    three meals in plastic containers
    Guli K.

Small spot dishing out some uniquely delicious mediterranean flavors. They offer some freshed baked items and an assortment of packaged items including a variety of hummus, salads and dips. I wanted to try one of everything but settled for lentil fingers, beet cacik and a multi grain salad. The lentil fingers and beet cacik were both outstanding. Can't wait to try more items from this local business!

Oh my. Prices are crazy. $36 for three frozen meat/cheese pastries. I thought they'd at least be warmed up but no. Had to bake them in the oven at home. I was hoping the taste would make up for it but they were very bland and smelled stale. Definitely not worth the price. I've had much better for far less.

    three different flavors

Visited on 8/13/22 and brought 3 items home from the cold case for ~$25. I was really excited to try this place after seeing 5 stars and more than 100 reviews. Luckily, it mostly lived up to the hype! The interior is TINY - really only space for one party at a time. Some dry goods, some beverages, some pastries, and then the cold case. We originally went in looking for a cake, but the pastries are more muffin/cookie types. They have maybe 15 different cold salad/dip/appetizer types inside a cold case. After checking them all out, we settled on some grape leaves, beet labne dip, and mediterranean hummus. The first thing we tried were the grape leaves. Amazing taste - ever so slightly lemony, moist without being soggy, and held together by a tangy grape leaf. At $10 for maybe 10 grape leaves, I wasn't super impressed by the value here, but the taste was great. Fortunately, no such value reservations on the other two! The beet cacik was really creamy, with lots of beet flavor and all tied together by the yogurt. The mediterranean hummus definitely tasted like olives, but was the perfect not too smooth but also not chunky texture. Definitely devoured everything from here and would love to go back and try some other new tastes!

    Croissant and cheese pagoca

The spanakopita here is absolutely amazing! The cheese pagoca is likewise delicious, although it is served cold, but I microwaved it when I got home and it was absolutely delectable. The croissants are good. I'm not a huge fan of the pide, but I've never had pide before so I can't compare. The baklava bites are very good. COVID restrictions: you need to order ahead by phone before you get there and they will bring your order to you at the window.

    Red Vegan Lentil Soup

We just got food from here for work lunch- delicious! We each got one of the filled breads. One of my colleagues called it a Turkish pizza. Spinach cheese was melty and awesome, and my colleagues also enjoyed the chicken, leek, and ground beef respectively. I had the lentil soup, which I def. recommend! It's that simmered down vegetable Turkish lentil soup that is so comforting and hearty. We'll be back to try other items on the menu!

Spinach-cheese pastry was to die for... And he warmed up my chocolate cookie! Could I ask for any better? Nope

A wonderful discovery just a 15 minute walk from the Arlington WorkBar. We (husband and I) had the spinach-cheese pastry and the potato pasty, both fantastic. Really flavorful. Iced coffee and a double espresso to wash it down, then a warm double chocolate cookie made our short visit exactly what we needed after a long day. We bought some spicy hummus to take home. I should also mention this is a family business and the dynamic is adorable. This shop is run with love.

Pita (pide) with chicken and cheese filling
    Katherine E.

Every bite is so savory! The pide (pita), warmed, was so filling and delicious. The basil hummus is bright, creamy, and went so well with the filled pide! The baba ganoush has such wonderful grilled eggplant taste! Be sure to try this and the basil hummus. Thank you to the co-owner for hosting me, my friend, and baby in the cafe!! :) Can't wait to come again (aside from buying at local gourmet grocers i.e. Pemberton Farms, Russo's). Also, Greek/Turkish olive oil in their cooking!

