Had great meal and service Mia was great. We were close to paying the bill, and the owner came by to inform us that's we took too long and to leave essentially. We had a meal for close to $200 and was at a good pace of 1 hour and 35 min, when the owner came by to move us out for another customer. Maybe we shouldn't have desert so the owner can accommodate another customer and make more money. This was the most embarrassing end to a great meal. Loved this establishment. The bartender is very respectful and respectful. She knew what she was doing. Everyone appears happy here working. Mahoney's is best restaurant in Orleans by far. Consistently excellent food and top notch service. The tuna nachos are amazing and can serve as an entree on their own. Best Caesar salad. Fresh fish every time that never disappoints, they cook meats to perfection and offer really creative daily specials and intriguing sides such as butternut squash risotto. Also -- they serve wonderful cosmopolitan cocktails (blush pink, just as it should be). The bar is large and comfortable, yet the dining area is a bit cramped (albeit beautifully decorated). But they do the most they can with the space that they have. This place never lets us down! read more

Walking in, it has such a welcoming and homey vibe. The bar was full and the dim lighting was a great setting for dinner. Even though it was 8:30 ( and they close at 9:00) they sat us. Our waitress was very sweet and very attentive. Every time the water glass was empty she was right there to fill it up, check in on the meal and etc. I had the prickly pear margarita and it was delicious- not to mention it was generous in its libations! For dinner my partner had the salmon, and absolutely loved it. He said the mash was a perfect pairing with it. I had the stuffed chicken and the flavors were incredible. It was a generous portion, and the mash was also a great pairing with the meal ( not to mention the sauce was a perfect addition) The prices are a little higher than "typical", but expected for a good meal. This is a really hard review to write because it includes two visits with different results. Our first dinner three or four weeks ago was fabulous. Great local bar/restaurant vibe, wonderful, friendly server and delicious baked cod (me) and stuffed chicken (wife). Drinks were good. Just an overall positive experience. Last night, not so much. There were four of us. We had the "Wellfleet" oysters and ahi tuna app which were both good. I had the cod again. Wife and one of our guests had the mussels and that's where the two experiences differ so widely. The mussels were big, tough and the broth wasn't flavorful. If you don't want to dip bread into your mussel broth, that says a lot. Fourth diner had ravioli which were ok. Server was excellent, beer was cold, ambiance is good but bad mussels can really ruin an evening. read more

Mahoney's Atlantic Bar & Grill is a seafood restaurant and steakhouse that opened in Orleans, Massachusetts in 1999. It was founded by chef Edward "Ted" Mahoney. The building that houses the restaurant dates back to the 19th Century; it originally served as a dry goods and penny candy store. Chef Mahoney's culinary career began when he was just a teenager working in the kitchen at Captain Higgins restaurant in Wellfleet. After working in a number of other restaurants, Mahoney decided to attend the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley to apprentice with Master Chefs in a special program designed for experienced chefs. The restaurant's menu contains classic seafood and steakhouse fare such as soups, salads, appetizers, grilled and broiled seafood entrees, steaks, chicken, BBQ ribs, pasta and sandwiches. My wife and I first visited Mahoney's in the summer of 2013. We were very impressed by the restaurant's decor and atmosphere. We started off first with a plate of fresh Wellfleet Oysters; some of the best we ever had! For my entree, I ordered one of Mahoney's house specialties: the Atlantic Steaming Bowl (a Portuguese Bouillabaisse with local little neck clams, mussels, scallops, haddock, shrimp and squid with a tomato saffron broth and thin spaghetti). I felt like this dish was a perfect culinary representation of Cape Cod in a bowl. We still had some room left for dessert. My wife ordered the Frozen Lemon Mousse (Crème fraiche, candied lemon zest, fresh berries) and I ordered the Tiramisu (lady fingers, coffee, Kahlua liqueur, mascarpone cheese, chocolate sauce). Mahoney's is always a great time. We make a point of looking in once a week during our too short visits to Orleans. And why not? The menu is outstanding - something for everybody- terrific service, friendly, accommodating staff, and a delightfully relaxed vibe. The bar has a 1940s feel that makes you want to come early for a meditative snifter before your table is called. In short, a place of refreshment, light, and peace conveniently located in the middle of the nicest little town in Cape Cod. Or is it on Cape Cod? I'm never quite sure. read more

