I just got my fourth car from Madison Honda, my salesman Kamal Bawa is awesome. The car, an Accord LX in Burgundy and Tan interior is GORGEOUS and is a GREAT RIDE! My experience of Madison Honda is, they are ALWAYS right on the money! They solve every issue instantly, they are flawless, they know their jobs and they are the best dealer I've ever dealt with. I strongly recommend them to everyone. I know I can always count on them. I took the Tires, Rims, Nicks and Scratches option with my new lease, and I normally don't do that, but I was inspired by Kamal, by Jose the Finance Manager and by David, the boss. It was very inexpensive and when added to my insurance coverage, just insures if I ever damage a rim or get a scratch, that the costs will be covered. Give Madison a shot! Review purely from a new car buying experience. Nice people but they employ pressure based sales tactics which really killed the experience for me. Also a real lack of transparency with the breakdown of the vehicle costs, not sure if this is due to lack of knowledge or just a sales tactic. I had to ask for specific pieces of information and even then, it was incomplete. I will commend them for giving me a good price but it wasn't easy and even the person that came with me started feeling the pressure and had no stake in the deal. read more

I would prefer to give no stars at all. It was my impression that Honda's were good cars with a reputation for good engineering. My experience would prove otherwise. The 2015 Honda Fit that they sold me - now 4 years old, but with only 33,000 miles on it - appears to be a lemon. And if you have it repaired by them it is a very expensive lemon to fix. I buy cars for reliability and as an "investment" - until they become unreliable and too expensive to fix. And I've had a few. Cars that I've owned in the past surpass 100,000 miles - even 200,000 miles - before they meet that criteria. My Honda Fit seems to be falling apart at 33,000 miles, and by a long shot with the most expensive repairs I've ever paid - especially if done by Madison Honda. Since I've owned the car it's been electrically quirky - after routine maintenance flashing some alert on my dashboard that ended up being a false alarm that simply needed to be reset (at least this seemed to be the case during the warranty ). After an oil change that I let them do about a month ago I asked them to *reset* an annoying icon flashing on my dashboard alerting me that there was a problem with my "keyless recognition system" - although there seemed to be no problem with the function. BTW, on the way home from this maintenance my driver side windshield wiper flipped out of its hinge - coincidence ???? I know nothing about cars but I fixed it. Glad I didn't let Madison Honda have at it - probably would have cost a few hundred for a windshield wiper fix. Turns out they found that there was a problem that needed further investigation through their *advanced diagnostics* - which revealed it to be a repair to the tune of @ $1200 - which they were willing to discount to @$1100. I have never had a bill this high from any of my cars in the past through their very long lives. Nor have I ever had a problem with ignition or electrical systems in my past cars that apparently were well engineered. I agreed to the repair but quickly regretted it. It left me feeling VERY RIPPED OFF FROM THE INITIAL SALE TO THE *REPAIR*. And then I took the car home, tried to get into it a few hours later - and guess what? Couldn't get in! The newly fixed keyless recognition system - that was operating well before their fix - did not recognize my keys! They forgot to reset the keys! They ended up "discounting" the repair by $350 - a step in the right direction, but in my view still an obscenely high bill for a 4 year old economy car. My biggest beef here is that I thought that I was buying a reliable economy car of good engineering. Not so! And especially if an economy level car is this unreliable it shouldn't be so expensive to fix. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN MADISON HONDA AND IN HONDA AS A PRODUCT. And this evening, 3 weeks later, my car won't start! So much for Honda's "Advanced Diagnostics". You can be sure that I won't be taking this repair to them. read more

