thing. So order a glass and enjoy something new or familiar. read more

This was my 2nd visit to Madewest Brewing Co. and this place is the perfect combination of a good time, easy vibes and great beer. This past Sunday (11/25), we celebrated my wife's birthday at MadeWest. We reserved their private room which is absolutely free, but needs to be reserved in advance and is available on a first come, first serve basis. The private room is available as long as you have a 20 person minimum and we had the room from 12-4 p.m. Outside food is allowed or you can have food delivered in. If you don't feel like bringing your own snacks, they encourage you to utilize the food trucks right out front. Tables and chairs are provided and they have a special window where you have access to order beer or be assisted by their staff. Madewest is not only dog friendly, but kid friendly as well. We saw many young families with their kids and it's nice to be able to grab a beer and have lunch with the fam in an easy environment. If you want to just grab a beer and listen to some live music, this is the place to be. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and it's plenty big to have your friends get together. All in all, MadeWest is making a name for themselves in Ventura Co. and they are a local favorite. Looking forward to coming back soon! Recently visited this brewery and I really enjoyed it. Bright and airy space that has plenty of info and outdoor seating. I popped in for a glass of beer and got a chance to check out the food truck parked outside (Shaifer's Kitchen). The women behind the bar were very friendly, knowledgeable and had great customer service. I explained that I typically prefer blonde beers and one of the women expertly guided me towards their standard. Perfect recommendation of a cool, crisp and refreshing beer that quenched my thirst on a hot summer's day. I definitely plan to come back and check out their other offerings. read more

Let's start of by staying that the brewery has a pretty cool set up and beautifully designed. Nice big open spaces with a lot of community tables. It has a nice big patio outside. It also has a nice private room to host a good size party. The brewery is also kids and pet friendly so that was a plus. As for the service. They were pretty awesome and friendly. So why just the two star? Well for a person who love drinking beer. I was very disappointed with the beer we had. BEER 1) Porter 8% ABV. One of the most disappointing porter I had in a while and Porter and Stout are my favorite to drink. First of Madewest porter was so carbonated and watery and had a sour after taste. Didn't taste any notes of toffee, dark chocolate and vanilla. I didn't bother finishing it. BEER 2) RAMBLER ( Mexican Amber Lager) 5.7 ABV The result same as the Porter. VERY carbonated . ( Look at my photo) the beer tasted like a New Castle. Sorry Madewest even though I see your beer's at Whole food shelves. I just can't see myself buying and coming back to brewery anytime soon. read more

This place is cute and hip. Definitely a place to check out but not to repeat. The beers were okay. I got the porter and it was just mediocre. It was cool that they had live music on Saturday BUT the acoustic was so bad, you couldn't hear them or anyone you were with. My friend had never been to Ventura before, so I really wanted to show her the pier. Unfortunately, it was raining all day, so not a great day to walk on the beach. We found solace in MadeWest Brewing Company. It is on the second floor, so it overlooks the pier, but it is surrounded by glass and there are heat lamps everywhere. It was a way for us to enjoy the scenery without being stuck in the rain. It was really clean and spacious, and there were lots of people enjoying the view, but it did not seem crowded. The staff were very attentive, and the food from downstairs was excellent. I got the pale ale, and it was delicious. I would love to have tried more, but I was pacing myself for the Ventura Winter Wine Walk. We were able to hang out and chat there for a couple hours, it was lovely. I would love to come back on a not rainy day and try more beer. read more

You really can't go wrong making beer these days and Made West hits on all the necessary points in this regard. Overall the space is good though nothing special and not particularly intimate or distinctive in any regard. They do have a really nice private party room with a dedicated window to the bar! Nice design touch there. Beers when we visited we pretty straight up. A couple IPA's, a Pale, a good porter and a very ineresting beer called the Made West classic. A Clean, flavorful, drinkable Cream Ale. No food at Made West but there was a great food truck there the day we visited so no complaints there. . Made West is a bit out of the way but no more so than a lot of breweries in the area. Industrial spaces don't deliver the character of a more dedicated space but hey, your're there for the beer not the ambiance right !? Overall a solid effort that kinda fits the good but predictable mold of the places popping up on the central coast these days. :-) read more

I fell in love with MadeWest after my visit! So much that I look for their beers everywhere I go now. Currently they require you to purchase a $5 meal voucher along with your drinks that you can use downstairs. We got a clam chowder which was exactly $5 and had the sea of clouds DIPA. Wow it was the best IPA I've ever had. They said they sold a limited release of it in cans before and it sold out super quick. Came in here for a drink Friday night. One drink became two then three then four. I lost count because I kept chugging to avoid having to deal with people. Don't come here for date night. Come here with people you don't really like so you don't have to hear them when they're talking. I don't know how the noise level is on any other nights, but Friday night was ridiculous. I legitimately couldn't hear anyone from my circle. We sat towards the back. There were 12 of us. I only ended up talking to 4 people because it was impossible to hear anyone more than 3 feet away. I felt like I was yelling the whole time. On the up side, it was nice to see folks from different walks of life. Some people even had their kids with them. There were some who rode their bikes there or even walked there. I had the porter, ipa and red rye ipa. The red rye was too hoppy for my liking. The ipa was so so. I really liked the porter, but it tasted lighter than I prefer. I had a few people take a sip and the consensus was it tasted a bit like coffee. I'd like to come back on a different night just to see if I'll have a better experience. I will say that the service was good. I did however find it a bit odd that literally the whole staff were men. read more
