I hadn't really thought about going through insurance (I was kind of in a literal fog for a bit), until I got a call from a Farmers rep asking if I was OK and if I needed anything. I asked around and many said it would be a good idea to just go through my insurance to cover any expenses to clean up my home and fix any damages due to the winds and fires. So I called the rep back and said I'd like to go through the process of making a claim. The process was very painless and it was all done online. A couple days later, I got a call from a Farmers adjuster and made an appointment to do an assessment of my home. The adjuster came only a few days after the call, all the way from the East Coast. After spending about an hour or so looking over my home, the adjuster went back, did his report, and sent me digitally a full, detailed assessment of what needed to be done and an estimate of the costs. This whole process took only a week or so to wrap up. This was highly unexpected, as I heard from neighbors and others affected by the fires that their insurance was taking forever and in some cases wouldn't even be able to help due to lack of fire coverage. What should have been a straightforward claim turned into an almost year-long ordeal. A Best Buy delivery truck was involved in an incident that damaged my parked vehicle while making a delivery to my family's home. I reported the incident immediately and provided more than enough documentation and photographs supporting my claim. Throughout the process, I repeatedly followed up and spent an unreasonable amount of time trying to get answers. I was given updates and reassurances along the way, only to ultimately have the claim denied. Even after I provided additional photographs and information, Sedgwick continued to maintain that there was not enough evidence connecting the delivery vehicle to the damage. They were so cold and heartless. What was particularly frustrating was the lack of accountability and the amount of time it took to get a meaningful resolution. I felt like I had to continually chase the claim, provide the same information, and escalate the matter just to have someone take the situation seriously. The experience was incredibly frustrating and left me with very little confidence in Sedgwick's claims process. When a company is handling claims on behalf of a major company like Best Buy, I would expect a professional, transparent, and fair investigation-not a process that leaves a customer fighting for answers for nearly a year. Ultimately, after approximately a year of dealing with this issue, the matter was finally resolved by me escalating the matter to a person through Linkedin (not Sedgwick) Best Buy should seriously reconsider whether Sedgwick is the right company to represent them when handling customer claims. The way this claim was handled was unnecessarily difficult, time-consuming, and frustrating, and I would not recommend Sedgwick based on my experience.
