Loveeeee this place! So much fun, great place to just hangout! The have different themed dining areas like the love room, world room, school bus etc. The salad bar is on a car, pretty neat! The waiters/waitresses dress up in costumes and the service is extremely amazing! They all play their characters very well. The last couple times I had Joe Dirt, Spider-Man, Merida from the movie Brave. Overall, just a great place to come with a large group of people. They don't take reservations on the weekends, and the wait time can be as long as two hours, so just try to call ahead, and see if they can get your name on the list. During dinner they also have a guy walking around who will blow up any balloon animal you want! Upstairs, they have a magic show and a fortune teller. Highly recommend checking it out! read more

My boyfriend and I come here every time we come to Dallas! It's a fun experience even if there are no children in your party. The wait rarely exceeds 10 minutes and is well worth 20! The food is good and the magic potions are so fun. The employees get very into character which makes it a fun experience. It gets 4 stars for my visit because the costumes seemed kind of half-effort (the first time they were so extreme!) The first time we had Spider-Man, and this time it was Dwight from the office which seemed weird for a kid-based audience but was very funny for us as adults. Average Sorcery We went to The Magic Time Machine after a friend recommended the place. The decor was cool. I will give credit where it's due. The menu choices and the food itself left a lot to be desired. I had to laugh at one of the menu options, the "Roman Orgy." For a restaurant which is a prime attraction for families, I got a chuckle wondering how many kids had asked their parents, "Mom, what's an orgy?" My wife and I were placed in the Christmas room. I would have preferred the giant box of crayons, or perhaps the lunar landing module, but the Christmas room was okay. Our server was - I believe - Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She was very polite, but failed to call the utensils whatchamacallits or thingamabobs. I won't hold that against her, because seriously, she did well as our server. I also don't blame her for not suddenly growing a tail, because - you know - she's not really a mermaid. I got a pasta, and my wife got chicken parmesan. Both dishes were very average. There really isn't much to say about the food other than I wish we hadn't spent half an hour driving to get there in traffic for the same food that we could have had at any other generic restaurant. At a restaurant with such a cool environment, I expected a much wilder menu, or at least a new twist on a familiar dish. If you are looking for average food in a funky environment, then go for it. I went to the Magic Time Machine once several years ago. I remember thinking it was kinda cool and I do not remember disliking anything. Today, we decided to take our 3 year old there for lunch. Our visit was a severe disappointment. When we walked in, they ushered us to a table on the side of the restaurant where we couldn't see any of the other themes. Our waitress was supposed to be Merida. She had a wig and attempted to speak to us in a Scottish accent, but she wore a T-shirt and shorts. All the other servers were in full costume. My husband had no idea who she was supposed to be until I pulled up images of the character on Google to show him. She was nice enough, but we had to ask for drink refills. The food was literally the worst restaurant food I've ever had. My husband ordered the half and half and I ordered the fried shrimp and catfish. We ordered chicken strips and fries for our son. None of us could manage to eat more than a few bites. The shrimp were ok. Not great but I managed to eat a few of them. The cocktail sauce tasted like soap. The catfish was completely inedible. The fries were soggy and incredibly disappointing. I didn't try any of my husband's food but he barely touched it. Our son's chicken strips were like rubber. In the end we paid $60 for food we couldn't eat. I highly doubt that we will be back. The restaurant itself is outdated and in desperate need of a deep cleaning. In a nutshell: if you have a child under the age of 10 they will love this place. Anybody over the age of ten realizes that this place is not all fantastic, but hey I take my kids to Six Flags and I can't stand that place either. First impression is that it smells like Grandma's house when you walk in the door. If you can get past the lobby smell you might be able to make it through dinner. Our waitress was Dorothy and she was fabulous she actually enjoyed. or at least acted like she enjoyed, her job. They hook your children up with a cool little autograph book so that you can go around and have an "adventure" getting all the characters