Unfortunately, my first experience did not reflect the many positive reviews. When I walked in, the first thing I was asked was "pickup?" I politely said no, that I wanted to place an order. I had to repeat myself several times, and the older woman at the counter either seemed frustrated, distracted, or maybe just having a rough day. There was little direction given to a first-time customer, and I found myself awkwardly trying to figure out where the menu board was and how the ordering process worked. Eventually, I stepped aside to look over the menu. The older woman continued helping the customers in front of me, which was completely understandable. What confused me was that the younger employee made eye contact with me, nodded toward me as if acknowledging I needed help, then asked if anyone had helped me yet. I explained that the other employee was probably about to, but needed a moment. Before I could even finish, she cut me off and said, "Oh, she can help you then," and immediately went back to scrolling on her phone while I continued standing there waiting. That was the disappointing part for me. If you ask who's next at the register, acknowledge someone is waiting, and another employee is already busy helping others, it creates a poor first impression when the available employee chooses not to assist and instead goes back to their phone. It came across as a lack of urgency and customer service. Maybe it was just an off day. I'm not writing this to attack the business because the food may very well be excellent, and clearly many people love this place. But first impressions matter, especially for new customers walking in excited to try your establishment for the first time. I truly hope the service experience improves because I wanted to like this place a lot more than I did today.

Roksana's Persian Food Saved Our Graduation Celebration…read more I cannot thank Roksana's Persian Food enough. After another restaurant (Caspian Persian Cuisine) unexpectedly cancelled our graduation event catering at the last minute, we were left scrambling just hours before a gathering of 40 people. It was a stressful situation, and we honestly weren't sure how we were going to pull it off. Then we found Roksana's. Despite the extremely short notice, they immediately understood the urgency, stepped up, and delivered. The entire order was prepared on time, complete, and exactly what we needed. They even threw in a few extras, which was an incredibly thoughtful gesture during an already chaotic day. And the food? Absolutely incredible! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our guests loved it, and several people asked where the food came from. What could have been a disaster turned into a memorable celebration thanks to their professionalism, generosity, and outstanding food. It's easy to provide good service when everything goes according to plan. It's much harder to rise to the occasion when someone needs help at the last minute. Roksana's did exactly that. We are immensely appreciative and grateful. They didn't just cater our event. They saved it. Highly recommended, and we will absolutely be back.

The koobideh was more eggy than it was beefy. It almost felt like that there was barely any beef in the koobideh. The second time we also had beef soltany, to give another item a try. This item was alright. You could taste the pomegranate molasses in the soltany. While the flavor was pleasant, I was expecting more char from the kebab (especially from the sugars in the pomegranate molasses) and for the meat to be more tender, after the staff hyped up this particular item. I also don't think that the price of $29 for this item was justified.

I would recommend calling beforehand to ask about the wait. Although we commuted from Cambridge, this meal was worth it. For two people, we got: - Black Seed Cornbread: it's soft, sweet yet savory. I've never had cornbread like this, and the first bite into this was unforgettable. You must get this. - Honey Nut Hummus: this was honestly fine and I'd probably try a different dip next time. - Warm Gyro bread: well seasoned and great to share between two. I normally don't like gyro but I enjoyed this. - Lamb al pastor: this was a favorite. It was sweet and the lamb was tender. We were really impressed with the sauce. - Brussel sprout bravas: this was okay. I liked the crunchy nuts and the star of this dish was once again the sauce/seasoning rather than the brussel sprouts. With all of these dishes, we ordered enough for two, with a few bites leftover. If you have a smaller appetite, you could get away with ordering a plate less. Overall, I loved the dining experience here. Even though I'm not typically a small plates mediterranean person, I appreciated Sarma - from its beautiful interior space and open kitchen concept, to the liveliness of the restaurant on a random weekday night. Reservations were already fully booked for the next month out, so we decided to take our chance and see if we could get bar seating around opening time. It was already pretty packed 10 minutes after opening, and the host told us that bar seating would open up in about an hour, but we would have to wait at the restaurant. Meanwhile, the wait for a table would be almost 2 hours, but we would be notified when our table is ready so we put ourselves down on the table waitlist and went elsewhere in the mean time. We came back after 2 hours, and the table was ready exactly then! I ordered some sort of Mango Mocktail and then my friend and I shared the Black Sea Cornbread and Roasted Sunchokes. Food is very unique with creative twists on all their dishes. The cornbread was delicious - it basically melted in my mouth and I liked how it actually had a kick to it. Very tasty, but just a tad bit salty. I have never had Sunchokes before but they were delicious! Very colorful presentation. A lot of the sauce was at the bottom so it could have been mixed more evenly. Mango mocktail was sweet and refreshing! Overall, Sarma has great, flavorful food and plenty of vegetarian options.
