I have shopped at all the Mahina stores on Maui and usually the workers are very kind and welcoming. This past Saturday I went in to the Kihei shop and was the only customer, along with my husband who sat down to wait for me. We were not greeted or helped. The gal who worked there just kept putting clothes on the racks and acted as if I was invisible. I live in Wailuku and we drove special to Kihei to visit Mahina so I could get outfits for some special upcoming events. I had a bunch of things to try on and had to ask the sales gal to try things on. The only thing she said to me on my visit was, "You can pick any room." After trying on what I had, I was going to purchase a cute dress I liked. When I walked out of the dressing room I received no acknowledgment from the sales gal, not even a "how was it?" Just terrible service. I ended up putting everything back on the racks MYSELF and my husband and I walked out. I am a 53 year old professional woman and was planning on spending a lot of money that day in Mahina, a store I love. I felt so horrible. My husband was in shock at how I was treated. I love shopping at Mahina. The clothes are reasonably priced and many are super soft. They have a great selection of clothes that make you feel beautiful and relaxed. There are various Mahina stores on Maui. You will find many different items that you didn't see at another Mahina so I like to stop in and check on what they have to offer even if I had just been to another Mahina because you never know what you will find. read more

I've been coming to the store since they first opened I love the convenience of the location when I have an event to go to I can always find something here. Today I came in pretty excited and a little stressed over A pretty amazing event that I am going to be attending. I actually love the store so much I was pretty excited to come in and hopefully find something great but the customer service was less than stellar. The girl was rude barely could make eye contact itwas like a pretty woman moment. I'm a local business owner right down the street and I was so disappointed leaving today I couldn't get out of that store fast enough. I felt so sad and disappointed I really hope that the rest of the customers that come in this week don't experience that same level of terrible customer service. Because it'll really take away from the fantastic clothing that this company is selling. read more

I have tried to go to this location three days in a row and they are always closed or a sign saying they will be back. Hours online state they open at 10 AM and the store is not open, I have called several times. I go to these shops every time I visit Maui but they make it difficult to do so. read more

I have been shopping at this Mahina for years. They always have very classy and stylish clothing here for the modern island goddess. The girls that work here are always very honest and not super pushy sales people. They will tend to you and help you pick out styles the are flattering to your taste. I used to shop here often when I lived on Maui, but now I come visit from Oahu and find pleasure in bringing my auntie here too! She also loves the dainty styles, and we never leave empty handed. It never fails. When I pack light I always find I end up needing an extra dress or another nicer outfit. We ended up going to more nice restaurants during our trip than I was thinking we would, and my one tired black dress wasn't going to cut it. While in Kihei we had some time to kill and wandered into this boutique. I was kind of surprised to see the nice selection, quality and reasonable prices. It's younger, more trendy stuff but not too crazy. I was able to pick up a gray-and black-striped strapless maxi dress for about $40 and a nice tassled scarf for $20. Not bad for an "emergency" outfit. The salesgirl was really nice and I had a very pleasant time in the store. read more

I am a long term customer of Mahina and recently went through a situation that made me more appreciative than ever. I bought a gift card at the store to give to a friend in her birthday. My friend lost the card and I decided to go back to store in the attempt of finding a solution. The manager heard me out and after some days she contacted me saying they were able to void the old gift card and place a new one for me. I know how hard that must have been and the time that must have taken because there wasn't any kind of code number linking my purchase to a specific gift card. I consider to be so important to go above and beyond for clients since that's exactly what I do whenever my clients have any issue, so I'm very happy with the customer service I received and just made me more loyal to this store. Of course on the top of all reasons it's their amazing selection of clothes and accessories, but a bad customer service would have made me look elsewhere! Thanks a lot!! read more

This was my favorite store to shop from while living on Maui, plus the Paia location. I enjoyed finding gems and staple pieces in their reduced section in the back, but their whole line breathes Hawaii from the choice of fabrics to the colors and style/cuts. I used a gift card and tried purchasing something online. When it didn't work, Carly from customer service got it taken care of in a timely manner with grace and such hospitality. My favorite place to shop! They literally have the cutest clothes for ANY OCCASION. The perfect outfit for somewhere casual or an event! Mahina is the only place where their dresses are perfect length for me and I'm 5'1! The clothes are also made with lasting material. They have super cute rompers and floral prints. Get in there as soon as they have new shipments though because they are very limited on sizes! Personally the kihei location is my favorite location but they all carry cute items. One thing I noticed about mahina over the years I've been going is that once you grab something the girls are always so noticing to start you a room so your hands aren't full which was awesome. The last few times I've been I noticed it's been lacking, also the greetings. The girls use to be so friendly with welcoming you, lately they don't really say anything. But it's okay because the variety of clothing beats anywhere else! read more

I think it's fair to think one would be greeted when walking into a small retail store. That never happens at Mahina in Kihei. The store is tiny and they can clearly see you walking in, but greeting seems to be above them. Today, was no different. They have great, fresh styles and that's why I go back, but I typically don't buy because some of the staff seems aloof. I get uncomfortable being there, especially when they started talking about a customer who made a complaint against their co-worker Lia (sp?). Their personal opinions about how the customer was wrong and their defending their co-worker was much better suited for a private setting, as opposed to blasting it with other customers browsing. They offered no assistance or engagement, just gossip between themselves and a third person, a guest trying on clothes, who mentioned she worked as a hostess at a popular restaurant and that customers treat them like shi* and went on to ask rhetorically, would you like me to wipe your a**, too? It was so uncomfortable being in there as a customer. I was shopping for an occassion and would have easily dropped 100+ dollars today, but was driven out by sales clerks, or should I just say 'clerks', who were more involved in their own mellow-drama. You're absolutely entitled to your own opinion, but if customer's get you that rattled, maybe being in customer service is the wrong line of business! read more
