What a terrible experience. The food is way overpriced for what you get, the service is lousy. They offered us sides for our dinner but neglected to tell us that the ones we chose were extra cost. To top it all off, they have the audacity to add an 18% tip to any meal over $50. While that as listed on their menu (which you have to read on your phone because they don't have paper menus), it's in such small print that it is illegible... unless you zoom in, at which point it is hardly legible because of the low resolution. Of course they add a tip for themselves... with cruddy service like they offered it's the only way they will get a tip! When I complained to a different waitress (because our waiter disappeared and was never seen again) she told me that if we complain then the manager would remove it. He came over, gave us excuses for the waiter (I told him to take his break because he had been working nonstop since morning) and he looked at the payment machine but did not remove the tip. I ended up just paying it because after seven minutes of his excuses and inactivity I was fed up, and will dispute the charge on my credit card. Managers should make things right, not excuses. In a restaurant where there are absolutely no other customers it is inexcusable to have lousy service. When I asked him for a business card he said there wasn't one. Oh... and they insist on a physical credit card, because (fill in his next feeble excuse) he told me if I didn't have my card then I could pay him to his personal Cash App account. I will never go back, and I will tell everyone I know to never go there. I am new to the area and could have been a repeat customer... NEVER AGAIN. read more

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this establishment. My party of 2 walked in on a Saturday right at opening and were the only guests throughout our visit. There's bar, booth, and table seating along with a slightly more private area with their own TV that's somewhat obscured by a hanging bead doorway. It took over 45 minutes for us to get our main courses, and around 20 to get the appetizer (which was the spinach dip -- that was delicious, but we were left with a lot of chips after the dip finished). I ordered the crab cakes and "fried corn" side, thinking they'd be more like corn ribs or the wingstop fried corn. It was just corn kernels!! I saw they had "corn ribs" at another location, so I assumed my corn would be in cob form. I ate about half of that before I decided to stop forcing myself. I tried the seafood grits and those were good, but for $31 it came with 3 shrimp and a little pile of other seafood. The seafood grits are served in a martini glass and it was mostly just grits. I wasn't a fan of the presentation or the proportions. The employees were okay ... we should have known something was up when we saw them ordering uber eats and receiving their food sooner than we received ours. We saw one employee frequently leaving to answer her cell phone and hit her vape. Slow service to say the least. To top it off, the 4 items ordered somehow came out to $90+. I was overcharged for low effort food and poor service. I hate to leave a negative review, but my experience was not one to speak positively about. read more

It's been awhile and I wanted some delicious mimosas. For brunch they always offer unique flavors. The tropical mimosa was AMAZING. It looked like a tequila sunrise. The food is still good, but they always want to forget my strawberries on my strawberry waffle. The chicken was piping hot and well seasoned. Now my bacon was overcooked and I could have sent it back. I like crispy, but NOT burnt. Luckily I was starving and it went well with my waffle. Next time though it's going back. Service was good no complaints. The staff is always friendly. The ambiance is still a fun vibe with great music. I have to knock off a star for the burnt bacon and missing strawberries. Also the booth was dirty and the cleaning needs some improvement. You just opened and it was full of hair and crumbs. This was disgusting and a slight turnoff. This place has been on my list to check out for a bit now and within the past month I was able to experience what they have to offer. I met friends here for Sunday brunch and based on the pics and reviews I've seen, I was truly expecting this to be closer to a high end restaurant. Upon arriving, I quickly realized this is more of a lounge type restaurant and while a little disappointed, I did not let that ruin my experience. The space is nicely laid out, consisting of several booths along with quite a few table/chair combos. There is a bar area which is located just to the right side of the entrance. The Sunday I was there, they had a DJ playing music which I assume to be their norm for brunch. Thankfully, the music was just loud enough that it was still easy to conduct conversations at the table. