    Salted egg yolk lobsters (3lbs)
    Natalie C.

I have been to Bayview Garden twice and have seen several parties ordering lobsters during my previous visits. I decided to give their lobster dish a try this time. We ordered two lobsters totaling approx 3lbs for $54. Because I wanted to try the salted egg yolk flavour it costed an additional $5. The salted egg yolk batter was very well done. It was thin and coated the lobster pieces evenly. It had the flavour of the salted egg yolk but was not overly salty. They definitely gave us 3lbs worth of lobsters! However, one thing that was not so great was the first piece I bit into (the tail part), had a "muddy" taste. I find that most lobster that are 1.5lbs or less have this taste.... We also order stir fried beef tenderloin with broccoli. You can definely taste the "wok hey" in the beef. Instead of ordering plain rice, we ordered salted fish and chicken fried rice. It was one of the best one I had in the GTA and nearby region. It had the salted fish flavour, good amount of chicken pieces and it wasn't oily at all. I was honestly surprise to see minimal amount of oil on the plate after we packed the leftovers. Out of the 3 times I have been here, this was definitely the most memorable.

I haven't been here in ages, but over the past month, have ordered two massive feasts from here! It's a great option for some classic Cantonese food - not super oily (unlike Congee Queen), fantastic wok-hei, and very good portion sizes for delivery / take-out. This is a list of all that I ordered these past two times - a bunch of duplicates (the soft shell crab, salt and pepper squid, pork chops, and Singaporean curry rice noodles) because it was just *that* good) - all ordered from my most to least favourite. I also ordered drinks from this place - a red bean ice cream freeze (which honestly could've come with more red bean... it tasted quite diluted) and a milk tea (a touch too sweet and not strong enough, but quite rich and velvety in texture). Soft shell crab Such a generous portion! They cut a small hole in the corner to allow the steam to air out and prevent condensation. The first time I ordered, the soft shell crab was very crispy. Unfortunately, the second time was slightly more soggy - but nothing an air fryer can't solve! The flavour was great, and it's not too heavily breaded. Salt and pepper pork chops This is a classic. I love the pieces near the bone but also the more lean ones... I love them all! A great side to have with white rice. Not too spicy, but very flavourful. Salted fish and chicken fried rice For those who loved salted fish (me!), the fried rice here is quite generous in the portions. The rice itself is fluffy, not too dry, and falls into individual grains - a sign that it was well-stir-fried. Not oily at all, which I loved! Very tasty. Singaporean curry rice noodles Such a pleasant surprise! Each thread of noodle was individually coated in the curry flavour and not at all greasy nor wet. The flavour is great and there's a decent amount of shrimp / char siu / onions / stir-fried eggs. Usually not my favourite dish to get as I find restaurants are a hit-or-miss, but this is most definitely a hit! Seafood rice in lotus leaf This is a MASSIVE portion for delivery - enough to feed 4-5. It's very rich in garlic flavour (so my sister didn't like it as much) and has the nuanced aroma from the lotus leaf. There are sizeable scallop pieces with some small cut shrimp. A classic to have in the restaurant which surprisingly kept its standard in delivery / take-out. Salt and pepper squid I love squid - all things squid. This one in particularly was lightly breaded and quite salty / spicy. Again, my only qualm is that the cornstarch was slightly heavier the second time round and also soggier (similar to the crab). Tasted 100% after we air fried the leftovers though! Stir-fried beef hor-fun (rice noodles) Similar to the Singaporean rice noodles, the way these noodles are often treated are a hit-or-miss. Oftentimes the noodles are soggy / clumped up, chalky / grainy, or terribly oily. This place was fantastic. Portion size was great and a sizeable amount of beef as well. Stir fried green string beans (with minced pork and olive leaves) This is closer to the bottom of the list not because it wasn't great, but I did find it slightly oily. It's also harder to shine with such a basic vegetable stir-fry. Peking duck The duck pieces were good and the peking duck wrap quite soft, but I was disappointed that my order was soggy. The skin wasn't crispy at all - which is unfortunate as that defines peking duck. It was just soft and combined with the fattiness of the duck. The carcass of the duck was slightly too salty and hard to eat by itself. I'm also still slightly confused by this offering. It's $34 on UberEats but I wasn't sure whether that price came with wraps or not, so I ordered more for $7. If you want the lettuce wraps, it costs an additional $7. Sweet and sour pork Don't be fooled by the paler colour - the flavour is still there and strong! Ours got a little softer but it was quite good. Meat nuggets fried just right (not too hard that it's inedible) coated in a tangy sauce. Oyster with scallion The portion sizes here are generous - there were at least 12+ oysters - but I found it meh. A bit too rich but also not that good for oysters. Beef brisket I personally found this one meh - it was slightly too sweet for me and had a touch too much cornstarch. That said, they were quite generous with the meat portions. Overall, Bayview is fantastic when it comes to wok-air - the fried rice and noodles are a great testament to this fact!

