So worth the wait! We enjoy dining in for dinner at this nice farm to table restaurant! It's a nice and cozy restaurant tucked in the Arlington heights plaza. It is always busy on Friday and Saturday nights but each time we have walked in we are lucky to find a table. It's an order at the counter type of place but you pay after you're meal. They bring you you're food and then you pay when you leave. I really like that they get their produce from local farms and that they have a rotating specials menu. We are always excited to see what's new on their menu. I really love their pizzas! They are so flavorful and they always create a new pizza special. This night they had mozzarella blue cheese pizza which was very tasty! And they had a corn ravioli which had squash and tons of veggies! When it's a busy night it does take a little longer than an ordinary restaurant in terms of wait time but it's so worth it once you get your food! We stopped into Neighborhood Prep Kitchen for dinner on a Monday night after driving past here dozens of times and saying we should try it out someday. We were really impressed, and it seemed to be a very popular spot! We ordered a pizza and the chicken parm to share and both were delicious. The pizza had that perfect wood-fired crust: crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and super flavorful. The sauce tasted fresh and the dollops of ricotta on top were a nice touch. The chicken parm was hearty and comforting, perfectly breaded with melty cheese and a really good red sauce. The space itself feels cozy and laid-back, and the staff was friendly without rushing us. Hidden gem in Arlington Heights! Their menu is full creative pizzas, pastas, salads and dinner plates. Most dishes are influenced by what's in season from their local farm purveyors. They have a wide array of drinks - specialty sodas, sparkling teas, and a solid beer and wine selection. We tried the brussel sprouts, apple cheddar pizza, mushroom delicata squash pizza, and their signature chicken sandwich. Everything was thoughtfully prepared with high quality ingredients and unique flavors. Brussels were a touch on extra crispy side but tasty. My fav was the apple cheddar pizza and the chicken sandwich (which is huge btw). The pizza's sourdough crust had a nice crunch and chew - thin and strong, held the toppings well. The cheddar was melty, a bit sweet and nutty, and went nicely with the apples. The chicken cutlet on the sandwich was juicy, complimented by the sweetness of the tomato jam, and balanced by the pepper mayo and pickles. The service was welcoming and friendly, and the ambiance is casual, homey and unpretentious. It was very easy to grab a seat, enjoy the meal, and chat with my friends. It looks like they also have a pretty cool take out business with prepared family suppers like chicken parm. I will be back to see what's new on their menu and try more things! read more

First of all, the owners could not be nicer. Second of all the food is incredible. Now I will get into my story. Tonight our family had planned to go to a restaurant, but found out it was closed so I remembered that I had been wanting to try out this scratch food spot in the Heights. We piled the kids in the car plus one friend and arrived at the restaurant around 7pm. Literally no tables were full, but we didn't let that scare us because we know this restaurant does a good takeout business. We were told when we got to the counter we were told that we could choose a table, check out the menu, order at the counter, and they would serve us our food. I had already checked out the menu at home so it was easy to order. My daughter got butter noodles. My husband got the Friday night special pizza, we got a house salad with incredibly light ranch dressing. I ordered mushroom and spinach tagliatelle. The boys ordered tagliatelle, one with meatballs and one with a side of chicken breast. We also got the duck fat fries. I am really sad I did not take a photo of the house salad because it was absolutely gorgeous, but it was devoured so quickly I did not have a chance! We all enjoyed our meals. We were really impressed by the high-quality ingredients and the friendly service. The interior is not fancy or high end, but when we are taking tweens out for dinner, that is not what we are looking for. They post each day's menu...tonight I saw a sweet potato gnocchi, a short rib gnocchi, a beet salad, and apple and carrot salad among other things. Nice curated wine list...microbrews. I went with a blackberry/rosemary soda, a house salad with awes9me greens, daikon, carrots and a great buttermilk dressing, garlic knots, and I had a tomato pie w garlic confit and chicken, they also have really good pizzas.....I think it's a sourdough crust. The owners are really really nice guys.....I asked for a couple of dietary accommodations and it was no problem at all. The had a young guy on the front end who they had trained well... he stopped by our table two or three times to make sure things were great.....not in an obtrusive way either...just super helpful. I had the most delicious panini I've ever had: prosciutto and burrata with tomato jam and pesto on house made focaccia. My friends shared the OG mushroom pizza with a side of broccolini. I could seriously eat here several nights a week. Everything is made from scratch, and the menu changes often. And the service was friendly and attentive. Three times now they have forgotten something from my order. When I call, they say that there is nothing they can do. If I was running a business like this, I would bend over backwards to satisfy my customer. All I got was, "sorry, we'll give you a refund". Thins is not a one off incident. It happens over and over. We used Prep Kitchen for a dinner party for 10 last weekend. We did this as a takeout, ordering the salad and main meal from the restaurant, and we provided our own apps and desserts. The salad (pear, arugula, hazelnut, gorgonzola, champagne dressing) and main meal (short rib, mashed, roasted root vegetables) were absolutely delicious. Most importantly, it was such a low stress way to host a group of friends on a weekend night and was much more fun and cost effective than dining out at a restaurant with a big group. What a gem! We were looking for some pizza and happened to find this place. Don't be fooled by the unassuming storefront. The pizza was excellent -- sauce was tasty and the crust was just awesome (thin, slightly crunchy and soft). We also had the tomato soup (with some focaccia bread), which was also really well done. BTW, they had a nice selection of beers (including some local ones) and even some interesting sodas and other drinks. To top it off, the guys serving and cooking were super friendly. Just had our first takeout dinner from this neighborhood gem. We heard about the place on the Arlington List, a local FB group that often reviews local restaurants. I had a mushroom, pea and scallion tagliatelle entree, my husband had a sausage, sweet corn and ricotta pizza. Both our choices were perfect, fresh, great flavor combos and hefty portions. Went here the first time several weeks ago, and have gotten takeout and dined in several times since. NICEST staff, especially accommodating of a toddler. They always make us feel so welcome. The food is incredible - locally sourced ingredients, made with a great deal of love. PNK serves great pizzas - the crust has a truly superior depth of flavor and texture. The salads are also excellent. I really appreciate the inclusive pricing of these dishes because, frankly, their quality clearly exceeds their price point. I can't recommend the sandwiches as highly - they're huge, but the bread is too big and firm and doesn't suit the sandwich. This is probably my favorite spot in Arlington now. The food is great, fresh, feels healthy. The slight issue here is the pricing. If the price was even 10% better we would eat here 2x-3xmore than we do now. $40 for 1 pizza and a pretty small salad with tip, just can't do it that much. Hopefully the managers see the benefit of a slight adjustment.
