Birthday dinner at Maggiano's and I walked in with a mission: crème brûlée. It's not listed on the menu, but you can request it anytime, and thank youuuu because theirs was exactly what I wanted. 10/10 birthday dessert. Food-wise, I had the Spaghetti & Wagyu Beef Meatball, and our table also got the lasagna and chicken parm. Everything was good and everyone was happy, but for the price (about double most other Italian chains), nobody was really blown away... until dessert. Between the crème brûlée and tiramisu, the entire table agreed that was the standout part of the meal. They were slammed when we went and we had a few service changes because of the rush. Getting drinks and putting our order in took longer than usual, but once we had a consistent server, it was all good. Busy nights happen. They also did a solid job keeping everything clean even during the chaos, and the restaurant itself is really beautiful. I'll be back, but I'm probably coming back just for the crème brûlée. The food was good, it just felt pricey for not having anything that really stood out in portion or flavor for my whole family. I had multiple family members in my party who've eaten here a lot tell me it tastes noticeably different than it used to. They said they've mentioned it to management before and were told changes were made to cut costs, and honestly, it shows in quality unfortunately. I want to start out by saying the food was excellent and our server was amazing. For obvious reasons, I can't give their name out of respect for the information they gave us, but the service we had was excellent. The low star rating is due to the atmosphere and the complete lack of respect your management team has for their employees and each other. While we were eating, we experienced Jenny (we asked her name) completely berate another co-worker. She was telling him how terrible at his job he was and just ripping into him. My wife thinks our server said his name was David. Anyway, he looked horrified and embarrassed. He disappeared for a while afterword but she hung out on the floor and was talking to an older guy who appeared to be a manager. Eventually, a woman showed up and tried to have a conversation with Jenny about the incident and she seemed glad she ripped into that kid. The female manager looked to the male manager (if I remember correctly it was Raul and Mary (?)) for support and he just laughed and walked away. She seemed shocked and we thought that was completely disrespectful. We mentioned it to our server and they didn't seem to be all the surprised. Apparently, Jenny is his favorite employee and it was kind of implied even more (hence not telling their name). While this was a bit of an overshare on our server's part, they were amazing at their job and a little gossip is never a bad thing (especially, if you are that disrespectful to your fellow managers). Anyway, is this the type of environment you support at this restaurant? While the food and our server was great, I haven't been able to stop thinking about Jenny and Raul's behavior towards their co-workers and how bad it must have been for David to be treated in such a way. wow! Where do I even begin? First off the ambient lighting paired with the authentic Italian food made for a wonderful celebration for our friends engagement. Bethany was an exquisite waitress and took very good care of our large party. she even gave us a complementary dessert to celebrate such a happy time in our friend's lives. I can't recommend this place enough, zero complaints all around the board. Will be returning next year for the anniversary. I myself had the vodka pasta with grilled chicken. This meal was some of the best Italian food I've had in the Kansas City area. I loved it so much. I asked our sweet waitress Bethany to complement the chef. The chef actually wrote out the recipe and gave it to me on a piece of paper. It had been years since I last had Maggiano's and to my surprise, I was pleasantly impressed by the updates (fresher ingredients and new items) to their menu even though they've done away with the 'Buy one, take one' pasta option. Our waitress was truly amazing and made sure every single person at our table felt and was taken care of. Anytime we had a question about the menu, she went above and beyond to provide answers, which truly made the experience feel worth every penny. Despite it being such a busy night with prom and graduation celebrations, she checked on us regularly which is something I genuinely appreciate when going to a restaurant. As appetizers I ordered: *Truffle Garlic Bread - Filled with ricotta butter, Romano, mozzarella, and aged Parmesan. The truffle flavor was bold but not overpowering--absolutely amazing, especially for a truffle lover like myself. However, I do wish it had been served on their ciabatta bread or even a baguette, which I think would have complemented the flavors better as I felt the bread utilized