autographs. They had pretty strong fans blowing because it was really hot. I had heard that the food was not all that great so I went in with low expectations. We ordered the appetizer of squid or what they call "Squidward". It was actually pretty decent. I'm not a huge fan of calamari but so the rest of the table was so I tried it and it wasn't sure which is a plus in my book in the flavor was good. My husband ordered the grilled chicken and vegetables, he rather enjoyed it. I ordered the fiesta chicken and was told that I had a mango salsa on top I gotta zero mango it wS just pico. It was on a rice pilaf which was good but Iit had cheese elted on it and the cheese kind of ruined it for me. The tortilla strips that we're on top of the whole thing ended up soggy. The kids have the usual chicken strips and fries and I mean what can you do to chicken strips and Fries they like them. The bubbling drinks are cool because the kids thought that they were like an adult drink. I like the fact that everything comes with a salad bar included. Will probably go back because the kids really enjoyed it. Maybe we'll just go back for dessert sometime but dinner wasn't absolutely horrible just not anything I would want to write home about (but I'll write Yelp about it.) Our server was Ariel, and she was great, once she came to the table!!! The kids had fun, and they enjoyed looking around and the magic show. The food was terrible. The salad bar was ok, but they need to add bacon and cheese. My husband's steak for $39 was the worst he's ever had. The pork loin was aweful and very dry, and my salmon was full of bones. I expected more for $22. They were nice enough to take my meal off the check. The kids loved the potion drinks and chicken tenders. The food is extremely over priced, and I don't appreciate the very large tip that is automatically added. It was fun to try but probably won't go back. We visited for a company dinner with ~10 people on a Tuesday night. I guess it's a kid-oriented place but they try to give it an adult slant with the alcohol service, "roman orgy" menu item, etc. That said, this adult would probably not come here again. Problems my group experienced: 1) Chairs in waiting area are old, musty and smelly. 2) Restaurant was freezing cold. We had to ask multiple times for a manager to turn it down. 3) Tables are randomly terrible: original one was a broken old kitchen table with a sagging end. 4) No water brought until mid-way through the meal, and by request only. 5) Cheese sticks are out of a box. 6) Food in general was not great. This was comically bad. Our server Captain Jack was the only redeeming quality of this place. If you have young children, consider this as an experience for them and them alone. The only restaurant whose menu is totally gluten free. This restaurant is entertaining for both kids and adults. The wait staff dresses up in a variety of Disney characters. The menu is aimed off of their theme. If you do not go during a weekday in the middle of the day, good luck getting in. The wait can get long. Is it entertaining? Yes. Will you have a good time? Yes. However, it never really seems clean to me. I do like eating there because it seems cluttered and too dim to determine if the place is clean. This may be my OCD talking, so please forgive me. We have 5 year old twins. It's funny to see their reactions when experiencing new things. They were in for a treat at magic time machine. One would think a place called Magic Time Machine with waiters dressing up in costumes would be light and bright. However, it wasn't. It was dark, gloomy, and depressing. We waited 45 minutes for a table and I almost fell asleep. The music didn't help either. We got escorted to our table which was a hut. I was expecting Disney princesses or spider man, but we got Captain Jack Sparrow. This place would have gotten 5 stars if it was Johnny Depp ;). My kids, however, have not seen the Pirates of the Carribean and didn't know who he was. They just stared at this guy with the Jack Sparrow accent all wide eyed. Every time he would come by they would inch closer to Dad..lol The food. I thought I just got the wrong thing, but by the looks of the reviews it wasn't just me. I've been coming to this establishment for many years, never for the food which is sub par, especially for the price but the service has consistently gone downhill over the years. Such a shame being its unique ambiance and experience. Hopefully or last child that is on its way, may get to experience the MTM at least once with the great experience that I remember. So happy we gave this place a second chance to show us who they really were! Amazing is a HUGE understatement! Bender, the balloon man, even impressed my teenager!!! Eric, the manager, prides himself on customer service and he should because he treated my family like