It's been a couple of years since I last visited Greek Cove in Merrick, but it made me happy once again. Th space is small, but there is a bunch of seating to dine in. We started off with the falafel and hummus. Falafel, served with pita, is fried to a lovey crisp with a creamy interior. Both the hummus and tahini are nice and smooth. The combo plate is a ton of food and great for sharing, we even left with leftovers. Served with 2 pitas, a nice sized Greek salad, a load of fries, tatziki and your choice of 2 meats. We got the gyro and chicken souvlaki. The gyro is really delicious, well seasoned, juicy and wonderful. The chicken also had great flavor, albeit slightly on the dry side. I have been coming to this Greek Cove location for several years. We would stop to pick up food before heading down to the beach. Not sure if there are new owners but the people manning the counter during our recent visit were not friendly at all. I ordered two sandwiches to go. When I got there at the designated time for pick up the food wasn't ready and I was made to feel that I was rushing them. I had to wait another 10 min for my order and when the food was ready and I picked up the bag against my better judgement I didn't check the bag to see if I was given plastic utensils and napkins as I had requested. Needless to say as my wife and got to the beach and were ready to eat we were kind of disappointed to find out tge we were not provided plastics forks, knives or napkins as I had requested. I mean c'mon are things that bad that they can't provide utensils. We spent $38 for 2 sandwiches and drinks but we didn't spend enough to get utensils abd napkins???? You may have saved a few pennies but you have lost my business forever! read more

We stopped by for lunch and loved everything about it here! The restaurant had plenty of seating with a huge glass door open in front for an open indoor/outdoor concept which provided a beautiful ambiance on a nice day. The prices were a great deal for their huge portions!! We got the baba ganoush which came with 3 homemade pitas and the gyro sandwich with fries. All were very tasty with big portions that was a enough for a meal of leftovers the next day. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately for us we came for lunch while visiting family and don't live near by, but if we did we would definitely make this place a regular stop! The ABSOLUTE BEST Greek salad EVER. First of all, it was HUUUUUUUUUGE. I mean, so huge that I got THREE meals out of it, and it stayed fresh for three days, too... even more impressive. I also ordered some gyro meat a la carte...... they gave me such a huge portion of that, as well. The Greek Salad included romaine lettuce, Feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, red onions, Kalamata olives, with their house vinaigrette, and came with pita bread, as well. The vegetables were oh so fresh, and the salad dressing was delicious. Everything about this salad was top notch all the way. I'd return in a heartbeat. Shame on me for not listening to the bad reviews. In my defense, I attempted to get my husband to choose another Greek place but he insisted, "we don't have to do everything Yelp tells us to do!" And now, $65 later, I'm regretting not listening to my heart AKA Yelp. Maybe we caught them on a bad night but this was not a very smart dinner choice for us. The falafel platter was literally a bunch of falafel with fries. For $20!!! Excuse me?! I'm a nurse, not a billionaire! (Please see pic for what I got for 20 dollhairs. I'm still very upset about it). If that wasn't bad enough, I got a Greek salad that didn't come with dressing, my husband ordered a Fanta and was given a Sprite (it's as if they just said "no, we're not going to let you know we're all out of your desired pop, here's a completely different flavor and hopefully you won't notice"), and the smallest slice of $6 baklava you'll ever sink your teeth into. The other negative was that we specifically asked for tzatziki sauce and were just not given any. I can't imagine a Greek restaurant ran out or just didn't have any. The falafel was grainy and dry without a sauce to eat it with. I'm giving two stars because the food wasn't awful; it just wasn't very good. So .... Do I really need a reason to have dinner out ?? I think not.... We decided to try Greek Cove because we were looking for a cheaper option than our normal Mediterranean haunts. Missed the mark on that count but we will absolutely be going back. A small 'take out' place with a few tables so it is best to call in your order. They have an app that comes with their three spreads: hummus and baba ganoush are great - the red pepper feta dip not so much - we never end up finishing it, or even eating it. Will try to remember to just order the first two. The trio serving is enormous for like $20. Someone said the wings were good, so sampled the small size, they were pretty good - as good as your local pub. The doner was superb. Did the beef/lamb and the chicken gyros. My guest ordered her gyro without tomato. Didn't know why. Ended up being a good move. The tomato wedges in the gyro were not good (not fresh) and even the red onion was wilted and had a taste. We also did Greek salads which came with grape tomatoes- much better - but the red onion in the salad was also gross - kinda mop-water tasting. Otherwise the salad and their dressing was incred. Their tzatziki also had all the right flavors - very cucumber-y, yet it was kinda watery and not a consistency I've had before (I'm not the Greek food connoisseur so take that FWIW). We did a platter of the beef for the kids to split - no kids menu, but that was perfect for the boys. Will definitely order again for convenience (they accept orders from all the apps) - and prep and delivery quoted times were speedy. I will add my own fresh cut tomatoes and red onion from home to my gyro when I order next. read more

Came in for lunch with some friends. It was a beautiful day & the glass was open so the fresh air was flowing in. The service was very friendly & accommodating for some of my friends' dietary needs. We all enjoyed our meals. One friend had the falafel salad and thought it was delicious. Another friend had the falafel in a pita, and it was overflowing with goodness, and our other friend had a rice bowl with shrimp, and she could not believe how fresh everything tasted. HUGE portion.. side of fries were amazing, hot and crunchy.. tzatziki can use a little more flavoring.. spicy feta dip was a little lack luster .. nice warm pitas served with... this was a tremendous amount of food.. a small salad can definitely be split between 1-3 people depending on how hungry you are.. sides of meat come separate. Nothing was soggy since we ate there but this probably Will be soggy if you bring it home (is: fries and pita). Fairly priced, friendly staff... we sat inside and it was bustlin' by 330pm. I used to go to this place a lot. Their Greek food is excellent. The place is nice and bright. I have done both take out/dine in. When you used to dine in here, they would serve you your food on plates and bowls like any normal place. Now, instead of that, they give you EVERYTHING in a to go container as if you ordered take out. What is the point of having seating/option to dine in? It is LAZY. For example, if you order a greek salad with chicken. They give you the salad in a to go salad container. Chicken in a tin to go container, and the dressing in separate wrapped containers. You then yourself dump the salad, chicken onto a separate plate. When you have to dump the salad yourself , now all the topppings are all on the bottom. Dining out since COVID has gone up in price and when you expect to dine out you should differ the take out/dine out experience. It's very very lazy of the owner to be doing this I do love the food, but just because of this issue I will NOT be returning to dine in ever again. It has been like this for a year+ now. read more

Good customer service and large portion sizes. Convenient location. Unfortunately the food was just ok. The falafel were kind of grainy, and fell apart when bit into. They came in the same container as the lemon potatoes and they were sitting in that butter so they were very oily. I had to put them on a paper towel to soak up the butter. The lentil soup was not bad, just boring. Even the tadziki was bland! The potatoes were good. $28 for the falafel platter and small lentil soup was steep, too. I placed my order without having seen the restaurant... a mistake I think. It looks more like a small generic chain than an authentic Greek establishment. read more
