When you encounter a big rodent problem in Austin, you need a specialist right away. That's what happened to us. We smelled some new awful smell in our living room -- and we tried to find its source, but couldn't. We suspected it might be a dead rodent, so we agreed immediately -- get an expert opinion. We called around, and we chose "Magic Pest and Lawn," because they alone offered to come that day. When Brent the technician arrived, he wore a mask and he respected social distancing. He was kind and polite as he introduced himself and met us. Then he was all business, and he walked around the whole house looking for holes and flaws. He found a bunch, but he also found the source of that awful smell -- a dead possum underneath the house. Possibly it went there to get out of the rain -- and then got sick, and didn't make it. Anyway, the smell was even worse closer to the dead animal, so Brent got a gas-mask, and heavy gloves, and used a crowbar to pull the critter out, and triple-stuff it into three garbage bags. Quick as you please. Then Brent walked us around our house to show us other holes and flaws that we should handle right away. That awful smell was gone. Brent did a great job. I had used Magic Pest and Lawn when I managed a investment focused property management company in austin, the company still uses and recommends them. They took care of everything from spraying between tenants, bed bugs when tenants traveled and brought them back, raccoon families in attics, and German roaches in newly purchased investor properties. They guarantee the work they do because they stand behind their products, and service. I now use them in my new construction home in Kyle and am highly recommending them to my whole neighborhood! I had carpenter ants coming in through gaps in caulking and taking over my 3rd day of moving in. They killed all the ant beds and I no longer see ear wigs or other insects inside. There was actually a dead black widow outside my back door the day after they sprayed!! I am so glad I called them when I did, she would have been a "toy" to my unsuspecting kitty cat if she got inside. They are also very environmentally and pet conscious. Stone-Cold Stephen Austin (that's what we call him at our house), has done a great job each time he's come out. I use Magic Pest for termite and bug control, and I've seen a huge reduction in the bugs around the house. Magic Pest always sends Stephen to Chokeslam all the pests at my home when I call and schedule, and that's really great because it's nice to know that the same person will be coming out, and not a new stranger every time. Stephen always takes the time to make sure that he thoroughly sprays everything, and Tombstone Piledrivers the areas that need some extra attention, just to be sure. He always gives me good pointers for how to keep the bugs at bay and never judges my poor form. Stephen is great with dogs and never Andre Slams my yappy chihuahua terrier, Pepe Bueno, even when Pepe is being a total b-hole. These guys are great! Super speedy responses to email, text message confirmation of appointments, and the tech, Brent, gave me a call when he was 20 minutes away (and he was actually 20 minutes away, very prompt). When he got there and saw how HUGE these hornets nests I had were, I thought for sure he was going to tell me that they would have to charge more than I was quoted. But nope! I got extremely friendly, over the top service from Brent for exactly the price I was quoted. I mean, the guy went above and beyond. He got on my roof and really made sure that these hornets would not be a problem for me anymore - not only that but the dude was hilarious and down to earth. We had hornets appearing in our kitchen for about a week. At first one a day, increasingly more until the weekend when we were swatting 10 to 15 each day. We searched our kitchen for holes but never found any.. We called Magic Pest again because they successfully removed a dead possum wedged out of sight under our porch smelling up our house. Today Brent checked our attic and reported no hives there, so walked around the looking for holes in the walls and foundation while spraying hornet poison. He found a small crack where the hornets were entering and sprayed that too. He recommended filling the crack with foam in about a week as by then, the hornets would be dead. This review is a week late and I apologize for that. I found ants in my new home and they were everywhere! Beds, kitchen, bathrooms and my initial attempts with ant killer sprays did nothing. They just seemed to appear in a new place every time. Called Magic Pests, it was super easy to set up an appointment. On the D day Stephen came right on time, he is was super courteous in explaining everything and patient in answering all my questions. He did the sprays for outside perimeter and inside, applied a gel thingy on various spots that I said the ants are most seen, sprinkled granules allover the yard and also applied a spray to additionally keep away other Pests as roaches,.spiders. This was my first time having to hire an exterminator for a rat problem. Thank goodness I read the reviews here & called Magic Pest & Lawn. Actually I made a few calls, but Neal was the first one to call back, which shows initiative, so we hired him to help us out. Aside from being a super friendly & down to earth guy, Neal is also knowledgeable, extremely competent, & budget friendly. It took a little longer than normal to get rid of the problem, but he was there for us every step of the way. He responded to my frantic phone calls & texts in timely manner. And he was patient with my super freaked out reaction to the rats I saw. Thank goodness that is a distant memory.... All in all, I highly recommend this company. I'd been needing to call a lawn service to deal with the weeds and in fact, had called other services - only to leave messages that never got returned. We have been so impressed by our experience with Magic Pest and Lawn. We reached out to them after hours via email and received a response immediately scheduling a treatment of our lawn for just a few days later. Unfortunately due to the severe rains the treatment the first time did not quite do the trick, and so they came out again and did a complimentary retreat. I was trying to get ahead of the pest rush that comes with warmer temperatures and I was researching companies in my area. I have used larger providers in Austin but the scheduling and general communication was a nightmare. From my first interaction by email with the owner I was pleasantly surprise. Justin was very safe, professional, helpful, and a great communicator. He texted before his arrival and was even able to come a little earlier than scheduled to get started eradicating our ant hills! Steve Kennedy showed up on time and was very helpful. I called about a rat problem. He gave me options to address the problem. As it turns out, we both decided that the invading rat had more than likely left the premises. He helped me to clean up so that I could monitor the area if the invader returned. Steve helped to put me at ease and did not try and sell me things I did not need. I was very satisfied and will call them for any future issues that should arise. I really appreciate how responsive Magic Pest and Lawn is to my emails and texts. They do a fantastic job at following up with us. The employees who come to do our quarterly sprayings and spot treatments are always so personable, easy to converse with, and sometimes even educate us on some random, but useful fun facts and tips regarding pests and pest prevention. Our most recent encounter was with Justin, who was able to come even earlier than our set appointment time to do a touch up spray as well as spot treat our Springtail insect issue. Magic Pest and Lawn is Fantastic! Brent is great and very knowledgeable. He came out to do weed and grub control. He took the time to look at my lawn and discuss it with me. In the end he determined that I probably don't have a grub problem. My issue is most likely due to my sprinkler not hitting a section of the yard. I really appreciated that he erred on the side of doing the right thing instead of just charging me for a service I did not need. This shows me that Magic Pest and Lawn is an honest a fair company.