I recently came into the dealership with my 2021 Honda Accord, (for the record it is still under warranty). I was having troubles with my sensors. My power steering was off, my ABS light was in, plus 6 other sensors. the guy helping me was priding himself on customer service and I thought he was going to help me. A few minutes later after he looked at my car, he told me that it needs a detailed inspection. Not only was that going to have to com out of pocket, but "there was no one at the dealership to do the inspection since it was 3:55 and they closed at 6." I asked the guy if there was any way he can disconnect my battery and see if that fixes the sensor problem, and he refused and said I will have to make time to come back next week. I ended up having to disconnect the battery myself which thankfully fixed the problem. As for "great customer service", I'm going to have to beg to differ. I won't be back to this dealership. read more

This place just charges way too much for routine service. I'll start by saying I went to Joyce Honda in Denville for 10,000 mile service on my 2015 Honda Civic several months ago and they said "when you come back for 15,000 mile service, it's a little more involved and runs about $150". Fine. Well, I figured it shouldn't be much different elsewhere, so today I made an online appointment with Madison Honda for 15,000 mile service (and they do not post the prices of their services online), and when I arrived there, they were very nice and organized but there was a customer in front of me requesting 15,000 service on his vehicle and I saw his service coordinator charge him $410, to the surprise of the customer. That was my first red flag. Then it was my turn, and my service coordinator was very nice, he set up my request in the system quickly, etc., then he said "The service will be $371". I said "Joyce Honda quoted this service as $150. How can that be?" Well, even the service coordinator admitted that he was surprised to hear such a low price in comparison, but nonetheless, he did not offer to match it or even bring the price down at all. So, I ended up cancelling the service right there, and now I'm sitting in the waiting room at Joyce Honda where they are charging me $134, even lower than originally planned, for the 15,000 mile service. I'll give Madison a couple stars for the courteousness of the staff, the ability to set online appointments, and the ease of their process. But, from now on, I'm just going back to Joyce Honda in Denville when I need service done. Only negative about Joyce is that (even though for some reason the website allows for appointments ?) when you arrive there you'll find out that all their service is performed on a first-come-first-serve basis. So, go early. Worth it, to save $200+ for the same service. Not going back to Madison. read more

I actually came to Madison Honda after weeks of searching the internet for the specific used vehicle I wanted. My sales person, Steven, was very easy going and very helpful. The pricing was excellent and negotiations were simple and clear. The purchase went through without any problems. Unfortunately, my "new to me" vehicle needed MAJOR engine work 28 days in....and this is where the "rubber meets the road." I'm old and handicapped, my mother who travels with me is older still and handicapped and we have a dog. The air conditioner hasn't been working well since it's gotten hot outside and takes forever to cool the car. I called for an appointment today to check/service the a/c. I was told I couldn't wait for the car and they couldn't drop me off at home like they usually do. I have no one to call who can pick me up/drop me off. So now 2 handicapped heart patients and a dog are driving around in a hot car. Not accommodating in the least. I bought the car here, service the car here regularly, not happy here today. read more

Unreal! I make an appt for 730 am on Saturday for major service and to get loaner. I get there at 725 and there is 20 car line backed up on main street . So I call service and asks where I drop my car off for appt and they tell me I have to wait in the line for with all the drive thru u u scheduled appts. I waited for 20 minutes and there was still ten cars in front of me so I called and told them to cancel . So I called ltr to ask when I can bring my car in for service (major mind you) where I don't have to wait an hour just to drop my car off and was told they can't tell me that. So they have lost myself and my nine family members as customers in their service department where we have been going for year as well as we will never buy a car there again. It should not take 45 minutes to drop a car off for a scheduled 500 service , end of story read more