was too soft for this appetizer. * Crab Cakes with Lobster Cream - This was hands down my favorite appetizer! It had just the right amount of spice and was packed with crab, making it absolutely worth it. As an Entrée I ordered: *Rigatoni Alla Vodka - Made with a rich tomato vodka sauce, caramelized onions, and Calabrian chilis, and paired with parmesan-crusted chicken. I am not a big national chain person and this visit proves why. I had a meeting there so I had to go. I had the beef tenderloin medallions dish. I was surprised with good flavor but the meat was super tough (with a good Medium-rare temp). Service was polite but sub par. We were often given plates to pass to the next person. Two hour dinner, I drank my glass of water quickly and was not offered a refill until 1.5 hours later. Prices were very high (with the quality of food and service). Would not recommend. Seemed pretty pricy for a pasta dinner for 6, but it was too late for me to make a reso elsewhere on Mothers Day, so we proceeded as my mother really wanted to eat here. Disapointed is putting it mildly. The server never asked us if we wanted drinks, after she took the food order I kept waiting and had to ask if we can order drinks. Because it was family style, we chose a few options in each course and the food started coming. Every course that came out was brought before the previous course was cleared. The staff did not work to help each other out at all. (My husband and I had both worked in the industry for years) We had so many plates on the table at all times and often did not have the right silverware, had to ask for forks, knives and serving spoons a few times. I read reviews, but did not realize this was a more expensive and "fancy" version of Olive Garden. Sure, the portions are GIANT, but I'd personally rather have regular portions for less expense (I'm looking at you, $35 lobster ravioli). If you want local and quality, do not go. This place is so good but don't ever go without a reservation. Even on a random Wednesday or Thursday night we have had an issue with getting a table because we didn't have a reservation. Fortunately we stayed last time, even though they told us it could be over an hour and they got us a table in about 20 minutes. I've always loved their cheesecake, Ravioli & fettuccine Alfredo. I am a big fan of their "Marcos menu for two" You'll get the following for 54$ without including tax. Solid deal TBH A starter or 2 side salads 2 pastas 1 Dessert Ambiance is amazing!!! You always need to make a reservation to avoid any waiting time especially during dinners and weekends. It's usually very busy. They even ask you if we're visiting Maggiano's to celebrate any particular occasion when you make a reservation. That's nice of them to be prepared. Parking is fully packed & it's a large parking space. We haven't tried any wine this time but i always liked their red wine options. We ended up ordering a Italian meat balls (a starter), Fettuccine Alfredo pasta & Four cheese ravioli (pastas) Italian meat balls were so good. Soft & well cooked with tomato sauce. I loved the Four cheese ravioli too especially the sauce. I received my birthday email as I am signed up for their emails, etc. So my friend wanted to take me for my birthday since she had such a wonderful experience on her birthday. I can't say the same. The table next to us the birthday girl received a dessert(not lemon cookie) and 2 roses and they sang Happy Birthday. I got zilch! So let's just say that if you have to pay extra for such things then it should be noted. Also it says NO WHERE that your only choice for your birthday dessert is the lemon cookies. Read and reread my email several times and nowhere did it say they were my only choice. My friend spent over 80.00 for our lunch but to be honest for it being my birthday and my friend had received such a wonderful birthday there I felt like I may as well went through a McDonald's drive thru. Best meal I've had a Maggiano's for last couple years. Everything was very good! Flatbread w/sausage- excellent! Maggiano's salad-excellent and good sized for side salad. I had Rigatoni D-excellent, good amount of sauce (in past I've had where pasta was too aldente and not enough sauce). Mom had Baked Ziti- she loved it. Dad had spaghetti and meatball. Such a wonderful location! When we arrived we were greeted and promptly sat. The gentleman that sat us was so kind and personable. We're even both from Orange County! The restaurant is super clean and spacious. Our sever Jada was incredible. She was on top of service and really put in that extra effort that makes you want to come back again. Maggiano's is an Italian chain, that overall, does a great job with their menu items. Now, this place isn't way high end Italian prepared dishes. BUT, it sure smacks the chain Italian places (like Olive Garden). There's no comparison between these two places - Maggiano's knocks their tails