The bbq pork stick was fire!! Amazing 10/10, the owner is really nice, and is always friendly

I've been coming here since 2014 and they have been around longer than that I only started trying them since my best friend told me how affordable and delicious their hombows are. I really enjoy the BBQ pork and chicken hombows as they are yummy and filling for a good price. If you buy a dozen, then you get two baked goods free which was neat. I got to try out the ham and corn hombow and coconut bread which was decent but not sure if I would get it again. I do want to try more of their menu but some of entrees are very expensive so I'm less inclined to order those but definitely want to try more of their baked goods or street food offerings. The service here isn't the best but it is professional and the lady or gentleman always ensures that your order is right. They don't do much small talk and just get you going with your goods. read more

I really wanted to like this bakery and have been here twice. This will be the last. I literally found a mini fly cooked on the top of the pineapple bun. See photograph. At first I thought maybe it was a burnt crumb or dark sesame. It definitely has antennas and legs. Despite the dead cooked bug on my pineapple bun, I cut open another pineapple bun and realized how dense and dry it was in the center. It had no filling and unlike other buns I've had everywhere else, it's supposed to be light and airey, not hard like dry bread. I was very disappointed. The bbq pork bun center was also not centered as a big chunk of dry bread was in the center and the filling off to the side. The bbq pork tasted dry with a lot of fatty pieces and was dyed with a very bright red food coloring. The prices for the buns were over $3 and tasted very dry and unappetizing. Overall, this was my second visit, hoping the first was a fluke but the second with the dead fly on top was a deal breaker. The older lady who helped me the first time was very sweet. The older gentleman who helped me the second time was also very nice. I like to support local business but common. Please do some quality control on your baked goods before selling it. This dead fly cooked on top of the bun was a poor decision of either being lazy or hoping someone would not catch it. read more

I want to patronize this place more, I really do. Half the times I come by, the place is closed due to vacation/repairs/kitchen_issues/out_running_errands. I'm accustomed to seeing the front counter covered with plastic sheeting and I wonder if the place finally went out of business. read more

Came across this place on yelp and had to try it the next time I came around. Oh man, I was not disappointed. The hom bows are delicious. They are the better ones that I've had around the area. It's roughly $4 a bun, not a bad price nowadays with inflation. The inside of the bread is fluffy soft and then had the slight crunch from the outer part, it was made well. It would be great if they added more filling but the filling had a great taste of chunks of meat. My boyfriend ordered the pineapple bread and it had a sweet top coating, no filling. read more

Wow, who would've thought you could get delicious and authentic Chinese bakery goods from an outdated mall? I've actually never step foot inside this place, but I am lucky enough to get showered in BBQ pork buns at least once a month. Their BBQ pork buns are amazing. I prefer the baked ones over the steamed ones. The baked buns are soft and pillowy and they're filled up with just enough bbq pork. The bbq pork filling isn't too sweet either, which is something I am very critical about. I am also a huge fan of the curried beef buns. It's really unique in that it's both sweet and savory. And again, just the right amount of filling! No need to drive to Chinatown in Seattle for baked goods when you can just come here. Terrible service. I ordered a sweet and sour chicken, and sat near the counter. The guy working looked at me every time he came out of the back and never told me my food was ready. I finally went to the counter to ask about it and he hands me my food already cold. I've been coming here since I was in high school. I'm never coming back. This guy needs to hire some help. I really enjoy this place; they offer a selection of daily prepped street style foods as well as a nice menu of assorted dishes. Usually when I swing by I am just picking up a hombao and a bbq pork stick. Definitely a great quick pick-me-up food! Their freshly prepared dishes are also really good. So far I have tried the ginger beef with green onion and general tso's chicken. Both were pretty good! Don't shy away from this food court Restaurant! My kids and I LOVE Mae Mee's sweet pork humbows! Their other bakery items are very good too - my older son loves the red bean pastry. I've been eating at Mae Mee since I was a kid. When I got my first job at Sears, Mae Mee was my breakfast, lunch & dinner go to spot. Crab Rangoon hasn't changed & it's still so good. If you're from Hawaii, their BBQ hombow is the closest you'll get to manapua. The glaze is sweet but if you're craving manapua, this might be the closest to it. Mae Mee Bakery used to be one of the only places that were open late enough for my family to eat out at after my parents got off work. We're been going here for almost 10 years now and I continue to refuse to eat broccoli beef anywhere else. Our family is the type to stick to what we're comfortable with so I'm not too sure about the other food, but I love love their broccoli beef and take my friends whenever I get the chance. As for the "bakery" part, I love their coconut bread (sweet bread filled with melted butter, sugar and coconut shavings). I'm not a fan of coconut usually, but the bread is so good! Once when I started college and dormed, my parents brought me a box of 10 of them to eat throughout the week HAHAHA Also, the service couldn't be any better. We've known the couple owns it for a long time too now (obviously) and they always remember our order and the little conversations we have. She congratulated me on graduating high school when we went around that time because she remembered how old I was. I don't know about anyone else, but I just thought that was so sweet. read more

Love the hum bow here. Most hum bow I've eaten are dumpling style, but the ones they sell here are like based bread. Really love the bread here. The filling is good too. Tried the bbq pork and curried beef. Hum bow are $2.50 each, which I thought was a reasonable price. Get two and you're probably good for lunch. The food was good here. I had the steamed chicken hom bow and loved it. The whole place was ruined for me because of how rude the lady was. I understand there was a little bit of a language barrier and I'm always understanding of that but she was just straight up rude. Also, she saw me waiting for my food for a long time and didn't bother to tell me that I was supposed to be waiting on the other side. Even though this is in the food court of The Commons (a review on this so called mall some other time) this has some of the best chicken chow mein I have ever had. For about $6, you get a good amount of goodness and always have left overs. I usually bring it home, or else I would have to eat it in a food court. The woman who works there is also very nice. This place has the best fried rice. You get a huge amount too for 7.50. Just make sure you get the special friend rice. It pairs well with the special chow mein, also awesome, also 7.50. I would take these two entres over a pizza any day of the week. Its made fresh, so its best to call in your order 20 minutes ahead of time or you will be waiting around. If you not an absolute pig like me and my friends the two entres will feed 4 easily. read more
