I hate to write anything other than a four or five star review for people, but after sitting on this for nearly a week, I have to. I took my wedding dress here as I like to support small businesses when I can, and the reviews were nearly all glowing. I am a pregnant bride, and needed my dress hemmed, a bustle added, and to have the waist taken out and/or a corset done. Upon bringing my dress over and consulting, we agreed on the hemming, the type of bustle, and to have a corset put into the dress to make it so I could eat on my wedding day. I paid upfront and was told to be back a week later for my gown. It was somewhat of a rush service (I needed the dress within three weeks) but was never told this was any kind of problem. A week later, I arrived and tried on the dress. Immediately I noticed that the bodice of my brand new dress (it was new in the box when I brought it over to her, and was only tried on the day I brought it to her) was snagged all over. The fabric itself is a mesh like fabric with embroidery like detail, so I decided to give the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it was just a hard fabric to keep pristine. I tried on the dress and she laced the corset, and everything seemed suitable at the moment. The dress bustled and I could breathe in my dress. I took it off, we put it back in the bag, and I took it home. Four days later, my mother and I decided to lace up the gown and watch a few youtube videos to ensure we had it down for the actual wedding day. My mom gasped when she saw the corset out of the bag. Perhaps I'm naive and I should have inspected it better before I left, but my mother was able to notice things I didn't even think to look at when I picked up. I just trusted everything was done right. For starters, the corset and modesty panel that was added to my dress was completely the wrong color. My dress is ivory and the panel and corseting was stark white. Okay, I needed this on a short timeline. Perhaps this is what she had in stock and there was no time to order a matching Ivory colored one. But then we noticed the corset was done with cheap, thin, elastic loops. One of the loops was already fraying before we had even put the ribbon through the dress. They were clearly not sturdy enough to lace a wedding dress up, and were not the quality you'd expect on a wedding dress whatsoever. Still, we went onward, what choice did I have? That's when the unthinkable happened. We were lacing the ribbon through the loops and adjusting as we went, being careful as could be since we already could see that these loops couldn't stand any real tension, and two loops ripped right out. The dress wasn't even on me yet! We hadn't put any real tension on it at all. And they just popped right out. What if this had happened on my actual wedding day?? To say I was devastated was an understatement. I was sobbing and just couldn't even think straight. The dress cost me $600, the alterations cost me $240... and I had a dress that couldn't be worn at all! And my wedding is in two weeks. I called an actual bridal alterations shop who said they could repair the damage at $150 for a new corset insert and a $150 rush fee as I had now wasted a week and a half on my already short time frame. I also contacted Magnifique Stitches about the issue, and while she did offer to have me bring the dress back and she stated she'd put a new corset on, I decided against going back. I feel the right one should have been done the first time, and simply didn't trust going back. In the end, I luckily had a backup dress that I decided to go with instead of throwing more money at the dress that had been ruined. But I am still very upset that all in all, I paid $240 and my $600 dress was essentially rendered unusable without further alteration and expense. It was a nightmare that no bride, especially a hormonal pregnant one that already feels fat and anxiety ridden, should have to go through. I still give Magnifique Stitches one star instead of claiming they should receive zero stars - the hemming and the bustle were done adequately. But I can't in good faith recommend her service after this. I'm out over $800 and a wedding dress. read more

My then-fiance and I were having an engagement shower in October. We were told to dress as bride and groom for photos with little notice. I requested to have a white, vintage-esque dress made and was told I needed to pick out the fabrics I wanted and bring them in and when she was done, I could pay for her services. She was able to quote me over the phone with a great price. She made the dress in just over a week and it came out very nice. She was very helpful and sincere and was insistent that if I was unhappy with anything, she would fix it before I left with the dress. I tried it on and was moderately happy with the results for such short notice. There was something off about how it sat on me at the time (I wasn't quite sure what it was) and unfortunately, I lived an hour away and figured it would be more of a hassle to make a second trip. I took it to a tailor up the street from my house who gave it a quick nip-tuck and I got it back the day before the party. We felt so good about the situation that we ended up eloping before the shower! I'm very pleased with Deb's work and if I have another sewing project in mind, I wont hesitate to bring it to her. Despite all the 5 stars ratings. Unfortunately, my experience was not a pleasant as the others. I went in to have two suits altered. Sleeves on jacket shorten and trousers hemmed. Nothing major. Just a side note. I've never had a suit before this and I was excited to finalize have one or two, even though they are off the rack. After I picked them up and wore it out, that's where I noticed a lot of issues. One of the suit where the lining was too long, she just sewn the top over the lining. The buttons were sewn through the jacket into the lining which pulls on the jacket when you put it on. On one suit, the left side sleeve were coming undone. The pant was not sewn on correctly and is came undone. I am very unhappy with how everything came out. I may not know about suits, but I did my research and the jacket were not done correctly. I am totally disappointed in the job performed. It sucks that I will have to bring it somewhere else to get it fixed. If you pay someone for a service, you should be able to get what you want and how you want it. The holidays does NOT excuse a poor job done! I highly do NOT recommend! read more

I purchased a strapless prom dress for my daughter online. It needed to be taken in around the back and hip area. The dress has stones attached to the top part. I went to a couple of places to see if they would be able to fix the dress and was told no because of the rhinestones. After searching and searching I finally came across this ad 4 days before prom, when I called Debra was available and nice. I went to her right away, not only was she able to fix the dress but it was done in time for prom. She also did work to a friend of my daughters dress before their special night. I found Debra on Yelp after one other location I was considering closed and another was completely booked. I'm so glad I had to search for other options because Debra was soooo much more affordable than anywhere else! She is also super nice. I wanted to have my wedding dress altered, to include having the straps shortened, silhouette adjusted to be more fitted, and change the lining color under the lace. Other shops told me changing the lining would be extremely expensive, over $1000. Debra was able to do all my alterations for under $300. I did have to go back a few times to get the alterations just right, but it all worked out great and I saved myself a lot of money and still came out with a beautiful dress. Bring your items in early in case adjustments are needed, but she will happily fix anything you don't think is quite right so that everything is perfect! read more

I needed it taken in at the waist ( I ordered it online and it was boxy looking) and have the straps lengthened all within two days. All I can say is you are a Godsend! I needed a shirt altered and Debra helped! I talked with over 10 different alteration places and were quoted at ridiculous prices! However Debra came out of nowhere and her prices shocked me, in a good way! I took my long sleeve shirt made out of a material that was very difficult to work with and she altered a XL down to my size, a medium! The fitting of the shirt now puts this shirt in my top 3 shirts EVER! I also took a pair of ridiculously expensive jeans to her because the thread was tearing in a lot of places and she patched it up and made them wearable again! I ordered a wedding dress online. When I got it, it was a completely a different dress. I went to a few different places and no one wanted to work on it and said it was not possible to do what I wanted. I found Debra online- Magnifique Stitches. When I met with her she said she could do it no problem. The original dress was really puffy and the zipper didn't work. She made the dress more fitted, made me a belt, and put a corset instead of the zipper. The dress is so beautiful now. She did an amazing job! I found this AMAZING lady on Yelp, looking for a seamstress to make something for me for my birthday, well due to my mishaps I didn't get what I wanted made-however I found a dress in Macy's and it was a tad too big in the chest/underarm area... At 7pm I called her and asked her if she could find time to do an emergency alteration as my birthday was the next day..
