Infamous cigar bar masquerading as a restaurant…read more I was back in NYC for business and my buddies wanted to meet here to reconnect and enjoy stogies n drinks. Rev Al Sharpton holding court in the intimate seating area by the front window. I breezed by his bodyguard to shake his hand and trade brief small talk. My party of 5 got seated in the far back corner table. Ordered several rounds of drinks, as I gifted my buddies some Cuban cigars. It was a busy weeknight and the place was packed. Service was not great and waitress was very cavalier as we racked a nice tab. We also ordered dinner. I went against my instincts and ordered the tuna steak which was fabulous. Here's the kicker I asked for the bill and there was an "expected per person cigar charge" because we had our own ...not an issue. I paid the bill and told the waitress to give each of my buddies a cigar equivalent to their per person minimum..........would you believe I got big time attitude and resistance. I told her to get me the menu, and I read her their policy verbatim that states minimum per person cigar purchase. I paid the fee and am entitled to x number of cigars. She whirled away, came back and tossed the cigars on the table.
