Awesome local watering hole with good food!…read more Brought the grandparents and kids out for some time near the lake. We decided to eat next to the Madison Township park before walking around. Plenty of parking along the park. Inside first you see the bar, then a large open area with plenty of tables and chairs. It was great because the grownups could sit and the kids could prance around the dance floor without bothering anyone. They also had an awesome Godzilla pinball machine in the corner that we enjoyed while waiting for our food. At our table we tried the smash burgers, pizza, steak salads, onion rings, fried mushrooms, fries, mozzarella sticks. Everything was good, served hot, and satisfying. Draft beer was cold and served in glass pint glasses. Lemonade for the kids was in cute plastic cups with lids and straws. The mozzarella sticks were huge, more like bars than sticks. The pizza crust is brushed with garlic butter, which tastes fantastic, and there were plenty of napkins provided to wipe our hands. Bathrooms were nice and clean. It was a perfect choice for us before heading to the playground. The bartender served us at our table. Service was fantastic. I only saw her serving all the customers at the bar and tables. I don't know how she did it. She was always checking on us and there when we needed something and kept our glasses full. Next time we are in Madison we will definitely be back.

We also tried the shrimp burger which my wife enjoyed. This pub has weekly events and the event we went to was mechanical bull night. The service was decent with the bartenders checking in on us regularly. I would definitely come back to Wagon wheel for a night of cheap drinks and food.

And the local wine Recommeneded by our server after we told her what kind of wine my husband usually likes, franc? , was so good. The servers were very kind and efficient even during busy dinner time. We enjoyed this spacing and clean dining room. Thank you for the great experience. The cooks even said "thank you" to us from the kitchen as we walked out. We ate at several places in GOTL: this was the best one.

Our lunch for two, mine a salad and a sausage/ pepper dish, bf's a French onion soup and a side salad, was over $77, over $100 after tip. What shocks me more is my two cups of coffee was charged twice, at $4 each. I only drink one cup of coffee a day. So I always tell a waitress, after one cup regular, just give me decaf afterwards. When I said the same to the waitress here, she told me she will make a pot of decaf for me. However, that night, not only I didn't have a shred of sleepiness, I was fully energized-- stayed up til 7am, ended up finishing a 6-hour coursework. It makes me wonder if my second cup was really decaf. I don't know. In any case, I thought no refill for coffee was outrageous.

There were some people at 6:00p not slammed but enough people. So it seemed encouraging. Lots of TV's and booths plus tables. Better inside than outside. There were 3 of us and we all got different things. I got the Greek chicken wrap with chips. The wrap was ok. Kinda dry. Didn't taste the dill spread really. The chips were good. They are like fair chips that come in a twist. Really thin and crispy. Another person got the steak wrap with salad. The salad dressing was a bit vinegary. The wrap was ok too. Next person got the margarita flat bread and wings. Wings weren't good I am told. Not big and sauce was not even coating the wing. The flatbread had a balsamic glaze and that made the flatbread very soggy. So she was not impressed at all. Service was ok. Prices were ok too. Lots of people so they might have something else good we did not get. Parking lot was rocks but plenty of parking. Probably not a return. Not sure we got the best experience. Food was mediocre at best.

After we were seated (shade thank you), Our server Maxim, brought two glasses of ice water and a bowl of water for our guests baby. So nice that we didn't even ask! We sat in the back with a very nice view of the lake. We opted to share the arancini cheese balls and a pretzel burger. Perhaps it was the heat, but I didn't snap a photo of the burger and only remembered to snap a photo of the wine and arancini cheese balls. Nothing fancy, plastic cups and paper baskets. The arancini were in a glass bowl. The arancini were tasty. The sauce was good. Presented nicely with a sprinkle of Parmesan. The pretzel burger was ok. I had 1/3 of it and it was enough. I'm not a fan of pretzel buns. My husband really liked it. The French fries were really good with malt vinegar. We both had a glass of the lake side Riesling. It was nicely chilled. A tad on the sweet side. Good wine for a hot day. We enjoyed the slight breeze and there was a musician there at 6 pm. (Tom Todd). He is there every Monday and sometimes the weekend. He said they have different music every day of the week! The friendly service, atmosphere and music warranted easily 4.5 stars. The food while fine was 3 stars. People already eating and drinking. Deceivingly large. Walk in and bar is to your right. To the left are tables and such. We went to the bar. The bar had a good amount of people. We ended up close to the windows on the other side. It was fine. Bartender came right over. They have a good selection of alcohol. Flavored vodka's. I got salted Carmel with coke. Delish! Kathy got cucumber vodka and sprite. Very refreshing. We got menus and asked bartender to recommend some items. He said wings good, burgers good, chicken and waffles and Mac and cheese. Funny we didn't get any of those. Kathy got the brisket dinner. I got the rueben with a salad. Both good. And prices were good too. They came out in about 10 mins. Salad was good. The Rueben was hot . I ate half. Good amount of corned beef not too skimpy. Kathy's. Brisket looked amazing. And it was good. Brisket tender with side of baked potato and broccoli. BBQ sauce on the side. And a loaf of bread. All for $12.99. She ate half and took home too. It was good and filling. Bartender was nice and informative. Place had a good mix of people. Looks like a nice hang out. Prices were good. Drinks good. Can't complain. I'd definitely go back and try something else.
