It was our 12th night of a two week vacation in the keys and I just wanted a real nice dinner with real plates and glasses! I've been eyeing Plaza girls for years and decided that's where we're going. It's a very pretty restaurant very cozy. We were a party of four comfortably sat. I started with there special old-fashioned, which was smoked and absolutely delicious. Another had a Cosmo that was made perfectly. the one appetizer special, coconut lobster fritters, with fruit compote was Spot on . the perfect beginning . We also had their baked Brie and tomato mozzarella salad. All were top notch. Main courses were there hog fish of the day with risotto, chicken Parmesan and the New York strip. Delicious. Every single bite. Ended our meal with a perfectly made espresso martini! Our server was Kyle and he was exactly what you want , efficient and friendly. the service was very good as was the atmosphere but that's pretty much where it ends. The food was adequate but not great. The prices were so ridiculously high that my expectations were set accordingly. Needless to say the food did not measure up. The scallop risotto was good but not $52 good. my linguini with white clam sauce was very good but the menu showed the price at $32. After arriving home I noticed they charged me $38. our bottle of wine was $55 on the menu but $59 on the bill. Very unprofessional to say the least! Four of us had dinner there last night and it was nice but does not warrant their big city prices. My plaza Old Fashioned was excellent. Baked Brie Provencale was tasty but a joke at $26. My wife loved her Chicken Parmesan. My son and I had Cowboy Ribeyes and while tasty, they were way too thin, maybe 3/4 inch and because of that, cooked more to medium than the requested medium rare. For $88 I'd have preferred a thicker steak with a smaller footprint. His wife's risotto with fresh catch of yellowtail snapper was very good. Lighting was weird and we were seating at the back in the service galley, which sucked. Best date night ever! We had the pleasure of catching "Beer for Breakfast" at the Marathon Community Theater, our favorite local gem. Being members of this tiny but vibrant community theater fills us with pride, and last night reaffirmed why we love it so much. What we didn't expect was the incredible dining experience at The Plaza Grill, right next door! From the moment we tasted the tomato sauce served with the calamari, we knew we were in for a treat. It was rich and flavorful, setting the stage for what was to come. We couldn't resist ordering the Chicken Parm, and let me tell you -- it was excellent, excellent, excellent! We've been regulars here for many years. This trip not so great. Drink prices are too high for a neighborhood restaurant. $20 for a well martini plus $4 upcharge for "up". Food is always delicious and well presented. Service has changed. Nevin is gone and Daniella is not very good. Her accent is difficult to understand. We had to have her repeat herself many times. Mistakes were made in the bill. Over charging on dessert above what was on the menu. Chairs that used to be comfortable are now worn down. Our chins were too close to the table. I think we will find a new fine dining experience in Marathon. Most Martinis are $7 to $12 in the area. read more

Absolutely fantastic. Pleasant surprise. Nice, elegant restaurant hidden in the corner of a strip mall. Nothing but well heeled people showing up....a great sign. I had the special Mahi Francese , my wife had the NY Strip. Both excellent. The steak was unexpectedly good. We're from the steak capital of the world, the Midwest. Love Texas...but their steak tends to be tough. Midwest cattle are fed differently. And taste better. Juicier...more flavorful. Anyway...next time im stepping up to the "cowboy " steak at 22 ounces. Can't believe we get steak like this here. The fish is excellent as expected....the steak is a pleasant surprise. Staff is excellent. Bartender superb.This restaurant would do very well in Chicago. Oh my goodness, what a jewel in the Keys crown. We expected it to be a good experience, but man! It was so much much more. Hidden behind those brown window shutters and the pretty flowers outside is a high end, select caring restaurant with fabulous food and serving and kitchen teams. So very welcoming and warm hearted. JUST CALL AND BOOK. I promise you will not be dissapointed. We will book anf go whenever we are nearby. Also do pop in to the shop next door- fantastic subs like no other. Food is pretty good here but I would say don't bother. There is no view, dishes are costly and the service is terrible. Our bartender had his 'family' and friends there and basically ignored everyone else. Warning! Don't eat here! If you ever see that all the tables are full..run from this restaurant. They can't handle the occupacy in the kitchen. We waited over an hour an half for any food. They had excuses that the kitchen is back up but not offer anything to eat. The food is not fine dining and is more like Outback. The restaurant is very small. I definitely would not recommend this place if you have a family or group that is more than 3 people. The cowboy steak was ok. The surf and turf was edible. The alfredo pasta was not terrible. The blacken fish with risotto was salty. When the server asked if she can get something else, I asked for rice and of course they were out of mashed potatoes and rice. Such a wonderfully intimate, "old school" elegant place. Great bar. Low lighting. We had an outstanding meal. My husband had a strip steak. He is picky but said it was excellent. It came on a cutting board with large fries and broccoli. Our friend had chicken parmigiana. He ate until he was full and still had enough to take home. I am a vegan. The owner, who greeted us at the door, assured me they could make a delicious vegan dish. It did not disappoint. I was very happy. Plus, I had one of their signature martinis. Well worth it. I had to give this rating 2 stars solely because the drink pieces were outrageous. We had 2 eight once filets. We asked for bearnaise sauce for our fillets but the server said they didn't have any! Filet mignon and no bearnaise hmmm. The kicker was when we got our bill and we were charged $14.00 for a rum (Bacardi)and coke! $14 bucks for the most basic cocktail there is! Considering every other restaurant we've been to in Marathon sells their rum and cokes for around $8 I will not be going back to Plaza Grill. read more

