We ate breakfast here every day during our stay and dinner one evening. The views are absolutely gorgeous and you can enjoy an amazing sunset here. The pricing is high - our dinner plates were around $70 and breakfast was around $30. Service was touch and go depending on the meal. For the price point, the service could defintely be improved. Our dinner at Mahina was, unfortunately, a very disappointing two-star experience. From the moment we arrived, the restaurant felt much more casual than the website and photos suggested. We waited at an unattended host stand while maybe five (?) employees walked by and told us someone would be with us shortly, yet no one actually helped us until other guests began lining up behind us. I had a reservation and when we got there requested an outdoor table, I was told the patio was fully booked and we could move outside if there were no-shows. However, numerous set outdoor tables remained empty throughout our entire meal, making that explanation frustrating. After being seated, we ordered drinks and were told the smoker for the smoked Old Fashioned was broken. If a signature cocktail is featured on the menu, I would expect a backup option when equipment isn't working. There is also a disconnect between Mahina's branding and its menu. The restaurant markets itself as Polynesian-inspired. Instead, the menu is overwhelmingly American and contemporary, with only a few tropical ingredients or loosely Hawaiian-inspired dishes. Beyond ahi poke and touches of pineapple or guava, the menu is dominated by items like flatbreads, fried ravioli, calamari, burgers, steaks, and crab cakes. The restaurant also felt unfinished and somewhat disorganized. The beautiful pizza oven featured in promotional photos appeared closed off and was seemingly being used as a storage or service area. Staff were constantly rushing around and at one point the kitchen door flew open behind us and there was some type of collision between staff. Individually these aren't major issues, but together they detracted from what should have been an calm ambiance and relaxed dining experience. Our server was pleasant but largely absent after taking our order. My husband finished his drink without ever being offered another, and our food took an unusually long time to arrive. We watched six tables seated after us receive their meals first. When I asked about the delay, I was initially told our food would be right out, only to wait several more minutes before being told it was still being prepared. I think our food was definitely forgotten about until we asked. The food itself was good, but at $60-$70 for many entrées and well over $100 per person for dinner, I expected a far more polished experience. Those prices are comparable to restaurants at The Breakers Palm Beach, where the service, atmosphere, and overall experience are on an entirely different level. We ordered the crab cake and the bison burger with truffle fries. Both were enjoyable, but our first impressions influenced our choices. We would have ordered more expensive entrées, but after the arrival experience and service, we didn't feel confident they would justify the cost. I was also surprised that the $35 bison burger is actually a blend of bison and other meats. On the menu, "wagyu" is misspelled, so also wasn't going to order that. Just a lot of little things that contributed to an underwhelming experience. The little things matter, especially at that price point. When we expressed our frustration with out experience, we asked for our dessert to be comped. The Key Lime Pie slice was tiny and is listed on the menu for $15. Crazy. At the end of the night, they discounted our check as well which was appreciated. I think if we were seated outside, our experience would have been really different. We would have been much more relaxed and probably wouldn't have noticed a lot of the small things, but sitting inside felt stressful and very drawn out due to the environment and our extended wait for our food. If we were watching the sunset maybe the wait wouldn't have felt so long. Overall, Mahina did not deliver the elevated dining experience we expected. The food was enjoyable and our server was kind, but the disorganized atmosphere, inconsistent service, long wait times, and premium pricing left us disappointed. read more

So very disappointed in our dinner here. My adult children tried to plan a very special anniversary dinner for us and when we arrived at this beautiful Property, we were immediately so excited. That excitement dissipated instantly as we were greeted by very unenthusiastic staff. From the hostess to the bus boys to our waitress, everyone had absolutely no energy. We sat on the beautiful patio enjoying a gorgeous night and we were so disappointed in the food. Both gentlemen ordered steaks, medium rare, and they both came out way overdone. When we finally got someone's attention to take them back They waited approximately 10 minutes to get new steaks, which we're done exactly the same And for a different cut than a ribeye, which wasn't on the menu. They weren't even fully plated properly.. We finally got a manager to come over who only apologized and said we'll take them off the bill. There was no effort to offer anything else or do anything for us. The night ended so poorly our waitress never acknowledged our anniversary and we left very very disappointed. What an experience!! My bf and I had an amazing Valentine's Day here, perfect way to close out the weekend. I really wanna give a shout out to Pedro who really looked after us to make sure we had an incredible experience. He made sure to come to our table to take the perfect picture at sunset and always came in to drop by and see how everything was tasting. The