We are DONE with Madison Honda. They are a typical car dealer. You will "wheel and deal" with your sales person going back and forth to the "manager" etc. The staff in general is polite, so I guess I'll give them points for that. As far as service; I've experienced much better. I'm going on a "three strikes and you're out" policy here and the 3rd strike is what prompted this review. We had the engine light go on multiple times and they blamed it on bad gas. Then when it went again for a 4th time after a gas tank flushing and new tank of gas they figured it out it was something to do with the tank where the filler neck is. When we got our car back we googled the problem and it came right up as a common issue. We had our SUV detailed there and the back of the inside was still dirty! We actually brought it to the attention of the manager, who after running his fingers along the ledges and having lots of dust on them, agreed and gave us half off the detail. We had a leak in our car which they say this isn't covered by the warranty. They insinuated we left the windows open (we did not) because they couldn't duplicate it with a hose, and will cost $1500.00 to diagnose. We googled the problem, and immediately found a common problem of a drain being clogged behind a mudflap. We took the mudflap off and fixed it ourselves in 20 minutes. I don't believe for a minute the dealer didn't know about this issue, but they would've been happy to take our $1500 to "diagnose" the leak. Update... Adding a 4th strike. Our car recently started making a noise, and turns out the alternator was on it's way out which became an urgent repair; It was under warranty so we went to Madison and it was repaired as such. They did not replace anything else nor did they mention anything to us. When we got the car back it was still making a noise so we brought the car back. They then tell us it's a noisy serpentine belt that needs to be replaced. If the belt was bad, and this belt goes around the alternator, why weren't we told of the need for replacement while the alternator was removed? So now we are supposed to pay for labor for them to remove what was just done to put a new serpentine belt on. Add to this that our car is due for a timing belt as routine maintenance. It's not overdue for this service, we are less than 100k miles on the car so we are well within the normal range for this service. A mechanic friend told us the noise that we hear is the timing belt tensioner, not any belt itself. The tensioner is under warranty per HondaCare, but Madison Honda is insisting on a $900+ job as part of the timing belt. We are able to have the same repairs for $400 at a different Honda dealer who rightfully covered the belt tensioner under warranty. Our neighbor went to Madison Honda because a power window stopped working. Madison Honda wanted $1000 for a repair. They went to a local garage and the mechanic fixed the window with a sensor, did an oil change, replaced a headlight, and rotated the tires- all for $300. All proof to me that Madison Honda is all about pulling in as much money as they possibly can from unsuspecting service customers. We used to get a loaner car with any warranty repairs that we needed done, but no more. Now we had to pay $100 to join some "club" to get a loaner with any service, warranty or not. The only problem is when you need service on your car, unless you can schedule it a week in advance there is never a loaner available... Not all service is scheduled and planned, so unless you can plan when your car may need to go in you won't get that loaner. Feeling ripped off by that one. Most dealers have polite employees, clean service areas, along with coffee and TV. There is nothing special at this dealer that makes me want to give them any stars. I've had better service at Planet Honda and especially Hillside Honda which has been great, just wish they were closer. And that's it. read more

After a while on hold, was assured they could do that price and to come on down. Arrived at the dealership and now told they can't possibly do that price and wanted $800 more. One: The repair department was not helpful and expensive compared to what I have found at other garages. It was not worth the long wait I had to endure. I have also found that when you need brake work, the rodors always need to be replaced!! Are we pushing for sales??? I still drive with the ones I should have replaced but my local garage does not think so. Two: On another occasion, regarding the air bag recall, some screws were left on the driver's matt? Are they not needed any longer? Three: I have four hondas, I guess we do like Honda! I have found that it is easier to buy at Planet Honda even if it is on route 22. I took my car in for a recall plus the 100k maintenance. I knew my rear brakes needed to be replaced and the rotors looked fine when I inspected them. When I spoke with one of the service people, he even said the rotor looked good on the outside. My problem comes when I leave, I get a call 30 minutes later to have my rotors replaced for an additional $300 (parts are only 30 each). I smell some BS. I knew I was getting bent over with the brake job for $250 to begin with. Since I was not there to see what they were talking about, I declined the rotor replacement. My brakes are opperating smoothly without the replacement rotors and is an easy DIY job anyway. read more

