I paid $400, and the result was honestly unbelievable. Christine never measured me. Not once. Everything was guesstimated. The corset was originally too small and the skirt was enormous, so Christine took excess fabric from the skirt to expand the back of the corset. Somehow, after alterations, a dress that started out too small came back MASSIVE and literally falling off my body. Christine pinned it smaller and had me return the day before the Emmys. I tried it on again and it was STILL too big, even with the corset tightened completely. I specifically asked Christine to replace a zipper I didn't trust. She assured me it was fine. It wasn't. It slid down all night, and my husband eventually had to knot the corset string around it just to keep my dress closed. I also repeatedly asked for a hook and eye. It still hadn't been added at my second fitting, and when Christine finally added one, it snapped in half at the Emmys. The hardware felt incredibly cheap. The dress was also still too long despite my asking for it to be shortened. So after paying $400 for "professional alterations," I spent the Emmy Awards pulling my dress up because it was too large, picking it up off the floor because it was too long, and having my husband rig the zipper because it wouldn't stay up. I should have been enjoying and celebrating one of the biggest nights of my career. Instead, I spent the entire night stressed, uncomfortable, embarrassed, and worrying about whether my dress was going to stay on my body. Never again.

The wonderful team of Luxury Alterations successfully and beautifully hemmed my dress to my liking without losing its integrity. Even with the inches taken off from the front of my dress, they were still able to allow a beautiful train in the back which looked beautiful as shown in the photos. Additionally, I also wanted to be able to move around during my wedding dance and reception. Marine suggested a 5 point bustle that allowed me to move around and dance comfortably throughout the night. And she did it beautifully without making my dress look frumpy. It was like wearing two dresses for the price of one. As a budget bride, I was worried about cost as many times the price of alterations is as much, if not more, than the price of the gown. Fortunately, I was quoted a very fair price that, to my delight, was less than the cost of my discounted dress.