bread was warm and fresh served with whipped butter, it was the perfect amount and it tasted so good. Crab dip was amazing with the pita bread. Stayed at the resort for the weekend and ate at this restaurant once for dinner and twice for breakfast. Breakfast was good but nothing spectacular. The first breakfast we had good service and food was good, we had the avocado toast and all American breakfast as well as mimosas and the green juice. For our second breakfast, we did not have a good experience. First of all, we had a terrible experience with the female manager who (in a terrible way) informed one of the people in our party that they couldn't order a meal off the kids menu. She just had mouth surgery and can't eat much so we didn't want to have to pay for a full meal that she wasn't going to eat all of. The reasons she gave us for not being able to order the meal were stupid and unprofessional. Our server also barely gave us a second thought. Took forever to get her attention and ask for things/the bill. We had a much better experience for dinner. Angelina was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience, to the point that she even let us use her own personal bug spray because we were getting attacked by mosquitos. She offered to take numerous pictures of us as the sun was setting and actually took good pictures! The food and drinks were mouth watering. Everything we ordered was sooo yummy. This a review for breakfast. Parking was easy and its a short walk to the restaurant. We got seated quickly at an out door table. The view was great. They are quick to refill your water but not so quick the coffee. The food was generally very good. A few minor items that we didn't feel needed correction. My son had an undercooked poached egg and the avocado toast was more arugula than avocado, otherwise no complaints. We were a party of five and there was a 20% service charge on the bill but the usual tip percentages recommended. This wasn't explained, or noted and honestly, I couldn't be bothered to ask. If you're in Marathon, this spot is an absolute must-visit. There's simply no better place to watch the sunset--the views are breathtaking, the atmosphere is incredible, and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. That said, the food isn't the main attraction. It's decent, but nothing that would bring me back on its own. We all finished our meals, so it's not that anything was bad--I was just expecting more. I'd definitely return with someone who hasn't been before because the setting is that stunning, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit solo. Come for the views and ambiance--you won't be disappointed. First of all, the food was a total rip off. Everything had no flavor at all and was unsalted (meanwhile the salt shaker was broken). The mashed potatoes were hard, the steak was overcooked and dry, the green beans were some of the worst I've ever had, and the tuna was the most flavorless fish I've had in my life. If this wasn't bad enough, the service was insanely bad. We waited an insane amount of time for everything: to be seated, for water, to order, for our appetizers, for our drinks to be refilled, etc. The waiter got multiple orders wrong and didn't inform us about food the resteraunt was out of--leaving us shocked when our food came out and multiple items were changed. The staff were extremely unfriendly and unprofessional, a manager literally dropped the door as I was walking through it. As a member of the food service community myself, I know how to treat customers, and this is not it. This quality of food and service sets a certain expectation of price--cheap. But this meal was far from cheap, in fact, the prices were much higher than average, astronomically high for such a bad experience. Though, one good thing about this place was the view, it looked over the ocean and was a great place to watch the sunset. The service was great for dinner slightly slow for breakfast but I chuck it up to them being busier and rolling into the weekend. Beautiful location on the beach, decent sushi, crappy service and worse loud piped in music. 5 tables in the whole place on a Saturday night but the three servers were eternally confused and absent. Oh you don't have utensils or chopsticks? Food was good when it came after an hour. Edamame dead last. How is the easiest item the last to show? It didn't help that the family seated right next to us had a kid that screamed the whole time but the parents were down with that. Never again. There were multiple areas where Mahina fell flat. We originally called to update our reservation from four to five and were told that wouldn't be possible due to four-seating tables. Upon arrival we notified the restaurant of our party size increase and were seated, without issue, at a SIX-seater. Beyond that mild annoyance, the main thing we noticed was that restaurant emitted a strange odor, similar to a public restroom. The service was okay. But the food was mediocre, at best. One person in our party sent their food back because it was not prepared as requested. When the food returned, it was still prepared incorrectly. I ordered the jumbo coconut guava shrimp (app) and coconut rice (side), which came up to about $28 which was overpriced for the quality. The shrimp was under cooked and partially mushy in areas. I also ordered the butterscotch and dark chocolate lava cake which didn't flow at all. The lump crab cake was also mildly disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

