This was a place I chose to not only show my gratitude to my friends for allowing me to stay with them for a short time, but to prove I could find good Italian food in Kansas. This restaurant was no exception. It met every expectation that I would look for at home. Our table was ready as soon we arrived and we were put in the corner with the table lined with white cloth, giving the indication we were all in for a lovely dinner. My friend had the Chicken Piccata, while his partner and I each had a plate of beef medallions. Mine came with mashed potatoes and onion strings. I also choose a bottle of The Federalist Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon to go with our plates. My dish was incredible I now reminisce about it as I type away. Since it was a nice restaurant and no one else wanted dessert, I had to see if they had creme brulee on the menu. They did, and I didn't hesitate to order it. It was the biggest one I have ever had to date but there was one problem with it: IT WASN'T ICE COLD. While that was a minor disappointment, I was very impressed by the food and the service. As a matter of fact, I took the wrong receipt home and realized there wasn't an actual tip, so I called them back, spoke to the manager, and made sure that my server got the 34-dollar tip I meant for her to have. read more

Interesting that not many other recent reviews mention how Maggiano's has gone down hill. The quality of food our last visit was so poor that we decided we won't be going back, especially with the price tag. The bread has changed, you no longer pour olive oil yourself nor do they keep the bottle on the table, and we had to ask for parmesan and black pepper. And the pepper is longer fresh cracked pepper, it is flavorless table shaker pepper. Budget swaps for what used to be served. The salads were good but extremely small for $7.99. The entrees were below average (fettuccine alfredo with boiled chicken and the parmesan cod drenched in oil) - I would have rather eaten at Olive Garden. The tab at the end? $86. For 2 people. We had an 8:00 reservation and got there early. Waited just about ten minutes then were seated. Our server started off ok but once she took our food order she disappeared. We ordered food around 8:15 and waited until almost 9:00 to even see our waitress so we could ask where our food was. There were tables sat after us that received their food before we did. I came here for a late dinner. The people at the front desk were very relatable and nice. Once seated, we were promptly given our drinks. I got the spaghetti with meat sauce and it was really good. Terrible. I use to love this place. Every year it gets worse, almost 100 for lunch no sides no dessert for 2 people, and to be honest, I brought my whole lunch home and fed to dogs. If I could give 10 stars I'd wish I could give 20. For over 5 years I've tried to have the perfect restaurant experience with my family, specifically with my mum. In that time I've not been successful. The food has either been subpar or too little. If that wasn't the case, it's was ruined with bad service or worse, all those things combined. A perfect outing for me mums birthday meal was on order and Magginos did NOT disappoint! They didn't just meet my expectations, they exceeded them. We got the family style meal and they just kept the food rolling in. Appetizers, salads, drinks, a mass of main courses and desserts were all delicious. If there was a problem, it was only that the table wasn't big enough for the boundless amounts of mouth-watering food. My only regret was that my stomach couldn't hold more food. I grew up eating at mom and pop authentic Italian restaurants on The Hill (St. Louis, Mo.), IYKYK. so I'm very picky when it comes to Italian food. Tried Maggiano's for the first time last night....The Caesar salad blew me away because it was indeed authentic dressing. I had the lobster carbonara and my husband had the Wagyu stuffed shells. Some previous reviewers rated it poorly,but I don't know why?! This was my husband and I first dinner here, words can't express how excellent the meal was. We started off with the crab cakes which included a small salad on the side. They were the absolute best crab cakes ever!! My husband ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and I had the lasagna, both were tasty. And for dessert we ordered the cannoli cake to go. Not only was the food great, but the service was too! Our server Reid was very polite. We enjoyed eating at Maggiano's a year ago. On a recent weekday in KC, we tried it again. Hubs and I split the chicken Marsala and we added a side of grilled asparagus. Both were mouth-watering delicious! Potions were perfect for splitting and we were both full. The bread basket and EVO were also divine. Big shout-out to our waiter, Wiley. Good job, you! This Italian restaurant is simply amazing, it's classy and makes you feel right at home. This is our second visit, it's been as pleasant as as the first time. We had the Linguini Di Mare which is a seafood dish and it was heavenly. Their calamari is what brought us back, it's hard to find places that make it right and tastes so good. The service also makes it a great dining experience, we have had excellent servers. We ordered a desert sampler to top off our meal, it was so delicious and plenty for 2 people. Came here for a birthday dinner and would overall call this place average. Not as basic as a Olive Garden but a step above. I will admit that the group I was with was difficult and 4 of the 14 people got there late but it took them a long time to bring out drinks for the people who were there and it took a long time for appetizers. The people who got alcoholic beverages took even longer to receive their drinks. For appetizer I got the calamari fritte, it was not good. The calamari was on the verge of being wayyyyy too salty. It was chewy as well and I found myself swallowing it whole on a few occasions. For my main entree I ordered the BEEF TENDERLOIN MEDALLION which had Portabella Mushrooms, Balsamic Cream Sauce, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Crispy Onion Strings. I only got the 6oz because I am not a big meat eater. But it was a nice dish. They give me a birthday surprise. It was a big dinner plate with a strawberry in the middle and little lemon cookies all around that I got to share with the rest of my table. Always a good family experience for us. We came for my daughter's birthday and they went way out of their way to make it a special experience for her. When dining for nine it can be chaotic but our waitress was great! I had Shrimp Diavolo. It is a rare thing to get shrimp cooked that perfectly in a restaurant! 90% of the time at just about any restaurant they are overdone. They have started doing Smoked Manhattans and Old Fashioneds. We eat here often due to location. We do a lot of our shopping in this area and enjoy having an Italian option for lunch/dinner. This is always a stable option for your pasta cravings, but it is never "amazing" and we always feel disappointed when we leave that we spent so much for basic food. My chicken Parmesan was huge in portion size but very cold. I had to ask them to go warm up my plate as my chicken was cold and the spaghetti was not even warm. They warmed it up quickly but it was frustrating not having a fresh and hot meal. The service is always good, this place is always super busy, and the fresh bread is always good. I do have to mention their portion sizes are quite large and the option to buy one meal and take the other home is a nice option! read more

