Authentic indian food--portions are very generous, the butter chicken I wouldn't recommend (wayyy too sweet) but the rest is fabulous.

I had an early dinner here with some friends before heading to the airport. This restaurant had such a gorgeous, elegant interior with sparkling chandeliers, pretty purplish lighting, and fancy touches, such as white table cloths. It was also spacious with comfortable booth seating. We were served Papadam with red and green chutney. The Papadam was light and satisfyingly crunchy. For the appetizer, we shared the Chilli Chicken, which were crispy bite size pieces, mixed with bell peppers, tossed in a sweet chili sauce with a slight kick. The Chicken was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. I ordered the Lamb Biryani and Garlic Naan. The Naan was not garlicky enough for me, but the Biryani made up for it, consisting of fragrant Indian rice, plenty of spices, nuts and raisins, making for a truly flavorful dish. The Lamb was tender and deeply savory. Also got to try the Vegetable Korma, which was full of fresh and tasty vegetables. The Korma sauce was delightfully creamy and delicious. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. All the food came out in a timely manner and we had a lovely time dining here. I wish I had tried the Mango Lassi and Fish or Shrimp Goan Curry. read more

I ordered the butter chicken. The chicken had a weird texture to it and the sauce had very little flavor. I'm convinced that they're paying for the 4.5 star rating because the food was gross. I ordered basmati rice and they gave me 1 person enough rice to feed 8 people. The portions are huge so i guess that makes some people happy but the food was TRASH. Review of a to go/doordash order: I have not been inside or experienced the service. The door dash platform made it hard to understand if rice would come with my tikka, so I ordered a side. I don't think I've ever gone to an Indian restaurant where dishes like that weren't automatically served with rice. I'm glad I did order it because otherwise I would have had no rice. I asked for the spiciest they have listed and I would say it was just medium. Nothing to write home about spice wise. The chicken tikka was more sauce than anything else and a bit of a let down. The chili chicken chunks were flavorful and I would have again. The packaging for delivery was quite nice and I applaud that. read more

