Would not recommend. I normally don't post reviews but want to save someone else the heartache. My mother was an expert tailor, trained abroad, so I know and understand the precision of tailoring. Krystina isn't precise by any means. She's made many mistakes on my garments, some of them designer pieces that cannot be returned. She took in a pair of pants for me, and the legs are now different sizes. One is 1" wider than the other. She hemmed it also and one leg is shorter than the other. Things are often uneven and ill fitting after she's altered it. She gets things wrong and she's difficult to work with as she forgets a lot. I used to just take "easy" things to her like hemming pants, because she is so reasonably priced, but I realized it's hit or miss, even with something that should be quite simple for a seamstress. The low price is not worth the headache and back and forth until it's done right. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

I was recommended to go to Krystyna's house to get a wedding gown alteration quote. For context: 1. I bought the dress as a sample dress in size 12 because it was a recently discontinued style, it was gorgeous, it was the last one, and it was marked down to $800. I am a size 4. 2. The boutique told me it could be tailored and while they didn't do in house alterations, they gave me recs for seamstresses they've worked with before and trusted. 3. I got a quote from the recommended seamstress, in Florida, where the wedding will be. The seamstress gave me a reasonable quote and seemed confident it could be done, even pinned me up in the dress to the fit I wanted. I went to Krystyna's to get a second quote to compare pricing. Krystyna's attitude from the VERY beginning of this consultation was condescending and rude. Her overall opinion was that the dress could not be altered to fit my body and that I would essentially need to buy another dress. She made comments such as "No, this won't be good. Why you buy this?" even BEFORE I tried on the dress. I had to interrupt her twice and ask if I could try on the dress and show her because I was just in shock by how mean she was towards me and my mom. She made other comments like (and kept repeating them btw), "3 layers of fabric, why you need this in Florida?" "This is no good. You must return" "You would need new dress, idk why you buy this" "I not accept this job. It's no problem for me, but it's problem for you" "How much you pay? $800??? You see, when you buy cheap it becomes expensive" Honestly, she mentioned some good points about why she didn't think alterations could be done, but she made me feel like I should've KNOWN everything she told me...As if I'm supposed to be an expert in bridal gown shopping and seamstress. She downright made me feel ugly in a dress that I felt so beautiful in. She could've used an entirely different tone and approach that would've been honest AND kind. Krystyna was not kind. She may be a good seamstress based on the reviews, but she's a bitch when it comes to customer service. UPDATE: I went to another seamstress in Aurora to get a second opinion. This woman at Wedding Studio Design has 25 years of experience as a seamstress and 15 years of experience in bridal alterations. She said that my alterations were COMPLETELY doable, said that she has seen way worse. She said that older seamstresses don't have as much experience working with appliqués and get scared when they have to work with it. So there you have it. Krystyna just sucks and was projecting her own insecurities about not knowing how to sew lol. read more

I have known Krystyna since long before she built this house and opened. When I had asked her about reviewing her on Yelp, she declined. I have to think others didn't ask. Now, I am the duchess here !! Depending on the season, i.e. weddings, proms, homecomings, you may have to wait a longer time frame for your tailored items, but job is always well done. Go to the side entrance, I can't tell you how many people ring her front doorbell. Also, the driveway is designed to handle traffic in both directions. Stay to the right and pull forward and that way you will not block anyone in. I have had to go back in to ask people to move their cars, it shouldn't be that hard. read more

Being a bit of a procrastinator, I had a bridesmaid dress that needed to be hemmed and fitted in less than two weeks. Krystyna was awesome! She was welcoming and efficient. Her price was very reasonable and the work she did was exceptional. I will be returning to her for all of my tailoring needs! As someone else noted: park in the circular driveway (on the East side of Yackley Ave.) and enter at the side door on the left side of the house. She works Wednesday & Saturday from 9-1, I would call and give her a heads up that you're coming. read more

I am so thankful for Krystyna! One of the bridesmaids of the wedding I'm in recommended this place since she got her wedding gown altered here. We all received our dresses only 2 weeks prior to the wedding day, so we needed our dressed altered pronto. Krystyna's house is beautiful, and she has a separate area for her business (entrance to the left side of the house). I had to bring my 2-year-old daughter and I was so nervous about that since some businesses get annoyed with children. Krystyna immediately got excited to see my daughter! She made sure she was comfortable and even gave her a lollipop to keep her busy while I changed and got my dress altered. I was in and out in 20 minutes which was amazing! When she told me the total, I was beyond thrilled since it was affordable. I'll only be coming here for alterations from now on! I highly recommend it! read more

I brought my Alfred Angelo Disney wedding dress (it was style Belle) to Krystyna for alterations. She took 2 inches in from the waist (even with the intricate beadwork), hemmed multiple layers of tulle, and added a beautiful 5 point bustle. Her work is stunning and her prices are more than reasonable! She works out of her home in Lisle, and her office is an attachment on the side of the house. It is almost completely separate from her home, and even has its own cute little doorbell. I'd recommend her to anyone. She also altered my rehearsal dinner dress beautifully. The next time I need to have any work done on a dress or something I cherish, I will be going back to Krystyna. read more

I used Krystyna to fix a holiday party dress for me. She is great and did wonderful work, for a reasonable cost compaired to a cleaners and fast turn around time. She works part time for Nordstrom's and part time out of her house. She has turned part of her house into her own shop with changing area, mirrors and platform like in a bridal salon. I was just there and had my wedding dress altered. All I wanted was for it to be hemmed, taken in a little on the top and for 2 loose beads to be fixed. Well the hem was great the top was taken in way too much so now i have horrible armpit fat bulging out, and the beads weren't even touched, actually more beads were missing. So if you need your dress altered don't go there. A simple hem she can do. And just to justify myself I don't have a large gown it's very very simple, not a ball gown or anything fancy just a long white dress with beading along the top. More for a beach wedding. read more