I went to check out a used car to purchase twice. We expressed interest and left Saturday at closing with some questions and were told we would hear back from them on Monday morning. They did not mention that we should leave a deposit. Someone came in Monday morning and bought the car. No one called us or told us it was sold until we called back later Monday morning. Brian was salesman and Hector the manager. I'm extremely disappointed. I have 3 kids and had babysitters come to watch them when we test drove the car. Now I have to start all over again. read more

I would like to tell you about my experience at Madison Honda. I had to leave this review long time ago. I purchased 2010 Honda Civic EX the car from this dealership in December 2012. That was pre owned CERTIFIED vehicle. When I saw and drove the car, which had just been returned from lease (probably the same day) I noticed that there was TPMS light on and the brakes were not so good. Besides that the plastic cover on the left hand side of driver sit was coming off. Salesman Mark explained me that this car did not passed certification process yet that they will do it in next 1-2 days. He told me that the car will pass 150 point inspection and everything will be tested and will be working. I was very happy with that what I've heard. I came to pick the car up in 2 days. Car looked great. They replaced only 1 tire, changed front and rear brakes. Everything was shiny. Inside and outside look was great. It was really hardly see some issues with a car. When Mark was starting the engine, it took him about 5-7 seconds to start. It happens. It also was my newest car I've ever had. I was really happy with that. After I drove about 10 miles the TPMS came back on. I called them next day and they told me to stop by and they will take a look at it on spot. When I came in they told me that I have to make an appointment for that type of issue. I took a day off at work on Saturday to get that issue fixed. They did it in 1,5 hours. There was no charge for it (warranty repair). Car was and is really starting bad. In winter it took me 8-10 seconds to start the engine, sometimes I even had to press gas pedal to start the car! It's like the car of 1990's. I called them ask about it and they told me that it's normal. Month later I got my oil changed and they did 15 point inspection. I drive 100 miles a day from Stamford CT to Ridgewood NJ (45 out of 50 miles are highways, usually with no traffic). My brakes were inspected as 7mm left (%70). I was really surprised. It was only 5000 miles and 30% gone. Really? Nevermind. After 2nd oil change brakes were down to 50%-60%. And the tires treat was very low. When I passed about 11000 miles I noticed the sound on the right side. The struts were damaged. They replaced left and right front struts. They also did 15 point inspection which showed that brakes were almost done 40%. BUT TIRES TREAT WHEN UP!!! How could it happen??? I ask to check my starter and they told me that it's all okay and there in no problem at all. Now is summer. The car starts really bad!!! When I got a car for about 6 month I noticed that there was corrosion on the left back rear side, near the wheel. I called them and told them about it. They asked me to bring it in. I even signed extra membership with them. Next day I got call from Brian, the boss of service department and he told me that I hit the vehicle. I live at residence in Stamford CT and drive to Ridgewood NJ and I have private parking at both places. After 15 minutes on the phone explaining him how I care about my car and NO ONE could even touch the car with their finger, he agreed to CLEAN corrosion, not to replace the body part. Right of the beginning he told me that I have to pay for that. All he cares is money. Looks like he doesn't want to honor their job and warranty. They cleaned corrosion and I pick up a car. It looks between decent and good. I have to live with that, there's nothing I can do about it. They also recommended to rotate the tires. After they did it my car was extremely pulling to the right. I called them and they told me that they will but it back next day. When I came back in they did not even had a record that they did a rotation and lady who served me gave me not really nice answer. That was not rude but with attitude. It sounded like get out from here, but in different words. They switched the tires back and told me that I need an alignment done. After all that I decided to switch the dealership. I went to Honda of Tenafly. I spoke to Robert. He explained me every detail what could happen with tires. So I left the car for balance, rotation, and alignment to be done. After they did that he called me and told me that the car is still pulling to the side. He explained that tires treat was not balanced at the beginning, because I at certification process I had replaced only 1 TIRE. There was dis balance on the left and right sides. To fix this issue I had to put 3 new tires. Also the number of treat of new tire I had replaced during certification was higher that Madison Honda checked. I asked them to check it one more time in front of me. They checked and it had 7/32 left. They also checked my brakes treat in front of me. And treat what was left was 70% and higher!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT 40% as Madison Honda checked. After all those things were done my car is driving straight. I called Honda support line and filed a complain against Madison Honda. Do not buy anything from this dealership. read more

