Exactly 20 minutes after taking my first bite of that plate, my body didn't just reject the food--it rejected the universe. A searing wave of abdominal heat hit me so hard that my vision turned completely black and white. I barely made it to the nearest urgent care before passing out on the waiting room floor. The hazmat team was called in. The doctors had to put me into a medically induced coma for two weeks just to isolate whatever dark magic was happening inside my digestive system. When I finally woke up, the medical debt was so massive that the hospital legally claimed ownership of my future children. The trauma was so profound that I developed a severe, involuntary panic attack every time I saw the color white or red. My employer fired me after I fainted during a slide presentation that featured a picture of a street cart. Unable to pay rent, my landlord evicted me and changed the locks while I was still in the ambulance for a follow-up ER visit. My entire family held an intervention, decided I was a bad omen, and collectively changed their last names so they couldn't be associated with me anymore. I lost my soulmate, my credit score fell to single digits, and my bank account currently has a negative balance that violates the laws of mathematics.
