I took my Subaru in there because it was overheating. They said it was the radiator water pump and something else they replaced all of that for a tune of about three grand then it started doing it again so they did a pressure test and found out it was the head gasket so for another five grand they replaced the head gasket but didn't do any of the other necessary things so the car constantly burned oil after that in there solution to me was to put a heavier weight oil so it didn't burn as fast. Needless to say about four months later because of all the engine oil burning and everything the engine finally seized at 88,000 miles. Very satisfied with the service. The words I think of are up-front, honest, direct, reliable, and fast. I had been scrambling to fix an engine/turbo issue on my modified Subaru WRX for two months. Between my tuner and the dealership we came to know satisfactory conclusions which cost me nearly $2,000 to no avail. I called here after a quick google search and spoke with Greg. He recommended a smoke test to check for vacuum leaks which was the next logical step so I was excited to hear him say that. I dropped my car off in the morning of our appointed day and by 12pm I received a call from Chris stating the the smoke test identified the hose leak (post-turbo) and that he was able to fix it. I have driven the car about 50 miles since then and my baby is back to it's good old street racing self! I am so grateful for Greg and Chris's help. Honest. Fair. Exceptional work. Above and beyond. I wanted to move away from the over-priced dealership that up-talked me and always acted like they knew more about cars than I do (which is true, but they don't need to know that.) When I found Quality and talked to Chris for the first time over the phone I knew that with his patience in not only answering my questions but taking the time to educate me, along with his vast knowledge of Subies, that Honey Bunny would be in good, dirty hands. He always makes time to give me as full of an explanation that I need to make the right decision and feel comfortable moving forward with repairs. Every time I take her in I know she will come back to me well taken care of, and she has. It's like her little Spa Day. And then re-explain in much more simple language when I told him I did not understand anything about the car lingo. I've had another great experience at Quality Foreign Car Service and wanted to share again how wonderful it is to have a trustworthy mechanic. Wayne was exceptionally helpful in determining my current car issue. I took my car for a simple alignment at a pretty popular tire shop on Woodward (you know, the one with the big talking tire) and they said that my rear alignment was so out of whack that I needed to head to a frame shop -- odd, considering I treat my car exceptionally well and have been in no accidents. They sent me to a frame shop in Birmingham and after looking at the car and consulting the alignment printout the tire shop gave me, the manager there said my rear axle was bent so badly that I needed it replaced immediately. He quoted me a repair cost of $600. Yikes. Fortunately, his shop was moving and couldn't take care of me until three weeks later. Enter Wayne and Quality Foreign Car Service. My husband and I dropped off my car, handed him the alignment sheet the tire shop gave me and told him what the guy at the frame shop said. After telling him explicitly that we needed to have the rear axle replaced, he said that the alignment printout looked off but we definitely didn't need to be so worked up about it. He took my car to an alignment shop he trusts (Wayne's shop doesn't do alignments -- one of the only things he doesn't do), put it up on the lift, and after looking at my beloved Vibe and hooking it up to a computer, he and his friend there determined that the tire shop and the frame shop completely overstated the severity of the situation. The rear alignment was just fine but angled in such a way that the front tires needed to be adjusted correctly. No need to replace the axle at all. I am most impressed that I walked in and told Wayne I needed a pretty expensive service -- and would probably have gone along with it if he said I did need a new axle! -- but he went in and found exactly what was wrong and fixed what needed to be fixed. At the tire shop, they hooked it up to the computer and went along with the printout's one-size-fits-all solution that would result in a budget-busting fix. Wayne's time and experience led to a solution that was less invasive and quicker and cost me nearly $500 less than what I expected to pay. Wayne is an honest mechanic that works quickly and within budget. He has earned my business when it comes to car repair for everything that comes up in the future. I used to be totally anxious about going to a mechanic, but now I feel comfortable taking my car in when I have an issue. I know that I won't be upsold, lied to, or pressured into agreeing to repairs my car doesn't need. These guys are fantastic. I strongly recommend this shop for any car service you require. read more

This place is the best and has been the best for the 15 years they've been servicing my cars. I limped in with a car that wouldn't stop, had to use the emergency brake to stop. Put it up on the hoist, ruptured brake line. The horror of it all is that I had just paid $900 for brake repairs at another local shop in a very fancy neighborhood with a fancy roster of cars in the lot. For $900, the first place did NOTHING! I can't say enough good things about the staff at Quality Foreign Car Service. In early February, in 12 degree weather, I couldn't get my 2008 Saab to start. After Googling "Saab repair shops near me" and crossing my fingers, I had my car towed to QFCS. I dropped my car off with Chris at 3:30pm, and he called me with his initial assessment by 5:30pm. They ended up having my car for a full week while trying to diagnose my car's issue, and they kept me fully updated the entire time. Chris and Wayne both took the time to fully explain to me what they were able to find, what it could mean, and the best options for fixing it. They were even kind enough to take calls from my father, who wanted to make sure his daughter was getting the right information and the best service available. When I was able to pick up my Saab a week later, Chris and Wayne had a lengthy discussion with my partner and I about what they found and they gave us wonderful advice on how to proceed. And for having my vehicle for a full week, they charged me a very reasonable rate and that I know I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. October 2011, I have a story about this place. The transmission on my 2000 Volvo S70, 110k, unexpectedly died. I bought the car from a family referred used car salesman in the Chicago area. Clearly I made a bad decision when buying the car..., I have put a lot of work into it, but it runs great and I still get about 22 mpg city. I already knew I needed a new trans and was doing a little research online about how much it was going to cost to get it replaced with a used trans with a decent warranty on it. I was seeing costs from 300 to about 800 dollars with year warranties. I went in to Quality, and off the bat Wayne was quite frankly rude and inattentive, poor customer service overall. He called me the next day with a quote at 1500 dollars for the trans alone and then another 1000 in labor. Then proceeded to tell me it was a big decision because it might not be worth the money, and that he would buy the car from me for 500 or 600 dollars. I almost threw up in my mouth. The tires I had put on 3 weeks prior were worth 500 dollars alone (600 new). After a little bit of back n forth on how much the car is actually worth (him saying, I'm not a used car salesman...yea like you don't know how much the car is worth a-hole) I literally hung up the phone, called the Volvo dealership and had a guy run some numbers for me. He got back to me later that day and said he had found a trans with only 31k, 1 year warranty, for 750 dollars and that they could have it all done for 1500 dollars total. Immediately had my car towed over after Wayne charged me 80 dollars for his complete waste of time b.s. show and they had it fixed within 2 days. It is running great and am very glad I didn't listen to Wayne, honestly how could anyone listen to that nonsense and not get irritated. May be good for some things, I don't know, but I would highly recommend NOT taking your car there. read more

I'm always a little concerned taking a vehicle in for repairs, I'm no where near an expert and always a little wary of being an uniformed customer. I took my Jetta to Quality to get an exhaust problem diagnosed and it turned out to be a catalytic converter issue, which is a very expensive fix. The technician could have simply told me I needed a new one and charged me well over $1000 dollars. However, he pointed out to me that my car was still covered by its warrenty, barely. He suggested taking it to the dealership where the part can be fixed for free. I wasn't even charge an inital fee for the diagnosis. In this economy I can only imagine other auto repair places would not have suggested me taking my business some where else. The next day I got a follow up call just to make sure the part was taken care of free of charge. I really appreicate the honesty and the follow up. I know I will always take my car there and recommend it to anyone who is asking. read more