I recently went to Madison Honda to purchase a new car using a true car price that they had agreed to. I had been in contact with them and the price was agreed upon already. The only variable was my trade in. it didn't go very well... they wanted to add packages to that price that I wasn't interested in and they also wanted to give me next to nothing for my trade in so we collectively decided that a deal was not going to be made and we left. They didn't seem interested in pursuing and that is the second time in a 10 year period that I've left there and then gone to Joyce Honda and bought a car there for exactly what I wanted so I'm not a fan. Went to Madison Honda today and was told that the car we had put a $500 deposit down on has been sold to another customer! They never even called us and told us or apologized! David Streisant, the sales manager on duty at the time, was unable to offer any sort of explanation or remedy for this situation. He asked us to put a new $500 deposit down for a car that they might get from the factory in 8-12 weeks...as if they could possibly be trusted. With their price in hand I was able to quickly find a better price and buy a car with no hassles, hangups or surprises from one of their competitors. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these disorganized, untrustworthy, unprofessional, unethical people. My car is only 31/2 years old I was also told over the phone that since i am a VIP customer that it would take 45 minutes to diagnose the problem. Then they would know if i need a loaner car. This past Saturday we unfortunately fell victim for the old bait and switch ultimately WAISTING OUR TIME. We called and spoke with Petra regarding a used vehicle that was seen on their website. My husband relayed to her that we lived an hour away and did not want to waste anyone's time if there was no room for movement on their pricing. Petra and my husband spoke about the vehicle and took all our information and assured him there was room to move and it would not be a waste of anyone's time to ask for her when we arrived. Upon arrival we learned Petra is not a sales person, certainly misrepresented by Petra. We were told Petra provides information to the caller and then is supposed to relay info back to the salesmen. Not in our case as the salesman selected had to scramble in front of us to learn from Petra why we where there and what vehicle we are interested in. Putting that aside, the gentlemen was a nice guy, and assisted us with looking and test driving the car. We of course told him of our initial experience with Petra and in calling the dealer and also provided a number as to where we would like to be with making an offer to purchase the car. In taking our number he then went to the manager, customary to making a deal. He then returns to tell us, and I quote... "I can make this short, we think we may have a buyer already and it is for the full internet asking price, so it looks like the car may be sold at that price" He then just stood there.... WHAT- ARE YOU KIDDING ME-you MAY already have a buyer, so it LOOKS LIKE the car MAY be sold??? We shook his hand and said thank you very much - out the door we went. We even called back to ask for Petra, who conveniently stepped out, then asked to speak with a manager, instead we just stated to the receptionist what just had happened - who in turn gave the line... "I'm sorry, do you want to leave a message? " YES here is the message...STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER- SHADY SALES PRACTICES! Two hours later we purchased an identical vehicle from a more reputable dealer AND to top it off...we get to now laugh as the vehicle that we were interested in is still available and on their website!!! The service from Madison honda has gone bad, we had to break a promise and not go there anymore. Having read the recent reviews, I agree, the young techs they hire are not responsible, they don't care about the cars. I trusted them so much, i never checked anything after bringing my car there. Found out years later, the cap on my my washer fluid container was cracked, barely able to do its purpose and nobody said anything, the locks on my spare tire in the back were missing at least 2. when they did the recall on the airbags underneath the steering wheel, they messed up the lid it didn't shut properly anymore. I sold my car, and brought my husband's civic to another dealership for maintenance, gave Madison Honda a chance, but they can't seem to control the irresponsible young techs and the advisors don't take the time to inspect the techs work at all. read more