We felt like a steak and we weren't sure if you could find a good steak place in Orleans, on the Cape. It was great to arrive some place that does steak well! We started with salads. The three we had were the Small Caesar, the Pear and Gorgonzola, and their special - the Beet Salad. The Caesar was a nice little salad if you don't want to bring leftovers home. The Pear and Gorgonzola was great to share with two people. The pear matches well with the cheese. And that Gorgonzola was not super pungent, as some can be very strong. I liked the candied walnuts with it. The beet salad was nice. It was strange when it first arrived to the table without a dressing or goat cheese. We talked to a Manager who came over and was very apologetic and came back quickly with a new one with dressing on the side and added goat cheese. It comes with red onion and the other diner who ordered the salad was fine with it. I thought the raw red onion takes away from the other flavors. Otherwise, a nice salad. We ordered three steaks. My husband had a Filet Mignon (no picture), but he said prepared excellently to his standards. I had the NY Strip Steak and mine was cooked just right! The accompaniments were very good. My choice was mashed potatoes and it came with a side seasonal vegetable of cooked squash. Very delicious! Our other diner had the same NY Strip, but chose the Saffron Risotto Cake as her side. She liked it, but we thought it was a little plain and didn't taste super fresh. It was a nice evening with social distancing in place inside and in their heated tent. This is gonna be a weird review! My family was visiting Cape Cod and we had heard great things about the food here so decided to go for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised there was only a 20 minute wait for a table. The problem was once we were seated, it was nearly 20 minutes (about 15) before our waitress came to greet us. The table next to us informed us they were short staffed and that things had been very slow all night - they had been there for 3 hours when we arrived. I get it, that happens. When the waitress came over and we said hello, we asked how she was doing and she responded, verbatim, "mediocre at best." She was in a super upset mood, which made it really awkward. The rave reviews we had heard of this place were true in that the food was excellent. No complaints! Unfortunately we never received the clam chowder we ordered, as they had run out. So here's where it gets weird. We were totally ready to put the sub-par service out of our minds and leave on a good note, when the waitress came over to our table..crying. She told us she was having a terrible night and was embarrassed and wanted to give us a dessert to apologize for the poor service, even though we hadn't complained. We awkwardly tried to console her (we also had our 5 year old son with us which made it more awkward, as he couldn't understand why our waitress was so upset). We appreciated the gesture of the complimentary dessert. She then brought the bill and, although the dessert wasn't on it as she had promised, the clam chowder was still on the bill even though they were out. We didn't have another half hour to wait around to deal with this, as she had already run our credit card when we saw the chowder on the itemized receipt. So we let it be as it was, and chalked it all up to the weirdest dining experience ever....great food, crying waitress and all. read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It's been around for a long time. My parents frequented it often when I was a child, but I wasn't invited. It's best that way. Sophisticated vibe, spot on service and delicious food that highlights local fish. Congratulations! You kicked out a local on her birthday! This is a true story.... I walk in around 5pm, bar is packed with all white-haired men. One bar chair is open, I ask if the seat was taken and the men on either side just grunted (so rude). I sat down. The first male bartender was busy and never gave me eye contact. Time moves, I'm waiting for someone to acknowledge me. After what seemed like 10 minutes, a nasty female bartender comes over to me and says "there's a couple sitting behind you that wanted to sit at the bar, you need leave, maybe another 15-20 minutes". I asked her "you're kicking me out", she said "yes". Everyone at the bar heard her too, so add humiliation to the list. Keep in mind, 2 seats were NOT open, just the one. So kicking me out did nothing for the couple waiting to sit at the bar, it was only one seat available, they still had to wait. I was in a rush and would have chewed and screwed and left a fat tip since I'm in the industry. You literally kicked a local out on my birthday just so you could appease the tourists. You FAILED on many levels. I'll never step foot in there again. Karma. read more

Really good food and amazing customer service! I dined here for dinner while visiting Cape Cod. Due to the popular lobster dish posted on Yelp, I tried it and was absolutely in love with the flavor. The oysters were very fresh as well. My waitress was very sweet and attentive throughout the entire dinner experience. I'd like to give this place 5 stars - most of the food was excellent and the restaurant itself was very nice. But - the service was VERY slow, both the waitress and the kitchen. It was well over an hour to get waited on and have salad, dinner and dessert - and we didn't dally eating - we were hungry. Even the bread took almost 10 minutes to arrive. And despite asking for my tuna to be cooked medium, it was raw except the very outside - what the French call bleu. I didn't send it back - didn't want to wait any longer. Plus, the vegetable was not green beans, as on the menu, but asparagus, which I don't like. Now, the good news. The caesar and mixed salads were excellent, the white beans with spinach, onions and chopped tomatoes were spicy and wonderful, the seafood bowl was perfect, and the pumpkin bread pudding was very good. They were very busy, and perhaps understaffed, it being the off season, so your mileage may vary. The locals love the place - the bar was full of couples and small groups enjoying an evening out or waiting for a table. read more

The food here was great and the service was wonderful. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. The outdoor limited seating worked very well, very cute. The drunken shellfish were delicious, same with the crab and fish cakes along with the oysters. Although they do not have an espresso machine they informed us that they purchase the espresso from across the street and French press it there every morning. My bf has the Ribs for his meal. He enjoyed them, however I wasn't fond of the flavor and they were a little fatty for me. Looking forward to returning. read more

Mahoneys was an excellent choice for a date night during a our Orleans vacation. The staff was excellent, the restaurant was clean and they created a lovely outdoor space to ensure guests had the option to dine outside during this pandemic. We ordered the oysters(yum), the chowder, which was huge and top notch and the tuna sashimi, which was cooked only slightly and wonderfully fresh. For dinner we had the tuna bolognese, which we found interesting but good and the Atlantic Steaming bowl that was jammed packed with excellent seafood, wish it came with fresh bread rather than pasta. Dinner was finished with the espresso martini, I wish I had more it was soo soo good. Highly recommend while visiting Orleans. read more