his! He even impersonated gru from the minions! I wish I could separate my stars on this review for entertainment and food. My kids had a blast and loved the characters, unfortunately the food was almost inedible, so that changed the stars. MTM was a Thursday evening event with the grandparents and kids, so we were a large party of 8. I hadn't been to MTM in 15 or so years, and thought we'd try as we were only in DFW visiting for a few days. Front staff were great, got us seated immediately (abeit at a table too small for our group, but we were excited), joked with the kids, etc. Our Waiter was okay, but he was already in the weeds when we got there at 6pm, so service was very slow. The kids loved running around and getting autographs and most of the characters had a ton of patience while trying to service tables and stopping for autographs. This made me rethink our slow server, so just anticipate a longer time for food service. The food was pretty terrible. I order the grilled Salmon and vegetables and it was the worst, unedible. Other dishes ordered we're the pork chops, which were drier than sawdust, grilled chicken and fettuccine. The fettuccine was by far the best item at the table. So, I've learned that the characters were great and the kids loved MTM, but we'll probably only stop in for a dessert in the future. read more

What an amazing dinner experience! Unique atmosphere, energetic and entertaining staff, and the food was really good. My family of four (exhausted from Six Flags all day) got seated in a neat little secluded booth ('Rome') and our server was spot on in the character of Napoleon Dynamite. This was our first time ever dining here, but I feel like I can say with some credibility that he was the best in the restaurant! What a memorable dinner to cap off our trip. Nacho Libre was our waiter and he sang the perfect song (accompanied with a guitar) for my 14 yr old twins birthday. They have balloon animals and character drawings. They also come around to take pictures while you are sitting in the booths and you can choose to purchase for $10 which we did for memories! Pros: The manager was AMAZING! When he came to check on us before leaving, my daughter was discussing how she wanted another magic potion but she didn't want to spend her money. We came into the one in San Antonio yesterday and we got the "mine craft guy" whom I'm not familiar with. Our neighbor got Shaggy" and I know who he is! I'm a baby boomer and I grew up with Shaggy and Velma and Scooby. We got a really good show from Shaggy because he danced and sang a weird Al song "eat it Eat it, open up your mouth and feed it"! Anyway it was close to my grand girls Birthday; so mine craft brought out a plate of cookies with frosting piped onto the plate "summer smells"! I need to start off by saying the ONLY reason this place gets even a 3 star is due to how bangin' the spinach artichoke dip was. Came here this past friday night for a coworkers birthday- we only used the bar section. Parking around 9pm was not horrible, I found a spot in the back pretty easily. My biggest issue with this place was the indoor smoking. I thought it was illegal to smoke indoors? Must be only some places. But it was engulfing me from all sides- I could not escape it as soon as I walked up the stairs. The musty smell of the 70's also took over. The drinks and food were very reasonably priced- and tasted great. I was disappointed that the bartender who took my food order, and brought out a ton of other food to the table forgot to bring out my food. After 35 minutes I had to go up and ask. She said she would check and viola there it was- obviously it was forgotten. The gentleman bartender was kind of rude and obviously did not know how to make a drink to save his life. I would also like to add that not even one chair matched- all different weird hippyish fabrics- which is cool. Very divey- the downstairs was different. Called two days prior to book a reservation they informed me you have to have a party of 50 or more for reservations. Our party was of 8. Two days later After arriving it took about 2 hours to finally get seated Once we sat down waiter took our drinks left came back and we didn't get our food until a little over one hour later. I moved to Dallas from Los Angeles and I'm still exploring, stumbled upon this magical place today. The 1-3 star reviewers are spoiled and rude, this place is for KIDS. Do you complain about the food at Chuck E Cheese? McDonalds? It's a given that it's not gourmet, you go for the experience, the entertainment and because it makes your kids happy. And speaking of happy kids, I don't think I've ever seen my 4 year old laugh so much!! If you've read any of my other reviews you'll know I don't throw praise loosely, THIS ENTIRE STAFF IS SPECTACULAR! They're friendly, hilarious and they work really hard.