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming. The server for our table was very knowledgeable of the menu and made several recommendations that worked out well. For my entree, I was stuck between 3 items: Catfish & Grits, Chicken & Sweet Potato Waffle, and the Nouveau Honey Butter Biscuit. Based on input from the server, I ended up going with the Nouveau Honey Butter Biscuit and it did not disappoint. The chicken was well-seasoned and perfectly fried. While the biscuit could have used a bit more honey, it worked well with the chicken. For my beverage, I went with their Mimosa Madness which is advertised as $5 per glass. I started with the watermelon lime flavored mimosa. It was refreshing but didn't hit the mark so for my second, I opted to switch to a traditional orange juice mimosa. Thankfully, the server informed me that this option is excluded from the $5 deal which is when I learned only the seasonal flavors are included in the $5 deal. Overall, I enjoyed my visit at Nouveau Noir. Excellent service, delicious foods and a great ambiance. I will definitely return to try more things on the menu. read more

Our favorite dish was definitely the deviled eggs and they are probably the best of any restaurant in Dallas. I meet friends for Sunday Funday at Nouveau Noir. Upon arriving, I saw many people outside entering and leaving the restaurant. It looked like one of the spots to be on Sunday. I arrived around 1pm. There was a nice crowd. The music and ambiance were nice. After arriving my friends got a really nice booth and our waitress was really nice and giving many suggestions on food a drinks. I decided to go with the denim and diamonds cocktail after our waitress suggested it. I didn't go wrong. The drink was strong and very tasty. I decided to get the fried chicken wings for my meal. I came for the first time with family. The review of most is 3.5-4/5. The strawberry waffles were a good amongst the group. The sweet potato waffle was okay but this is depending on your preference( if you like nutmeg or all spice you'll like it). The chicken wings with the chicken and waffles were pretty good. The seafood grits was mostly grits and small portion of seafood; there was about 70 percent grits remaining in the meal. The DRINKS.... The Nouveau Noir was great in my opinion. The peach and sunset drink was good in my family opinion. OH we asked about the $25 bottomless mimosas, they no longer offer that. We accidentally stumbled across this place and got excited because we've tried the ATL location and loved it. It definitely gives off similar vibes and luckily the menu is almost the same. They have only been open for 2 weeks and are still working on transitioning some of the ATL menu items to Dallas. We got seated pretty quickly and had a pretty friendly waiter who offered good recommendations. I ordered the Jerk Chicken wings (3) that came with waffle fries. The wings were tender and flavorful, and the cream sauce was a nice touch. I expected the wings to be a bit bigger, but I guess that's why my plate was filled with fries. The experience was almost great until we ran into an issue with our checks. They apparently charge an "alcohol tax" in addition to standard sales taxes, which didn't make sense and couldn't be explained. On top of that, we weren't offered receipts and were told that the brick we used to tap/pay doesn't print out receipts. We chose not to make a big fuss of it, but I guess we'll have to monitor our card to make sure everything comes out right. read more

You can make reservations if you want to and maybe some days that is a better choice. Our wait wasn't long and we made a reservation within two hours of going. The lady at the door was nice and quickly sat us at a table. The music is quite loud as well. They should turn that down a bit. Whoever answered the phone had to step outside to communicate over the phone. The waiter also had trouble hearing my table and people at the table had a hard time hearing our conversations. They have drink towers and alcoholic drinks and sodas. They only serve brunch between whatever start time until like 5pm or something. The seating arrangement/table placement could be more functional in my opinion. The food pricing seems unorganized and questionable but I am not the one buying from vendors. What do i know, right? Lol. We had a chicken sandwich , wings, fries and grits and idk what else. The mimosas were sweet according to a person at the table. The eggs weren't a fave for them either. They might be liquid eggs.. chicken sandwich was good but they forgot my jalapeños. They force gratuity on the whole table no matter the size of group when the tables bill is over $50. Even if your bill is less than $50. I do not like or appreciate that when it's less than 4-6 people. Didn't see that mentioned on the QR plates on the table or on digital menu. Went here for brunch on a Saturday