Unfortunately, my most recent order--an assorted dozen of filled cupcakes--contained a long blonde hair in the frosting. That's a serious hygiene concern and, for me, a dealbreaker. I hope the team takes this feedback seriously and reinforces proper food safety practices, including consistent use of hairnets and attention to cleanliness. My boyfriend surprised me with a Samoa flavored one, like the Girl Scout cookie, and it was very moist, flavorful, and addictive. A friend of mine is vegan and I brought a dozen vegan cupcakes from here to his birthday party and they were a hit. Everyone liked them. Great, quick, and wonderful experience! I went into this location with the idea of wanting to buy one cupcake for my wife... I left buying 4 haha They were all delicious and tasted high quality! The reason I purchase 4 was because they had a special promotion going on and I would have never known without the Server helping me out. I love, love, love Molly's Cupcakes. I've had them a few times, but I never stopped inside of a store before, and I absolutely needed a sweet treat after dinner. I tried the Cookie Monster and the Strawberry Lemonade cupcakes and both were dry and tasted old. The icing was mediocre at best and the cake itself had a strange spongy texture. The only decent one was the Strawberry Cheesecake, but even that wasn't impressive enough to make up for the others. Mollys Cupcakes seems to be all hype with small, overpriced cupcakes that don't live up to their reputation. For the price they charge, I expected much better quality and freshness. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're okay with paying premium prices for subpar cupcakes. There are much better bakeries in Chicago worth visiting instead. read more

We stopped by on a whim one evening as we walked through the city. Staff greeted us warmly even though it was approaching the time they closed. They had a large case full of multiple flavors, all with a description of what was in the cake provided. In the end we tried the Samoa cupcake as a well as a chocolate lava cake of some sort. When you first looked at these cakes I did wonder if you could possibly have each of the multitude of ingredients stand out, and Molly's succeeded. The specialty cupcakes are so good at Molly's! They all have filling on the inside (which is not just frosting) unique to each flavor. The cookie cupcake had cookie dough in the center which was so good. The sprinkles one has cake batter inside - might be my favorite one! Blueberry one was really taste too. The sweets are all displayed in glass cases, so I don't have to worry about bugs flying around. Recently, they introduced the option to create your own cupcake cake, which is really cool. During my visit, I tried the strawberry bubbles and the cake batter cupcakes, along with a doggy treat for my furry friend. I appreciated that they sell dog treats, and the person taking my order even threw in an extra one for free, which was really nice of her. The cupcakes were just SO good. And the interior design was super cute! They had cute swing seats. There was a book wall with lockers across from it on the way to the restroom. Everything here was just adorable, it was well lit and great for some cute pictures. They also had two giant stuff animals in one of the seating spaces. Now I will say this review is only for this location (granted I have never tried the other locations etc). I think the concept of l filled cupcakes is so fun, and Mollys has a variety of great flavors on rotation usually. The price I think is reasonable to other cupcake/ bakery shops in the city (though a bit pricey in general; I blame inflation and Chicago just being expensive in general ) The reason I'm giving 3 stars is for the service. We perched ourselves on the swing seats and dug in! The cupcake was a little more firm, and almost had the consistency of a soft peanut butter cookie. The buttercream on top was so fluffy and packed a lot of peanut butter flavor without it being too thick. Inside, a glob of Nutella awaited us! It kind of all came out in one big ball when we bit into it, but who doesn't like a mouthful of Nutella. I just wish it was a little more evenly distributed in other bites. Overall, Molly's cupcakes is a crowd pleaser and delicious choice of dessert. I asked the employees a couple of questions about the business and they didn't know any of the answers. I love the variety offered, and the cupcakes were all pretty tasty and distinct. My only gripe was that the cupcakes are served cold, so I had to let them sit out and thaw before serving. Came here to try the GF cupcakes. First off the inside of this place looks so amazingly cute. The decor is very modern, clean and just looks fun with a huge wall shleved with lunch boxes. I contacted Molly's cupcakes on south loop on 3/16/23 to place a custom cupcake order for 3/25/23, my birthday . order included 2 dozen mini cupcakes, custom assorted flavors, and a center filled cookies and cream. after not receiving confirmation by 3/18/23 I placed a call to the store to confirm email request. I spoke with an associate who said she would have the manager/boss/ supervisor call back once they were in the store. dori isufi, who's name I did not receive until 3/25/23, called back. confirmed email and order were received. no other information requested or provided at that time. I reached back out on 3/21 or 3/22 to confirm order should be available for pick up on 3/25/23. whomever I spoke confirmed order received. nothing else requested from me at that time. I still had not received email confirmation but under the impression the telephone contacts were sufficient. I go to pick up my cupcakes 3/25/23 as planned and am told that no order is ready because it was never paid for and there was nothing that could be other than placing an order for standard size cupcakes. I explained that despite numerous conversations with molly's cupcakes staff, I was never told about or provided an invoice for my order. no concession for inconvenience was offered at time. I double checked my inbox, spam and junk folder and the only email I could find linked to email address info.southloop@mollyscupcakes.com was my sent message from 3/16/23. on 3/25/23, I was given the number for the manager, mateo who I left a voicemail for that day and as of 3/31 I have not gotten any response. based on this experience I will not be retuning to Molly's south loop and will not recommend this location in the future read more