in the dirt! Maggiano Salad: This salad is pretty darn good and the dressing coating the mixed greens salad is a touch of sweet tasty dressing. Mix that with their smoky bacon...a little blue cheese chunks...yes this salsa works. Wedge salad: another great salad. This salad is served in an iceberg wedge and it'll have blue dressing and blue cheese chunks. Chicken Parm: (2) larger chicken breast pounded out and a nice outer coating fry. Their marinara sauce always has a touch bright, yet balanced flavor to it. Pasta side was good on this night. Shrimp dish: there were tons of grilled shrimp in this dish, to compliment the linguine pasta. Note: this dish was (not) remotely spicy at all (as listed in menu). Desert sampler: Hey, only $14 and this was worth it. Crème brûlée wasn't too good...but all the rest of the deserts were pretty good. A good amount of each..certainly enough for a table of 3 or 4....especially after a heavy carb meal at an Italian place. Atmosphere of Maggiano's is always comfortable. Or wait staff was far less than ideal. But I could see how other tables were served...or one been to many Maggiano's across the US...they're usually very good wait service. read more

Another great Italian spot! I went here on a whim, I actually intended on going to KPOT but they had twice the wait and I am a sucker for good Italian food. The service was quick and super friendly. My wife and I both ordered drinks, which were both delicious. I ordered the smoked old fashioned and I was very pleased with the presentation, smell, and its taste. One thing we both really enjoyed was the flavor in our dishes. The rigatoni alla vodka was great, had a nice creaminess to it, and had the right saltiness to it. The beef tenderloin medallions were also really delicious! This plate reminded me of one of my favorite dishes that Olive Garden got rid of, the Braised Beef Medallions. I did not realize they had different sizes of this dish, but let's just say I'll definitely get the larger portion the next time I am in. Being an Italian restaurant, I would have hoped for larger portion sizes where I am leaving with leftovers, but the portions were still adequate. We were deciding between KPOT and Plate. I appreciate that the portions here are much larger than what Plate has to offer, just not at the size of what we would get at Garozzos's our favorite Italian spot in the area. All in all, Maggiano's is a great place for a nice dinner date with delicious food. This is now going to be on my rotation list from now on. I may not have left with leftovers, but I did leave happy and expecting to be back some time soon. read more

We had an 8:00 reservation and got there early. Waited just about ten minutes then were seated. Our server started off ok but once she took our food order she disappeared. We ordered food around 8:15 and waited until almost 9:00 to even see our waitress so we could ask where our food was. There were tables sat after us that received their food before we did. Interesting that not many other recent reviews mention how Maggiano's has gone down hill. The quality of food our last visit was so poor that we decided we won't be going back, especially with the price tag. The bread has changed, you no longer pour olive oil yourself nor do they keep the bottle on the table, and we had to ask for parmesan and black pepper. And the pepper is longer fresh cracked pepper, it is flavorless table shaker pepper. Budget swaps for what used to be served. The salads were good but extremely small for $7.99. The entrees were below average (fettuccine alfredo with boiled chicken and the parmesan cod drenched in oil) - I would have rather eaten at Olive Garden. The tab at the end? $86. For 2 people. Walking into this restaurant was the vibe of upscale but inviting. Set up to be interactive with the table next to you. The server we had was outgoing and friendly. She gave out suggestions and was very attentive to the table which was a plus. Our table had the Mama's lasagna, Alfredo and the Shrimp Fettuccine. All were delicious and flavorful. Next was dessert. The warm Apple tostada w/ ice cream was delightful. The butter cake was also a hit. The lemon cookies were good but not a full cookie but more like six pieces to make one cookie. It was my first time here and definitely not my last. I went to celebrate an anniversary and our waitress, Sandy, was incredibly amazing by bringing me a single rose to start the dinner. I ordered the Parmsean Cod with Calabrian Honey and it was literally one of the best dishes I've had at any Italian restaurant, my new staple dish. The cod was perfectly crusted, the honey just pairs so well with the slightly salty crisp of the fish as well as the blistered grape tomatoes and sweet peppers, just absolutely delish! Sandy ended our anniversary dinner with, yet another, delicious plate of moon shaped lemon glazed cookies. If I could, I'd have a whole bucket of it.