Onion Pork Chop Rice with HK Milk Tea, lunch special
    Gray R.

I often get takeout here since they have some excellent lunch specials that come with a drink, I'll base my review on that or else I'd be one-starring it like another Yelper. My go-to is always the pork with onion rice with a hot milk tea which comes out to around $9 and it's 10/10 every time. Hands down one of my favourite Chinese meals to go for when I want to eat out. There's enough sauce on the meal, the milk tea is great, and portion size is excellent. I'm not a huge fan of pork as I find it a bit rough/dry and I don't like the taste of pork as is, but the pork here is tender, lean, and great. Recently I came in for a dine-in experience and it was absolutely horrible. Both food and service - not sure if it was an off day for the chef, but my table ordered a beef curry that was way too salty (think taking your entire day's sodium intake in one dish) and a wonton soup with a soup base that tasted nothing like the real deal (tasted like chicken broth or something). I had the beef curry in the past and ordered it thinking I'd get the same dish as always. The pork with onion rice I ordered was solid as always though, the only edible thing out of all we got, so maybe I just picked a dish the chef is really good at lol. When we brought up the 2 dishes with them, the server had a condescending attitude like we were making up the problems with the dishes but ended up bringing them back to the kitchen. Rather than remaking the wonton soup, they added some flavour to it. Still no flavour on round 2, and the noodles had become soggy from the back and forth, they offered to add salt to the wonton soup to give it flavour. Nice. We declined this offer and still ended up paying for this soggy, flavourless noodle. All in all, good food (mostly), horrible service, so I'll do myself a favour next time and stay far away from ever eating here in person. Take out it is for me!

Bayview Garden Chinese Cuisine at Central Parkway closed down. And here comes a Bayview Garden Restaurant! Lol They have completely different Chinese names but I think its the same owners. Revamped and replaced the viet place that was in the corner of The Chase plaza. Took my grandma and my mom here for dinner. We came at around 6pm and the place was pretty empty. But it people started slowly coming in. We ordered a set dinner for 4 ($98) which consisted of: Tofu seafood soup Green onion chicken Lobster Clams Steam Fish Bok Choi Dessert - mochi Thats a lot of food for just the three of us. But every dish was pretty good. I have nothing to complain about and im pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food. Both my grandma and mom were very satisfied and said definitely bring them back here. There's not a lot of good chinese food in the hood especially cantonese food. So im absolutely delighted to add a new spot to the list! The only thing was towards the end of dinner, it started getting busy, and we had to ask staff multiple times to get containers and the bill. They got so busy they lost track and forgot. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. But there's room for improvement, and we'll see how it goes next time!

    Peking duck

Yum! I haven't had such delicious and authentic Chinese food in a long time in Mississauga. We were celebrating my aunt's birthday with a table of 13 people. The restaurant was packed and some were waiting to be seated this Saturday evening. We had the Peking duck served 2 ways (the wrap was soft, thin and hot, the duck skin wasn't too fatty with no hairs on the skin; the second course was the duck chopped into small pieces served with veggies, then you wrap it in lettuce - it was super tasty), the 2 lobsters were prepared in a crunchy duck egg yolk batter (my fav of the evening), steamed fish, steamed rice with dried scallop and egg white, shrimp and veggie dish, and a few other dishes. The food came quickly and were always piping hot. The dessert that we chose was the mochi with crushed peanuts filling, the mochi was thin and not doughy. I will definitely be returning with my family and you should too!

    Honey chicken wings

We came on a Saturday for lunch. It's usually quite packed but this time it was decent and we only waited a few minutes for them to set up the table. My family has been coming here pretty recently because it's close to us and one of the newer Chinese restaurants in the Mississauga area. The servers initially wanted to give us a table right beside where they order and it was a standard square table. We were a party of four so we asked for a bigger one and got the big round tables that can sit 8+. The service is standard for Chinese restaurants I would say - nothing spectacular but will accommodate for your asks. We ordered the lunch special that comes with congee, fried rice, and rice noodles. It was a really good deal, I think around $20 and definitely a lot more than what 4 people could finish. We also ordered a side of the honey chicken wings. The congee was made very well and the youtiao fried perfectly. The rice and noodle portions were huge and we had some leftovers to pack. The chicken wings were big wings, glazed slightly with honey, and not too deeply fried. Overall the quality of food was good and we were able to sit comfortably and enjoy our food.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.