We had dinner last night at Isla Bella Mahina. An ordeal to get a reservation. As we called 5 times before they bothered to answer. Our waiter was a disaster. Wine list was a bust. We ordered. Fried snapper. Fresh but cold with no flavor. Half roasted chicken Which turned out to be two leg quarters (which I would not be opposed to) one was dried out. But the other was moist go figure. So disappointed we hightailed it out of there. Breakfast parfait was good. the Benedict. Was fresh. But again cold and boring. Espresso was excellent. And the fresh juices good as well. Spotted a burger that looked enticing served pool side. Will try it for lunch tomorrow. Hoping for the best. So far Disappointed. Food is fresh. Boring cold with sad service. But the view !!!! The crab dip was mostly cream cheese with very little crab, and the appetizer took about 30 minutes to arrive. The main entrées were very disappointing. I paid $75 for a lobster tail that was very small and came with two shrimps, literally two. To make matters worse, my lobster had a hair in it. When I asked about the portion size, they claimed the lobster was 7 oz, which honestly didn't seem accurate. They ended up bringing out a different fish for me, but it tasted like catfish. My entrée was also incorrect--I asked for jasmine rice and was served mashed potatoes instead. My husband's ribeye wasn't good either and looked very chewy. Service was inconsistent. We vacationed to Isle Belle in December for 4 nights and two of the nights we ate dinner at the Mahina because it was amazing! Besides the obvious beautiful views, the staff and food were 10/10. First, the hostess was so sweet! The first time we ate at Mahina, we requested outdoor seating and she sat us at the far right corner table facing the bridge (best table in the entire restaurant in my opinion). The second time we ate there, I asked for the same table as she was about to seat us elsewhere and she accommodated immediately. She also took photos of us by the water and told us about the blankets that they offer if we get cold!! Second, the food was sooo good. From the apps, dinner, and dessert everything was delicious! Third, I don't remember the waitresses names but both nights, we had good service... Some reviews say their service/food wasn't good which is so surprising! But note we visited this restaurant in December and I could count the guests on my fingers (the restaurant/hotel wasn't busy at all). Fourth, the views!!!!! Breathtaking. We had several meals at Mahina during our weeklong stay, and every one was a great experience. The food was consistently excellent, and we really appreciated the variety--especially the vegetarian options and the dedicated kids' menu. It made it so much easier to accommodate special diets and some picky eaters in our group. But what truly made Mahina memorable for us was our amazing waitress, Jess. She was genuinely one of the best parts of our entire trip. Warm, funny, and incredibly attentive, she has a way of making you feel like more than just another table. My kids absolutely adored her--so much so that when we asked them about their favorite parts of the trip, getting to know Jess was near the top of their list. She made them feel seen and cared for, which is something you don't always get in a restaurant setting. We ended up requesting Jess every night because dining with her felt like coming home to a familiar friend. She even made our anniversary dinner feel extra special, adding thoughtful touches that really meant a lot to us. If I had one suggestion, it would be to open the restaurant for lunch with some lighter fare. The burger spot by the pool wasn't quite up to the same standard--greasy and a bit underwhelming. Having the option to enjoy Mahina's quality food earlier in the day would've been fantastic. There's plenty of room to eat on the beach or porch for the views. It was cool to eat dinner on the beach and have a view of the lightening far away. The service was a little hit or miss. There was a time we got sat and waited a while before being serviced. Another couple got sat after us and got their food before we were ever approached to take our order. We dined at Marina multiple times during our stay at Isla Bella during our wedding! We were so pleased with both the breakfast and dinner menus. Our guests all enjoyed the variety of offerings, price point for quality of food, and beautiful sunrise and sunset views! Mahina staff are incredible. One of our diners is vegan, and she appreciated the separate vegetarian/vegan menu, which can be hard to find in the Keys. Our table especially enjoyed the Ahi Tuna dish and the Ribeyes. For dinner we tried the whole snapper and the linguine; the snapper was lacking in flavor but the linguine was good. Breakfast is a much better deal in my opinion, but it's still pricey. I really liked the benedict with key lime hollandaise - I got that a few days in a row. The pancakes were also tasty. My husband enjoyed the avocado toast, that was his go-to choice most mornings. Overall Mahina is an ok option for staying onsite at the resort, but I'd recommend going elsewhere if you're up for it. Our food left a lot to be desired, especially for the price. My husband had the Cowboy ribeye -$80 and it was a bit tough and while ribeyes should have fat it had a large amount of thick areas of fat. I ordered the braised short ribs and it was extremely dry and the sides were bland. We also had a Caesar salad which was good. My other son had the bbq pork flat bread which was actually quite good. Amazing sunset but the rest was horrible. Took almost 2 hours to get our food and when it came out it was cold. Ordered Rare steak was cooked medium well. Soup was cold. They offered plenty of bread while we waited. Manager came out and offered a Luke warm apology and desert but by that time my kids just needed to get in bed. The server actually admitted to us she saw our food sitting up ready and couldn't get it to us.