So we came here a couple years back and had a blast sitting at the bar. While still good, this visit turned up slightly less interesting Indian inspired cocktails but they do still have the spiked mango lassi which was nice. The star for me was the tandoori shrimp. Came out sizzling HOT on the plate which could be concerning as shrimp cooks quickly but they were just right and huge. Paneer saag was pretty good and we loved the papadum starter... good move giving the tomato and green chutney, remined me of Indian chips and "salsa". Our server was excellent too! Every time we come here, the service is phenomenal. There's always bollywood music playing which really puts the ambiance in perspective. Riding to Las Olas, I had no idea what I wanted to eat. I checked Yelp and saw Bombay, which I'd been to before and remembered the out‑of‑body butter chicken and naan. I don't eat chicken anymore because of my blood‑type diet, but I knew they had seafood and vegan options. We went on a Friday around 5:30 p.m., and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The service was excellent--our waiter stayed on top of water, drinks, and clearing plates. Happy Hour was perfect timing, and we ordered the whole half‑hour menu plus a spicy margarita. The bel puri stole the show--I poured its mystery sauce on everything, even the jalapeño naan, and it sent the flavors to the stratosphere. The shrimp were huge, my cousin said the wings were really good and that God is good, and the paneer tasted like he was in India. The spicy margarita was one of the best I've ever had. Last time I was here their cocktail program was on fire with Indian inspired drinks...That influenced our decision to come here. However they had a lot less interesting cocktail selection this time. Bombay Darbar still owns the Indian food game in Fort Lauderdale. I'm basically hooked on their takeout. It always arrives piping hot, sealed in their signature insulated bag, and the flavors never miss. The Chana Masala, Chili Chicken, and Tandoori Chicken Tikka are my go-tos. The vibe in here is so interesting... it is very grand and elegant, especially for a casual lunch. The food and value here is amazing-- their lunch special gets you literally a little bit of everything. You get a platter full of little dishes accompanying your entree. The grand oversized chandelier is a beauty. And all the Buddha statues and bust were pleasing. This place is definitely worth birthday celebrations. An experience that made me reconsider why we eat out. But, not in the best way. Like our experience, the reveal comes at the end. Ambiance is A+. We walked in & the mood was set! Transportive. Service is A++. Our server, Kedar, was patient & charming. He anticipated questions about the menu, spice level, portions,etc. He made gentle suggestions. Explained dishes that are prepared differently here. Repeated our orders for verification. Couldn't have been better! Food is also an A. For you cocktail enthusiasts, they have a riff on the Old Fashioned called something like "Adarak Fashion". And it is phenomenal! A testament to their grasp of flavor & balance. Ginger in an old fashioned? Genius! The appetizers, entrees, & desserts were all good. The lamb chop masala was good - but the star of the dish is much more the masala than the chop. Their chana masala was way better than anticipated - made me wish I had tried more of their vegetable entrees because the flavor was so dialed in. They have an onion naan that tastes like the best version of a no-sauce, non-pizza pizza that I've ever had. Just baked to perfection. The desserts were delicious. A mango sorbet with an intensity of mango flavor that it tasted more like a mango than any mango I had this summer. I also had a rice pudding that was reminiscent of my Cuban grandmother's arroz con leche, but still distinctly different enough that I sat there thinking - how does something so similar appear in both the Caribbean & the Indian subcontinent. The galub jhamun is one of my favorites & a must try for me whenever it's on a menu. Overall, a great experience to this point. And, then it went from an "evening out" to a "check out line". As soon as we finished desserts, our bill was brought to the table. And it was GO time! Servers & bussers began consistently asking us if we needed anything else. If they could place our to-go containers in the plastic bags. If we were done with our drinks, then our water. If they could clear the table. If we were ok. The passive-aggressive courteous service culminated in the host coming to our table & straight up asking us to leave. Stood there, stoned-faced with a "ok guys, we need the table". So, here we are. Over $300 spent for a party of 4. 3 appetizers. 4 entrees. 3 desserts. 5 drinks. In less than 2 hours (reservation was at 6pm, receipt stamped was closing out the bill at 7:56 PM). I understand some restaurants have 2 hour limits. But my experience has always been that it is made abundantly clear. We made the reservation over the phone. And we were seated by the same host who later asked us to leave. And, nowhere in the process did they tell us there was a two hour limit. The restaurant didn't have a line of people waiting. They have loud music, TVs streaming music videos, empty chairs at the bar - it's a design that invites. If it were a minimalist, fine dining vibe (like several Indian restaurants in South Florida are), I think I'd get it a bit more. But, I just couldn't rationalize the urgency. So, it begs the question - why do we go out to eat? We live in So Broward; we have options for Indian food. Bombay Darbar was good - but not soooo good that it's worth a trek to Las Olas & being rushed out on top of that. We go to restaurants for an experience, for distraction, & for an opportunity to connect with out friends & our community (by visiting local restaurants that are run by & employ locals). If we went out solely for the food, we could either order take-out OR go to any of the great places in the area that work more like diners or grab-&-go. So, the end experience is a feeling like Bombay Darbar is purely transactional. Money for food & bye. And I get it - at its core, that's what the restaurant business is. But, experience should count for something. And ultimately, repeat business by locals should matter. There are ripple effects to how you treat people. We were meeting with a long-time friend who grew up in Broward, is of partial Indian descent, & was visiting from another state. She couldn't figure out why we were asked to leave. Other people were at their tables. Maybe they were asked to leave too - we wouldn't know. But, our friend wondered if maybe we were asked to leave because of how we look (referring to skin color & ethnicity here). There was no indication skin color played a role - but that's the pernicious thing about certain behaviors...if it's unexplained, people fill in the gaps with their own experiences. Needless to say, we won't be visiting again. We wish them luck. We'd ask that maybe they implement clear messaging that the tables have a 2 hour time limit. read more