My first Maggiano's experience was nearly 20 years ago in Richmond, Va. They had me at 'Hello'. The service, food, ambiance & everything was superb & I haven't looked back. Now, down to the viddles...If you aren't a fan of pasta they offer seafood, steak & chicken as well as a variety of salads & delicious appetizers with calamari being my favorite. Everything is fresh/pipin' hot & oh so flavorful. WHATEVER I asked for was provided with such patience & sweetness. I literally felt like I was 'Queen for a day'! Now this is what I'm talking about. Lastly, several years ago in the heat of Summer my area suffered a huge power outage that lasted for nearly a week. I went to Maggiano's to pick up dinner as we were staying in a hotel. The wait staff treated me like royalty. They sent me home with family style meals that would feed my family of 4 for DAYS. This was 'on the house'. I was totally blown away as I had no idea that a casual conversation would lead to this type of kindness being extended to me & I will not forget how this made me feel. After a last minute decision to stop in and eat while in the area, we were pleasantly surprised by the outstanding service (kudos to our server). The food is all decent, nothing exceptional and pretty basic italian offerings. Portion sizes are large and had a lot to take home. The exterior of the building has gotten her attention many times. 1st off parking was horrible, almost had to park in the Verizon parking area. 2nd even with a reservation, the wait was almost 20 minutes. 3rd everything from there was great. With the help of our waiter, my wife ordered the mushroom Ravioli and we shared the bread and risotto bites. I enjoyed the bread and oil that they brought out, bread was hot & fresh while the oil mix was made at the table. The appetizer was crisp and flavorful especially with the side of marinara. My lasagna was really good and a large portion to boot, I only had a few bites as I was getting full and wanted to save room for the desert. My wife loved the ravioli she said the sauce was rich but in a good way. The desert was really good and fresh, I was pleasantly surprised with the entire service and quality. Our waiter suggested a special that provided two entrees an appetizer plus a desert with 2 entrees to go for later. This was more than reasonable on price and meal portions. Unfortunately Maggiano's is suffering like so many other places needing good help. Simply put, check your to go orders before you leave to make sure they are right. And it would be great if the kitchen staff could care a bit about what they are putting out. I ordered cheese ravioli with a white sauce and clearly someone had started to put marinara on it, caught the mistake, and finished it with right sauce. I paid extra for avocado in my salad and didn't have any. I asked for extra dressing for my salad and did not get any. I did get the extra sauce I ask for for my ravioli though. The kid who brought my order out to my car sneezed on the bags (he used the hand carry my bags to cover his mouth) in front of my car- not wearing a mask. I'll try them again in a few months in hopes of a better experience because typically their food is pretty good. read more

Slowest service we have ever had at this restaurant. From sit down to leaving 90 minutes. Starting from first greet, ordering drinks, receiving drinks, receiving appetizer, getting main course. After 20 minutes of when the server said he "checked on the food and it would be out soon" it still was not out. Had to go find manager (who had already checked on us before because it didn't look like server had been by), and informed him of wait. Food came out shortly after. Speaking of the bread, they have olive oil and parmesan at the table but I recommend you ask for some balsamic to give your dip a bit more character. For the dessert I chose the double chocolate brownie which came with fresh fruit and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. So delicious! Date night at Maggiano's the other day! Been here a few times but never wrote a review before. This time, I remembered to take pictures. The food here is definitely the star of the show and it is well deserved. Some of my favorite dishes here are the Rigatoni, Veal Marsala, and Seafood Pasta! On this night, I tried the chicken Parmesan and it was really nice as well. The breading on the chicken was thin and crispy. I substituted the spaghetti with a fettuccine as well. We also got a pitcher of white sangria, it'll serve about four classes so it's perfect for two people. Overall, the food at Maggiano's is a 5/5 every time. The reason I wanted to give this review a 4/5 was because of our server. It was a Friday night and the place was quite busy. I understand why he might've felt rushed but his mood/attitude put a damper on our experience. That being said, don't let that influence your decision to come here.
