They were in the process of redoing the floors, again, with wood. Most of the residents are in the dining room. Serving staff brought them menus from which they could choose what they would like to have for their meal. Very impressive. Lots of areas for them to do different activities. There was a coffee kiosk. Exercise equipment. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. I don't see where you can go wrong having one of your loved ones reside in this beautiful facility.

The residents have a call pendant that they press when they need assistance. It takes the staff at least a half of an hour to respond, sometimes longer. Their staff is constantly changing. At times they are so short handed that their employees are working double shifts which is quite often. At times they have been so short staffed that they have to get their help from a temp agency. The lady working in the business office seems to be obsessed with how much money the potential resident may have.

We first met Pat and Michael on their wedding anniversary and they canceled their plans to take my mom in their lovely home the same day. They provided snacks and healthy home cooked meals, activities to help keep my mom and other residents engaged, and top notch care around the clock. Pat & Michael rented a van over Christmas and took my mom out to see the pretty lights. They celebrated her birthday with flowers, presents and decorated their house. During a hurricane warning, they invited my dad to come stay with them. My family and I were always welcome to visit and stay however long we wanted. They regularly sent us pictures and texts to let us know how my mom was doing, which was really sweet. Being in a private, loving home is so much more welcoming than a sterile facility. Towards the end of my moms life, Pat was feeding my mom every meal and trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. They treated my mom and family with kindness and respect, and we are forever grateful. I can't say enough great things about Pat's Serenity Home Care. I highly recommend the family as they take excellent care of your loved ones!

I had been given directions to another…read morefacility nearby, but when I saw the Arden Courts sign and my GPS said I'd arrived, I pulled in. I'm so grateful I did. I missed my next appointment because I was given a tour and immediately knew this was the right place for my mom. The community is small, warm, and easy to navigate -- it feels like a home, not an institution. I love the intimate dining rooms and the individual living areas for each hall. Shan'a and her assistant Aixa are fantastic about keeping in touch and are always easy to reach for even minor questions. The nurses call with any updates or changes, which gives me so much peace of mind. I had been my mom's caregiver in my home, so I know firsthand how hard this job is. Arden Courts has a terrific management team and caregivers who truly care. Many of them have been there a long time -- Bernice, Jaquice, Gigi, and Kate have all given my mom so much attention and affection. My mom no longer speaks and mostly communicates with a smile, but every caregiver still stops to greet her and often gives her a hug. She's also a fall risk and likes to get up at night so she doesn't "miss anything" -- she has always been this way. The evening shift lets her stay with them in the dining room while they finish their tasks, then they tuck her into bed when she starts getting sleepy. That kind of flexibility and compassion is rare, and it means a great deal to me. Before Arden Courts, she lived in an assisted living community with her husband and complained about the food constantly. Now she enjoys her meals and the special activities the staff plans. About once a month, they host a family event, which is such a thoughtful way to bring everyone together. My daughter says it feels like a sorority house -- and honestly, I love that image. Arden Courts has been a blessing, and I'm so grateful for the care and warmth they've shown my mom.

It has been a journey dealing with Alzheimer's, but having the staff at Mission Oaks by my side has made this difficult time easier to deal with. I've learned so much from them and adjusted as we go along. The food is great! The Activities are wonderful and the activities personnel, Danielle and Nora are beyond great! Their trips on the bus are especially meaningful now that Mom can't walk on her own. It's so wonderful for her to get out and see horses, the countryside and to go out to lunch once a week. However, I cannot highly recommend at this time. They are pretty disorganized. When I initially met with the marketing director, I was told that the food was delicious with many options. The service is ridiculously slow in the dining area and far from being delicious. Quality is inconsistent. Food choices are limited with lots of carbs, mostly meat options , very limited fresh green vegetables or fresh fruit. They are very short-staffed. Servers seem burned out. Trelago The Grove is trying to hire more staff. Director is very opened to suggestions and making changes. He seems like he is really trying to improve things and he is hands-on. Newly hired Activities Director is warm, enthusiastic and very helpful. Outside trips are starting to be planned but up until recently, it was very limited. In a senior living facility, I was surprised to see the kitchen has high countertops requiring barstools. I think that most of my concerns relate to being new, limited staff and as I said there is good potential to improve. I will update in a few months.
