These very popular folks are the oldest independently owned restaurant in Sebring and have been around since 1989! They must be doing something right. Hurricane Irma dealt them a heavy blow and their legions of loyal customers were seriously worried, but they bounced back and are as awesome as ever! Arriving- Easy peasy to find with no tricks or challenges. The parking is adequate, and I've never had a problem. Ambience- It's a deli folks! Huge blackboards show you the extensive menu. I gave you a pic of just one of several panels. Tables, a covered patio, and a counter that seats about 40 folks all together. Note that the counter has a couple of power outlets for a quick phone charge. Nice! Pro Tip- They have their own Wi-Fi, but I didn't bother asking for the password as I connected to the nearby Xfinity Hot Spot. Customer Service- You order and pay at the counter. The drinks are serve-yourself. If you are eating in, someone will drop off your food at your table but there really isn't table service. All the folks that have touched me over several visits have been just fine. Food- I'm addicted to the Rachel! It's like a pastrami Reuben but with Cole slaw instead of sauerkraut. I guess sauerkraut was a little too strong for Rachel! I added fries and a small fountain drink, and the pre-tip tab was about $16. I've had this exact lunch several times and it always blows me away. Savory pastrami and crisp, fresh Cole slaw on toasted rye makes an excellent sandwich. The piping hot fries were well cooked. I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was so bad I had to say something. From the moment I walked in, I was treated like I didn't belong the woman who took my order was rude and dismissive, and the way she spoke to me compared to other customers was completely different. My family has been in South Florida for generations, so to be treated like I'm some outsider was insulting. As for the food? Absolutely terrible. The chicken was dry, salty, and clearly frozen definitely not fresh. For the prices they charge, you'd expect way better quality. Meanwhile, the family seated next to us was treated like royalty: their food was brought out to them, they were asked if they needed anything else, while we were shouted at across the deli like farm animals. And to top it all off there was mold in the ice machine. That alone is enough reason to never go back. This place was a total disappointment, and I'll never eat here again. read more

Absolute worst service in Sebring. I've never felt like I wasn't welcomed to eat in a place other than this. The counter girl was rude and condescending in a manner that made me feel like I was an "out of towner" when I'm from the area. Now onto the food, our order was called out instead of walked out to us and even when a different woman yelled our order out, she made it sound like "come get your slop!" But meanwhile as we were finishing up eating, the same woman was nice to another couple that walked in after us and even hand delivered that tables food instead of yelling it out to them. The food itself was extremely salty and drenched in grease, chicken was frozen then fried, counter girl apparently doesn't know what goes in their salads, NOTHING comes with a side their all plus charges; like I get it I'm eating fried food but at least drain the grease off before serving. The only plus is the place seems "clean" for a deli but what southern deli is out of chicken gizzards?? Ate here once and won't be back. What happened to small town hospitality? read more

Decided to give it a try while working an event at the racetrack. I'm a big fan of the rachel sandwich. Unfortunately their version just really wasn't my favorite. First of all it really did not have enough meat and instead of sauerkraut it had a sweet coleslaw. It wasn't bad, but just not what I was expecting and craving. It was mostly coleslaw with little meat. Also did not come with any side, unlike my girlfriends tuna sandwich which came with fries even though my Rachel was like $1 more. My girlfriend was not a huge fan of hers either, said it was rather watery. Everyone was friendly and the food came out promptly. Prices were also decent, but the sandwiches were just not great, just ok. Probably would try some other place next time or a different sandwich. read more

Really great food. I have been eating here for 20 years and never had a bad meal. Even the pickles are awesome!

I love the Fish Sub at Mae Lee's, and find it hard to order anything else on the menu, but the meatball sub is also very delicious! I don't like their French fries though, as they are always "whimpy"! No crispness on the outside, so if I order them I bring them home and stick them in my toaster oven for a few minutes. read more

I went there expecting a nice lunch but was I disappointed with the staff and not only the food was not up to par. There was lipstick on my cup and there was hair on my child's food. I also got a drink thinking you cannot mess this up but was I wrong the drinks had no carbonation. It was truly a horrible experience that ruined my day. Came here the other night before going to the high school baseball game and it was great. I love the friendly and fun atmosphere as well as the caring and outgoing staff. They yelled at me while walking in the door that the grill was off while a lady in the back stared at me and pointed to the clock. It was dry, I mean dry, no fat to get that melt in your mouth taste and it was very small, evident by the price. Amazing modern urban find behind this unnoticeable facade! We have lived in Sebring 20 years and drive to the post office across the street from Mae Lee's at least once or twice a week, and we never "noticed" this place beyond first glance. Then one day we "saw" the sign, I suddenly wondered out loud what it was, and my husband quickly turned into the parking lot and waited while I went to the door to find out. (He's wonderful to travel with.) Holy Moly! NOT what I expected, turned and waved him to come in, and his exclamation after walking through the door had been mine. Holy Moly! We've been back 4 times in 2 months for different sandwiches and fish and specials and not once have we been disappointed. Brought visitors and they enjoyed their food. We've seen postal workers, students, locals. It's a place for 1 or more and all will find good food and good help. They are big supporters of local schools and good causes. They are true Sebring. Go be surprised - and if you're travelers then this is a safe, good, and you don't have to worry about it place to eat and relax. Walk around from here too - go uptown to the historic district (go right as you exit door). Great used bookstore on your way to the circle and a few other shops. Ice cream shop is on the circle.