Just bought my first car here today. Lived in the city forever and a new job required that I get a car. After much heartache and hassle around NJ trying to find the right car I ended up in Madison. Well worth the hour drive from my home. Joe helped me find the perfect car and was extremely patient. He was super knowledgeable and not pushy at all. I recently took my Honda here for a simple oil change. I was overdue for an oil change and typically take my car down to Autosport Honda in Bridgewater, but they are very tough to schedule an appointment with and you have to be prepared to wait for a long time. Not exactly how I like spending my weekends. I figured I'd give Madison Honda a shot. They're located right on Main St in Madison and I always seem to forget that a Honda dealership is here. It's not exactly a hotbed for car dealerships. But, I'm glad I remembered they're here. I took my car in during the week and you kind of drive behind and underneath to the service center. You also pull into their service area -- something I am not used to. Then, a service advisor comes out and asks you what you would like done with your car. My guy was great and he even proactively applied an online coupon to my oil change which was appreciated. He quoted me 45 minutes. From there, you get out and can head upstairs to the waiting room. Instead of waiting the entire time in the waiting room, I walked over to the strip mall next door to grab some lunch. As an FYI, there's plenty of places in the strip mall next door to grab some food. There's also a bowling alley. It's an easy way to pass some time. After lunch, I came back and started the waiting room wait. Then, almost 45 minutes on the nose, my service advisor came up to grab me. I was shocked and delighted. I feel like these places never do a good job quoting you how long something will be. This Honda dealership either made a really good guess or is actually good at it. I'm hoping it's the latter. I did pay a few bucks more than I'm used to paying at Autosport but this place was way more efficient and did an oil change much more quickly than Autosport does. I'll gladly pay a few extra bucks for some of my time back. I way be switching to this place moving forward for service. read more

First time customer and appreciated my initial phone conversation with Jackie, who was able to squeeze me in for a recall service appointment. With thorough directions/landmarks, Madison Honda was not difficult to find on Main Street. Upon arrival, I met with Denise who took down pertinent information & given that it is a holiday weekend, she gave me options of the types of services that can be completed today and when to return during the week to complete a job. Their waiting area has free Wi-Fi, water, coffee, tea, snacks & television. Kid friendly too. They gained a happy first time customer. I wish I could give them zero stars. Absolute worst experience in my life trying to buy a car. Agreed to a price Friday and a pick up date of Monday. Made us come two days sooner due to their error. Then set a time to come with four kids in the car and they made us wait two hours (eventually I just took the kids home and hubby waited). Then after two hours and incredibly rude finance person complained about wanting to go home. Yeah lady tell us about it. Finally we go to sign the final paperwork and they added an extra $4,000 to what we discussed. The sales manager the day before gave us a price and said to our faces it includes tax title "everything". We agreed to a PRICE and a finance rate which then generated a monthly payment. Then we show up and they tack it all on (all $4,000) and act like they never said that. If you decide to go after this review please make copies of everything during negotiations and get whatever they say on video. Please don't be fooled by them saying we want your business and we will take care of you. They lied and treated us terribly. My husband had to take a cab home for $65. We are both professionals with advanced degrees including one in finance. They must not have counted on that. There are plenty of other dealerships who deserve business. I was recently shopping for cars and decided to look into a 2014 Honda Civic. When I arrived, there were no sales associates in sight. I had to wait 15 minutes before I walked up to someone and asked if anyone could answer some questions about the car. The man reluctantly responded with "I guess I can help you..." Really?? Off to a bad start, I asked him some questions about the car and pricing. He had little knowledge about the car (maybe he wasn't actually a sales rep?) and their starting price for a 3 year lease was terrible! It was actually a full $29 higher per month than another dealer I went to later on. After realizing I wasn't going to get anywhere with Madison Honda that day, I left and I currently don't plan on ever going back there. I advise you to do the same.... read more

They will steal your money! Be careful!! Left a deposit on a car, but later fund a better deal and now they will not refund me my deposit. read more