A great spot for Indian food on Las Olas! I finally got to try Bombay Darbar with some of my cousins and it did not disappoint. All of us had it on our list and we finally made it a point to try it out. We came on a Monday evening and it wasn't too crowded despite it being Spring Break season. We waited a bit to be seated but once we were, the service was pretty swift and definitely friendly. Elena was such a gem and helped us navigate through the menu since all of us aren't seasoned in ordering Indian food. Of course, I had to try the mango lassi and it was pretty good. For food, we got the garlic naan (a great go-to thing to order) as an appetizer. With Elena's help, we got the Butter Chicken (a must), tandoori chicken tikka, and the lamb roganjosh. The star of the show for me was the tandoori chicken tikka. It comes beautifully presented on a sizzling pan/plate and the flavors were sooooo good. It might be my new favorite dish next to the butter chicken. The ambiance inside was very lively and had that night life vibe with elegant chandeliers and vibrant lights + low lighting. This is one of my favorite restaurants to have Indian cuisine. It's such a cute location in Fort Lauderdale, the service it's amazing as soon as you walk in - you get greeted and acknowledge. There's so many amazing dishes to try ; you can't forget to get the naan bread with cheese it was delicious! The chicken tiki masala and the butter chicken was so good and they actually ask what's you level of spice that you would like , I always go for mild. For appetizers try samosa chaat was really good , just has a little more seasoning than expected but goes amazing with naan bread. Went here for lunch after my friend's graduation and we had a good time. My spicy margarita was one of the best I've had. For food, I got the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala with basmati rice. Absolutely loved the garlic naan and the rest of the food was tasty as well. Service was good until I asked for rice that comes along with my personal entree but was told that the table was meant to share when every person had already gotten their own personal rice except for me. First off, I'd like to say that I fully intended on giving this place 4 stars. But at the last moment, the staff were really pushy and basically told us they needed the table and asked us to leave mere minutes after paying. It just put a damper on the entire experience, which up until that moment had been quite pleasant. Our server was super friendly and helpful, the food was yummy (classic South Indian dishes, so nothing I hadn't had before, but still tasty) and the restaurant ambiance was nice, with Bollywood features playing on screen. But at no point when I made the reservation was a time limit mentioned...which I think should be done if they are in the business of rushing customers out after their meals. I understand that some places are keen to get the table cleared soon after paying, esp in a place as popular as Las Olas. But I think the customers should be made aware of this before they're seated (I would have no issue if they said there was a time limit or something similar). But we literally paid and were finishing up our drinks when we were asked to leave so they could turn the table. And this happened only a couple minutes after we paid and were still finishing up. It was rude and unnecessary. And since the food wasn't mind-blowing or anything special (with the exception of the cauliflower which was surprisingly delicious, and they're take on an old fashioned had a ginger kick to it that was unique) I don't think we'll be going back. Sadly, being treated that way, without warning, soured the experience. If you go, you'll enjoy the food, no doubt. But make sure to go on a weekday or during a slow time so you don't risk getting pushed out. Otherwise, I would suggest the restaurant list on their site (or on Open Table) that there is a time limit. read more

Came here after a comedy show in Dania on a Saturday night. Certainly a lively atmosphere! Not nearly as crowded as I thought it would be, but it can be a bit noisy. (Its Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday night, to be expected) Really cool decor, too. They bring you complimentary papadam which was delicious!! We ordered paneer pakora for an app. Was a little bland, but the chutneys they serve with it make up for it! (The tomato one was our favorite) For entrees we ordered the chicken tikka masala and chana masala and a side of naan. Both nice portions, seasoned to perfection and very flavorful. Service was super friendly and food came out fast. With two soft drinks, the app, two entrees, naan and dessert, our total came out to about $70. Its definitely a bit pricier, but it is delicious.
