Oh my goodness this is a find! It is off the beaten track where most tourists go, which is good because the restaurant is small and very modest. But the food is simply outstanding. We went here for a late breakfast. We started with fresh orange juice which was delicious. The kid had mayan lemonade and loved it. The wife had fresh fruit with yogurt and granola and loved the freshness of the fruit. The kid had sweet crepes and did not eat them all but that is normal. I had the "house special" which is chicken sandwich. Oh my, it was probably the best chicken sandwich in my life. The chicken was not only tender but marinated so it was flavorful. It had cilantro, avocado, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Plus chipotle mayo. Everything tasted so fresh, bursting with flavor. It was phenomenal. Service was friendly. Prices are not just reasonable but downright cheap. If we lived here, we would eat here all the time. Food is great. They have some vegan options. It is kind of two restaurants in one. I had one of the pita pizzas. The flavors were amazing. I had the seared tuna another night. Super yummy. I prefer a child smoothie. I ordered two over two days one was child and one was not. A lot of thirty-/twenty- something nomads are patrons. It was a little hard to find a regular table. Cute little Cafe on Ave. 30! At first it seems as if it's many tiny cafes inside however they have the spaces separated and you can choose where to sit. It sounds confusing but ones you get in it's very nice and you can bring your dog here! Compared to other places next to Avenida 30 items on the menu are a about 10-15mxn more and portion sizes were a bit smaller. However it is a cafe and it's still cheaper than many options closer to 5th Ave. To drink I went with the Naranjada Roja, it's orange and grapefruit juice with grenadine. It's sweet, fresh, tarty and perfect on a hot day. It was also a nice change from the aguas frescas. The 16oz. Cup was about $38MXN. My food took a while to arrive which was surprising since it was an guacamole tapa. It's basically a slice of toasted white bread, with mashed avocado, chopped arugula, pepitas, and cranberries. While it was a delightful change to the food we'd been eating. This costed about $65MXN around $3-4usd. While I'd recommend it as a snack on your walk to some other food I wouldn't consider it a meal. Overall the cafe has charm, the service was amazing and the food did its trick. We came to this street planning to go to Cafe Orange. When we saw their signs for açaí bowls, it looked like a good compromise for our group. We crossed over, checked the menu and decided to stay. Boy am I glad we did! The cafe is cute, a compilation of small seating areas. The open concept doesn't provide for AC, but their refreshing drinks and fans help to compensate. I got the dejauner sandwich on a bagel. It was delicious! My companion took a bite and now wants one for themselves! I've only been here for brunch, but you had better believe that I'll be back to try their dinner menu. I got one of their combos, which for $109MX got me a coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, a pastry, a cup of fresh cut fruit and an order of poached eggs with bacon and hashbrowns drowning Hollandaise sauce. Talk about great value! The food was good (ask for the spicy red salsa!) & the price was most definitely right; this is a great place to spend a lazy morning. If you are talking about the quality of their food and beverages, it's the best! Everything is carefully made, fresh, and natural as they claim. The servers are loving and caring people. Eating there is like coming home to your family! My only suggestion to them though is that the service be a little faster. As much as I would like to eat there every day, I avoid going there when I am in a time limit. My last visit, it took an hour to get a delicious fruit drink to go. I know they don't want to rush their clients either, cause many are camped out with their computers and there for the duration, but others like myself are still in the mindset of the states, and they need to step on it! Me and my husband found this cute little hidden gem while wandering around off the beaten path in Playa Del Carmen. It was hot outside and we didn't even want coffee but the aroma stopped us in our tracks! Good call because the coffee was amazing! Ok well if your in playa you must try this spot! We stayed right off of fifth avenue in playa so there were many restaurant options but they were more pricey on fifth avenue. This place was just a corner off of fifth and it was a cute hole in the wall place. We had dinner here but it was primarily brunch food on the menu. I had a croissant sandwich which was super fluffy and delicious. The prices here are less than half of those of restaurants on fifth. My tab with beverage came out to 103 pesos, 5 dollars and change. I ate here today with friends for brunch and order the breakfast special for $109MXN. it included a fruit bowl, a chocolate pastry, a main, coffee and fresh squeezed juice! I ordered the melba for my main which was delectable - poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on top of hash browns and sprinkled with bits of bacon. I was super impressed with the service (friendly, helpful, fast) and the food was delicious and great value! I also loved the open air dining experience. The venue is also a full on mercado with other food offerings and a cute local, artisan store in the back. Highly recommend Bajo! read more
