Looking at the food it truly looked like hospital food quality, and for the prices I was expecting something a little jazzier on the presentation- but truly seeing around this area everything is $$$$. Service is an order behind the counter, find a seat & listen for your name called over the intercom (you can't hear anything- so just go ahead & stand over by the counter). It's a bit touristy, but I'm a perpetual tourist. I take every friend there when I sail down and back through the keys. It's always a favorite. Bartenders are cool. They are used to dealing with people from everywhere. The food is a bit pricy but solid for Keys Seafood Bar Food! We usually sit up on the deck (adults only) and order a few apps from their menu and then a few dishes from the actual restaurant. Kids are welcome. You can buy fish food to feed tarpon. Just have to eat downstairs. Weekends are busy. Plenty of parking. Sometimes they have live music. Sometimes they don't. On the weekends it can get busy. Apple Maps says they open at 9 but it's actually 11 so had to wait a bit, got there at 10:30. Went for the lobster Reuben I saw all over tiktok. Really disappointing. My wife and I visited my brother in Highland Beach FL, then drove to Key West. On the way we stopped for lunch at Keys Fisheries. I was dying for grouper so I ordered the Reuben Grouper sandwich. Excellent food and eating spots on the wharf. Favorite lunch spot on the drive down to KeyWest. Loved the stone crab. They serve it cold which I wasn't expecting but it was so flavorful by itself and with the provided sauces. Excellent sweet potato fries and perfect coleslaw that isn't dripping in sauce. You walk up to a window and order your food. The menu is on the wall and you can look at it while you wait in line. There will be a line - so what - it moves fast. You give the girl a fake name and then wait for it to be called so you can go back to the window and get your tray of food. Then you find a seat somewhere nearby at a picnic table. Who cares? None of this will matter once you start eating the food. Oh yeah, you can get alcohol here too. Sign me up! I don't remember what I have year after year BUT I will never forget what I had this year - and neither will anyone else! There's a special on the board this time: hogfish francaise or francese however you'd like to spell it. I notice the catch of the day is hogfish. This sounds like a winner. I order it. I get it. I eat it. I am forever changed. I would sell my soul to have this again. Yes - it was that good. I feel bad for my friends and family at this point. Sometimes basic is better. You order at a window after perusing a huge menu on the wall. Sit at a picnic table overlooking the water. In a few minutes your name is called and go get some of the freshest seafood on the planet. Big portions. Cooked perfectly. You can get pretty much anything here. Initially, I ordered Keys Fisheries food via DoorDash. The fried scallops basket and lobster bisque were meh at best. The hogfish platter was somewhat better, offering a generous portion along with some tasty smashed potatoes. 2 days later, a server at another restaurant highly recommended Keys Fisheries' 2nd floor tiki lounge as the best place in Marathon to partake of a sunset. He was abso-freaking-lutely right! At sunset, the bartender serves up complimentary rum punch shots. A great view of a sunset, we came here on a Friday night. We ordered food downstairs at the window and brought it to the upper deck. We ordered 1 Broiled Lobsters with vegetables and rice. At the bar, they had half bottles and we got a half bottle for $14 of the Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. It was neat because at sunset, they hand out "Sunset Shots". Boy was this place fun. We enjoyed the sunset toast a lot. The posts covered with stickers give a festive ambiance. The drinks and food at happy hour were so cheap compared to heat we've been paying. Can only speak to the key lime pie- it lived up to its hype! Wonderful consistency and crust.

Came back to visit a year after my initial visit and my review remains the same. Way more about atmosphere and less about the food. You stand in line to order then wait about 30-45 minutes for your food to arrive (on a slow night-- we actually went on a Monday evening). We fed the tarpon and had some drinks while we waited but the kids started to get hungry and upset. Food was nothing to write home about. The chicken on the sandwich was so thin- the onion pieces are actually bigger than the chicken (see pic). Do not order the chicken sandwich if you are hungry. Key lime pie was as expected. The crab Mac and cheese was the best part. Lots of crab and cheesy Mac. The restroom is located in the parking lot and bit sketchy with only one stall. Parking can get full on a busy night. Parking lot is gravel. The bar is at the back of the restaurant with lots of drink options and quick service. They have seating for 21+ at an upstairs area that generally has live music. read more

This is now one of my favorite places in Marathon, and I'm not easy to please. Yes, you can blow a tremendous amount of money on silly things like a lobster reuben. If that's how you roll, more power to you. However, I think a place really shines with how well it does the simple things: Cold peel and eat shrimp Conch fritters Stone crab claws with mustard sauce Key lime pie The stone crab claws will set you back a pretty penny. But the insider tip is to order them at the upstairs bar where they are cheaper for some mysterious reason. The ambiance is rustic, outdoor, picnic table, marina dining. There's a downstairs bar as well, if you are visiting with minors who aren't allowed upstairs and you want a cold local beer or some kind of fruity cocktail. You want frills? Go someplace else. You want delicious fresh seafood and a delightful (if not the absolute best, a close second) slice of key lime pie, go to Keys Fisheries. Next time I'm in town, it might be hard to get me to eat anyplace else. One last thing. There are dispensers of fish food scattered around the dining area where you can get a small handful of pellets for a quarter. On one visit, the feeding frenzy attracted a couple of curious nurse sharks! So you can get some pretty nifty critter sightings too. read more
