Teri Jin remake. She took the residual crab UC from the hem and created a rose broach!

Maggie is more than a seamstress. She is a designer. She will take the gowns or whatever you bring in and actually make it a couture experience. Add it to the fact that she is absolutely the most sweetest and gentle person to work with with always a bit of life advice

Maggie can do wonders! I came to her for alterations with a secondhand wedding gown that was too small in the waist and needed significant adjustments all over, plus a bustle. She worked quickly and did a fantastic job, using fabric to create a new panel in the back that was flawless, blending in with the rest of the dress. She was competent, professional and fantastic to work with, and I felt absolutely beautiful on my wedding day. Trust me, go to Maggie.

    Butcher job

Horrible! I don't understand HOW this lady has so many good reviews. She is rude and lazy. The shop smells like mold and there are pieces of clothing everywhere. She barely pinned my bridesmaid dress, said it would be ready in a week and when I went to pick it up at the scheduled time she said she FORGOT about it and it wasn't ready! Like wtf... When I finally got to try on the dress another week later, I could see the stitches sticking out and the worst part... she didn't pin the fabric around the hem all the way, so the dress is now SHORTER in the back. Check out her face when she saw the terrible and irreversible mistake she'd made. I just threw a $800 dress and the $140 she charged me in the trash. Do not bring your clothes here. Stay away!

    Unfinished

I brought in 2 gowns to be altered over 3 weeks before they were needed. We did a fitting two weeks after to check the fit. One gown had been adjusted so it was about 2" shorter than originally agreed. Maggie was trying to pull the hem down to no avail. When I got my gowns another week later the fits were fine however one gown still too short and not properly finished so the sequins was digging into my skin at the seams, the other had off color tulle rim. I ended up having to clean up her work so I was able to comfortably wear the dress. My main complaint is that the workmanship was terrible for the price. It looked like a rush job and was still charged $800! I would not use her again.

My new long coat that she sewed to fit me better but as you can see there are "lumps" where she sowed. It's too obvious now.

I brought in my brand new long wool top coat to get taken in and when I picked it up I noticed that she has done a not so good job sewing the back area. I saw too many "lumps" in the area where she sewed. It doesn't even match closely to the rest of the seam where she didn't sew. Especially at the very top where the collar is. I couldn't believe what she did.

    Suit fit great!

Maggie is so sweet and talented. She'll hype you up with tons of words affirmation. First time getting anything tailored and thoroughly enjoyed the process. I was hesitant at first finding somewhere that I'd feel comfortable getting a men's suit tailored, but Maggie made it a very safe space. Everything was done in a timely manner and quality was great. I recommend!

She does a good job but extremely expensive. I came for a hem fix and was charged $40.

With my job I work in the entertainment industry and I have been doing it for a number of years and get paid about $500 a day for a 12 hour day. 500÷12 is 41.67 (rounded up) an hour. So for me to get paid $380 I would need to work 9 hours on the jacket. I can almost guarantee she is not working 9 hours to alter sleeves and to take in the waist of a leather jacket. So basically she quoting me a price per hour that lawyers and some doctors don't make. One could argue cost of materials but thread and maybe a zipper stop doesn't justify the price she quoted me. Update: she says I asked her over the phone for a quote and I didn't ask her over the phone for a quote. I asked her on this platform with pictures. And she quoted me a price that is worth more than the garment not to mention well over two times what I and many lawyers make an hour. I was going to go over the hill to your shop but I'm now glad I didn't because it would've been a waste of a trip. My review stands.

I would know, as I've shopped around and tried out different tailors, but I'm going to be a lifetime customer at Bas Arbat. Here's the short of it: * Value: top tier tailoring at an excellent price. The quality is the best I've found * Time: the turnaround times are FAST. I am big on tailoring the clothes I buy so they fit absolutely perfectly, and often times he'll have more basic alterations done within hours * Arman himself is super kind. Great guy. I genuinely look forward to dropping off & picking up my clothes. Plus, he always texts me when my items are ready to be picked up! If you need a tailor, Arman is the best you'll find.

Total cost was 160 dollars, including dry cleaning, which is less than half of buying a blazer at buck mason or something these days. The shop is small and unassuming. But we got along just fine and you can tell he is a real pro. There is a sign that indicates a 4% charge for credit or debit. I get it. It's a small business being hosed by the credit card companies. So bring cash if you want to save a little $$$. I hope this business grows and excels. It's nice to have a local old tailor that's fast and affordable nearby. I'll post pictures of my suit when I can but wanted to get this review out there to support our local businesses.

The…read moreritual is the same every time: you try the piece, the master kneels down and pins where he knows the work must be done, and the master lady (his wife) takes notes to calculate the cost. He barely speaks English, but he is kind and sweet and wise. Not even once he missed a spot, suggested a wrong idea, showed off or felt pretentious. For me, he is a master of the craft. I've been around, I have known many tailors, and this man is one of my very favorites. He finishes pinning, and he leaves gracefully, leaving the wonder woman to finish the accounting. There is always a SRP. She always asks for when do you need the work. They have A LOT of work, and they have a back room where many people work. If you are in a hurry, they deliver, at an added percentage. If you pay cash, "Cash is King" (her own poetic words), you get a better price. Every time they delivered the work in time. You can try the fixed pieces, and he makes sure you feel great and happy. Every time, I felt cared for and respected, almost pampered. There is the son, too. Maybe more than one working at the back. The son I know is fun, respectful and kind. Every other team member who I knew were always efficient and nice to deal with. I'm almost hoping to have another clothing item to bring to them to work their magic. I highly recommend this experience. It's, hands down, one of my favorites in LA.

I sent my husband to pick up my item, and he was charged for an alteration that was never mine. We were told it was a "past due balance," which made no sense as I have never had any outstanding charges. When I called to clarify, the owner, Sheri, admitted there may have been a mistake and that they likely confused me with another customer. However, instead of apologizing, she abruptly said she had customers waiting and could not continue the conversation, telling me I would need to physically return with the card later. I called back an hour later and provided my credit card information for the refund. While she agreed to process it before closing, when I expressed frustration over the inconvenience and their error, her response was, "Maybe you should find a place that makes you happier." What disappointed me most was not the billing mistake itself, but the complete lack of accountability, professionalism, or basic customer care. After 8 years of patronage, I will never return. I expected far better treatment from a business I supported for so long. This place seriously needs better leadership and customer service.