Well let me see that there is truly nothing bad that I can say about this great establishment. From the second I walked in I was greeted By Melissa my server bartender with open arms per say. Immediately on arrival Melissa asked me if I have eaten in her restaurant in the past after giving her a positive no I have not she continued to explain how the menu options were and how the courses were brought out to me. As she did that she presented me with not only a very good wine list but the main menu. The menus itself or something to be reckoned with definitely gave me a lasting impression on its presentation nothing like the flimsy many is that I've seen in these other restaurants here at the marathon keys. She explained to me that everything is brought out in stages starting from your appetizers to your main course and not to worry that she was going to take care of me and I was in great hands. So part from the wine after she allowed me to taste it she brought out freshly baked bread which is a rarity to see you and restaurants to home lately don't serve bread at the beginning of your dinner service and if some of them do it's one or two pieces instead I got a loaf fit for a king. Well upon ordering I was recommended by Melissa the ceviche mix with octopus and without knowing there was a gas that came from a far to eat at the restaurant tonight and recommended me the same ceviche. Needless to say it was heavenly it wasn't your typical citrus marinated ceviche it was all done Mediterranean style perfect to the touch. My hats go off to Chef For doing such an outstanding job on this cuisine. We next moved onto the main course which was the veal know I've had veal and other places and some of them just tasted badly or just wasn't cooked nearly to perfection. But let me tell you that the masterpiece that chef made for me was far and above ordinary profession to say the least the second that I pulled my fork out of the meat itself it was so tender my fork couldn't hold onto it and yet as I put it into my mouth it's seem to melt away like butter The flavor was perfect not too salty whatsoever once again chef you've done and great job. And one of the great experience that I had was seen the chef walk out and taking time to grieve his guest recognizing them as their long-term diners I haven't seen that much lately here in the keys so it's something to be noticed although he was busy in the kitchen he took time away chef greeted me and asked me how my dinner was and let me tell you that it was so delicious I couldn't even answer him correctly because my mouth was full of the great food. I do highly recommend this restaurant it is a very home felt fancy establishment one that will not have you fall short of ohhhh's and Ahhhhh's. From the host all the way through the back kitchen you get an impression of it being a family oriented establishment which is something that again you don't see not only here in the keys as much but in Florida as a whole I was informed that the restaurant closes during certain holidays which keeps it as a Homefield family environment so please come on down enjoy your meal it's very romantic low lit restaurant perfect for a great evening with your wife fiancé or your date. read more

Hadn't been in here for several years, but had theater tickets and it's right next door. The restaurant was full and it appeared that most people arrived relatively close to the same time, so we expected it might be a little backed up. We sat down at 6:15. Fifteen minutes after we were seated, we finally got some waters, and our waitress apologized for the wait but said she'd take good care of us. Five minutes after that (6:35), she took our drink order; we also asked for an appetizer to get the ball rolling. Two of our three drinks came out at 6:45. At 6:55, our waitress said the kitchen was out of the appetizer we ordered. At this point, we still hadn't ordered and still only had two of the three drinks. We asked for the check.