and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Although they aren't kid "friendly" (i.e. no high chairs available), the staff was very excited to have my 1 year daughter join us for brunch and did their best to accommodate her which I appreciate. Luckily I keep a portable high chair in my car, but it might be a good idea for them to consider investing. Now on to the ambience, it was dark with music playing (but not too loud) which I appreciated. Our server was sooooo nice and informative. I wish I got her name, but she did tell us she came from the Georgia location and was well versed in the menu, and I'll admit she didn't steer us wrong. I went on a Thursday shortly after opening. Besides myself, there were guest at one other table. The aesthetics in this place are very nice. I loved the decor. The music was good, however, it was likely at the same volume that it is when there's a crowd which made it a bit loud. The bartender provided me with the QR code in order to pull up the menu. At his recommendation, I ordered a drink called Slip n Slide. Let's just say it got me right. He did his thing with that one. I ordered the whole snapper with red beans and rice and mac & cheese for my sides. I enjoyed everything. The food came out smoking hot. The snapper was fried just right. The red beans and rice were a little spicy, but not too much. They were well seasoned. I took a chance on the mac & cheese because I'm usually disappointed. Not this time. It was good. We had an overall excellent experience here--the service, food, and atmosphere were truly unparalleled. Our group was large, and even though we had reservations and there was a bit of a wait to be seated, the staff handled everything impressively well. There were several other large parties at the same time, yet the team remained attentive, organized, and friendly throughout the meal. The only disappointing moment came at the very end. After paying our bill, we were told, "No rush, but we have other reservations waiting." While likely well-intentioned, the phrasing felt rushed and unwelcoming after what had otherwise been a fantastic visit. We were already getting ready to leave, but the wording left a sour note on an exceptional evening. I'd recommend a bit of staff training or alternative phrasing in the future--something like checking if we need anything else or naturally beginning to tidy up. A small shift in communication would prevent an otherwise great experience from ending on the wrong foot. Went to this place on Sunday for brunch. 4 of us. Arrived when they opened. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Ordered 2 appetizers. Crab cakes and 2 biscuits. Crab cakes were ok. Biscuits were tasty, not worth $6 for one medium size biscuit. And served with margarine. The pancakes only came as a stack. My husband wanted a full breakfast to accompany the pancakes, but was told he had to order all of his items as a side, the eggs, chicken sausage, and potatoes all had to be ordered a la carte. His meal wound up being $25. There appeared to be only one egg in a small cup, it was $6! The cheese was a $1 extra! The potatoes were small in a cup for $6. 2 chicken sausage $6. The restaurant had only been open about 15 minutes and our server told us she's have to wait to see if they had chicken sausage in the kitchen. First red flag. My son ordered strawberry lemonade for $6 and asked if there were free refills, we knew the answer would be no, but just wanted to make sure. Of course we were right. I reminded my son that we were not at The Cheesecake Factory. I wish we were because the 4 of us could've ate those delicious pancakes they serve as a combo meal with meat, and eggs for half the price, but I wanted to patronize a black own business. I ordered wings and waffle fries. Wings looked good, but had zero seasoning. The waffle fries were overcooked, too hard. The other 2 in our party ordered chicken and waffles. Chicken was fried perfectly, but again it was unseasoned. The waffles were mid and served with thick brown colored corn syrup. What's wrong with serving real butter and real maple syrup if you're going to charge high end prices for breakfast items? The prices are too high for the quality you get. The alcoholic drinks are double than what you would normally pay. For dessert we ordered a slice of cake thinking it would be a good size for the 4 of us to share since it was $12. Whew, boy were we wrong! That slice of their Hennessy cake was barely enough for 1 person! It had a good flavor though, on the cold side. I really wanted to like this place, but the high prices for mediocre breakfast food and chicken are not worth a second trip. Too many better choices in the metro area for far less money. Besides the 4 of us, there was only one other table of people in the place. Our bill came to $181 w/o tip. Definitely not worth it. Could've ate at a high end steakhouse for that price. read more
