Westcott Bay Shellfish Co. Steamed Clams

Mmm I only got the clams and a drink here but the clams were really good!! I got it without sausage, and it was still pretty filling. Bigger clams than I'm used to but still meaty. Fluffy duck was a little too sweet for my taste but still good. Beautiful views!

I stopped in for a beer and lite dinner. I ordered the Caesar salad without any proteins. It was definitely a great looking salad! However, overdressed to the point of being almost inedible.

First visit to Roche Harbor - won't be the last!! Reminiscent of the summer camp in Dirty Dancing! We ate on the patio and watched the sunset, watched as the flags were lowered, and listened to the announcements for the next days activities. Our server for the evening was amazing and did a great job of making us feel welcome as well as making our visit memorable. The food was delicious as were the cocktails - the fluffy duck is a must try!! The quaint village and marina were a pleasure to discover and we'd love to come back and stay longer.

This restaurant just reopened in May, so a few days ago, and it felt quite short of expectations compared to what I would've expected to get from prior photos taken a year ago, featuring large portions at much cheaper prices (I get inflation but the differential is significant). The unpredictability of early May weather meant that we did not partake in outside seating as it just thunderstormed a boat load of rain so we did not want to take chances sitting outside despite the weather clearing up. We went around 4:30pm on a Saturday and it was already pretty busy. We got one of the last 2 tables remaining inside, while a server gradually dried and cleaned up the outdoor space, which started to fill up by 5:30pm. Expect a wait if you go in the peak summer months, first come first served. We still briefly went outside to soak in the views of Roche Harbor, and definitely recommend outside seating when the weather is for sure clear and nice. We got the crispy calamari, rockfish fish and chips, crab mac and cheese, and sticky Asian five spice baby back pork ribs. Dishes were around $20-40, and the portions are much tinier than expected. The crispy calamari wasn't crispy at all - it was soaked in sauce and left out for a while. I expected something like Korean fried chicken where it is still crispy while tossed in sauce, so the naming did not match expectations. The rockfish fish and chips featured 2 fairly small pieces of fish with a disappointing amount of fries and cole slaw. It insultingly felt like they purposefully skimp on food. I would've been slightly happier if they gave more fries or something more. And the fish and chips were almost $30. Crab mac and cheese had decent amount of crab but again, very small portions. The baby back pork ribs were decent but 6 small pieces for $27 is definitely grossly overpriced. With a stingy amount of fries and cole slaw. We also tried the pig martini that tasted fairly familiar, nothing stood out, but it was nice that we got the request of putting 2 little piggies on the glass. It was not aesthetic beyond that, so I would not get cocktails here. $18 for something fairly average does not score well for me. Service is decent. For such a price point and the reputation it has built up, I expected a lot more, not leaving hungry and leaving a huge dent in the wallet. Additionally, this is the only restaurant we went in the island that I see a 3% service charge on top, as if the original menu price weren't overpriced enough. I probably won't return, as I got better value, quality, and quantity elsewhere throughout the weekend.

Service here has always been excellent and friendly! The restaurant has great outdoor seating and views of the harbor making it the perfect spot for a sunny lunch! The food is fresh and delicious while the cocktails are also amazing! I will continue to visit whenever I am in town.

Great view of the marina and a great patio. Very attentive service and food that is good. I had the noodle salad with three types of protein.

Beautiful view. Service took some time but we had a big group. Tried paying and the waitress wouldn't take my card and let the groom pay. Was a bit disappointed with that. But he beat me to it. The food portions were a bit small Forturn dish.

This restaurant is in a beautiful location in Roche harbor. Our server, Della was very friendly and attentive. French dip and rock fish taco were delicious.

I did like the grilled oysters a bit more than the raw ones, my favorite out of the three was the Chipotle bourbon, it was sweet and tangy and the flavor meshed well with the grilled oyster. The main problem with this place is it's quite expensive, ~$2.5/raw oyster, $4.5/grilled oyster, and $1.5/clam for the clam bowl. The ambiance was great, the views of the water were nice. Service was also fine, if you get the DIY shuck oysters they give you a demo which is great. 4.6/5

When you arrive there is a free parking lot out front. I'd definitely recommend placing a reservation before you arrive as it can get busy. The atmosphere is a laidback, on a farm, and hidden. When we arrived we checked in with the host and then were seated along the water. To start we ordered the seasonal panzanella salad which was an excellent to start the meal. Next we ordered several grilled oysters including the Herb Lemon Garlic, Lime Cilantro Sriracha, and Chipotle Bourbon. The Herb Lemon Garlic flavor was by far my favorite given the nice balance of flavors. If you are on San Juan Island you definitely need to check out this shell shack.

Our party of three visited for lunch at noon on a Thursday. Since we had a reservation, we were seated immediately at a lovely table right by the window. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were incredibly courteous and friendly throughout our meal. We initially thought about starting with some small plates, but we were so eager for seafood that we jumped straight into the entrees. We weren't disappointed: Bouillabaisse: This was our first time trying this dish, and it was the highlight for us. It was incredibly flavorful--exactly what we were craving. Spicy Prawn Mac and Cheese: It definitely lived up to its name! It wasn't "blow-your-head-off" hot, but it had a perfect, noticeable kick that really elevated the dish. Blackened Cod Tacos: These were fantastic. The cod was perfectly prepared and worked so well with the rest of the taco ingredients. We also enjoyed a couple of non-alcoholic drinks that hit the spot, though I'll admit that since I'm writing this a couple of weeks later, I forgot to snag photos or the specific names of the drinks! They also have a really nice patio area if you prefer dining outdoors. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a great meal with a view, this place is a must-visit!

For the nature of the restaurant, we had hoped for our waitress to be more friendly and genuine. However, it felt like they just wanted to fulfill our order and be done. I ordered the South Sound Clams and Snapper Sandwich. Bathing in an umami-packed and rich Thai curry broth, the clams were tender and fresh with a bit of brine. Very good and shareable with one other person. The snapper sandwich wowed me! The bright escovitch and creamy avocado paired wonderfully with the snapper. Every bite was delightful. The house-made potato chips, however, were disappointing. They were thin, not crispy, and sticking to my teeth. If you can, substitute for fries or salad. Despite our subpar service, the delicious, well-priced food and beautiful scenery still make this the perfect date spot.

We had a large party for my birthday and the server did a great job of making sure we had everything we could need, including a constant supply of libations. We loved our server, he was awesome and helped make our night. Lots of gf designations on the menu made it easy for me to order, and I was super excited to get to have the crab bisque! It was delicious and I could have just had another helping of that and been satisfied. We also had the crab artichoke dip, which was very good, and shared a filet that was perfectly prepared. The drinks were super cute too, I now have quite the collection of piggies. The only let down was the dessert, we ordered the creme brulee, but it was not bruleed.. just creme. Wasn't very pleasant to eat. Other than that, it was a perfect meal.

A solid performance from the fine dining venue at Roche Harbor Resort…read more THE ROSES: Probably the best thing about McMillin's is the service. From the hostess to the servers, McM's works very hard to ensure customer satisfaction. The staff is professional and gracious. The cuisine rises to its price point. Particularly noteworthy is their expertise at preparing seafood (which is a good thing because the Pacific Northwest is renowned for its seafood). Between my wife and I, our dinner had crab, oysters, scallops, prawns, salmon, and sablefish. All were prepared perfectly - nothing over- or under-cooked (of course the oysters, which were from the bay next door, which were raw and perfectly shucked. We mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, and our thoughtful server passed word of this to the people doing the nightly 'retirement of the colors' ceremony, where the MC mentioned it. That was a real treat. THE THORNS: It's partly because the resort caters to an upscale yachting crowd (which can be a bit boisterous after a few drinks), but the dining room can be a bit loud, particularly if you're seated in the back where the ceiling is lower. Try to avoid a table in this area. Another rather weird hiccup was they forgot to include the salmon that was supposed to be part of my seafood pasta entree. There were plenty of scallops and prawns and some crab, so I honestly didn't mind, because I'm actually indifferent to salmon. I did mention this to the server, and she brought out a small plate of perfectly prepared salmon in sauce. I was actually rather full by then, but the salmon did make for a perfect omelette filling the next day! THE VERDICT: The dinner was not cheap, but very good value for money. As resort area restaurants go, McMillin's Dining Room is actually better than one would normally expect. I heartily recommend this restaurant.
