We have spent summers and parts of the rest of the year on the Cape for over 20 years. It has been around as long as I can remember. And we decided to try this weekend when my daughter came with a friend. We will definitely going back. The main complaint is that is hard to get a reservation. We started with calimari. It was pretty, but not exceptional. My wife had the onon soup. For main courses we had the beet and arugula salads, (the arugula with shrimp), the flounder and the crispy salads. The main reason I cam giving the restaurant 5* was the scallops. These were far from the typical fried scallops. They had a like panko coating, served with succotash, and were quite good, even by Cape Cod standards for scallops. The salads are both also very good. Service was attentive and not intrusive. I've eaten here a couple of times and done takeout on occasion during those pandemic days. Plus I've eaten at one of the enclosed outdoors tables during those same pandemic days. I've found this restaurant to be one of the best ones around. Scargo is one of the reasons why travelers shouldn't skip Route 6A. I'm usually there during off-peak (translation: cold) times, so I tend to gravitate towards more robust menu offerings. The French onion soup is quite good, with a nice beefy broth and a generous amount of cheese. It's nice that the restaurant offers bread, which is becoming a rarer occurrence. The entree portions are quite strong. The lemon flounder filets were nicely pan-fried and not overcooked. The seafood strudel has a good amount of seafood, including a lot of shrimp and smaller scallops. I don't think they have the cioppino anymore but that was also a quality entree as well. Service has always been friendly and professional. The servers are good at making friendly conversation without dragging down efficiency. read more

Scargo is one of my aunt's most frequented restaurants in Dennis. When we finally had a chance to visit her this November, I knew we had to make a stop there. The staff is some of the kindest I've encountered, ever. When you walk in, you are greeted by the friendliest smile by the hostess. Our waiter asked where we were from and welcomed us to town. He also took the time to chat with the boys and share his recommendations. The kiddos especially loved the etch-a-sketches that they used to sketch extensive blueprints of their dream homes. When I mentioned that I planned to eat every single clam chowder bowl in town, our waiter immediately said that their seafood chowder blows all the rest out of the water. How could I say no? The chowder was thick with bits of clam, scallops, fish, and shrimp all throughout. Every spoonful was packed with a seafood flavortown--they did not skimp here! My hubby and I devoured this so quickly. The boys enjoyed their kids meals, but really were focused on the etch-a-sketches--which I wasn't mad about. Gave my hubby and I a minute to actually have dinner. The chicken saltimbocca is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Pair that with a dip of the creamy whipped potatoes, lemon jus, and crispy prosciutto, and you've got one delicious bite after another. My aunt's go-to is the Braised short rib. I didn't get to try it but she said it's just to die for. Ok- so first I have to say I LOVE Scargo Cafe. It is one of my favorite restaurants- not only on Cape, but in all of New England- and I travel and eat out a lot. The food is always outstanding, the presentation superb, and the service is exceptional. This visit was a belated Birthday lunch- oh and did I mention that they call you on your Birthday and sing to you? It's amazing! They also give you 20% off your entire meal if you choose to dine in. That is fantastic. So we got their scrumptious French Onion Soup- there isn't one better. ANYWHERE. SO.MUCH. CHEESY.GOODNESS. So much flavor in the soup itself. We ordered the Arugula Salad-with Romaine lettuce instead, and chicken on the side, Pasta, with marinara- (a special request) and the incredible Shrimp Scampi Flatbread. I enjoyed my birthday dinner here at Scargo Cafe. The restaurant has great ambiance and is located on beautiful RTE 6A on Cape Cod. For starters, we shared the artichoke and spinach dip which was amazing. One of the best we ever had. The menu had great selections for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. I enjoyed the Mongolian Pork chop which I paired with an Australian Shiraz. The pork was cooked to perfection and the sides, braised red cabbage and mashed potatoes, were great. My spouse enjoyed the Tofu Power Bowl. She went with one of their signature cocktails, the Poinsettia. Service was attentive and timely. Though being on Thursday night in the middle of winter, the restaurant was pretty full. Highly recommend reservations any time of year and I can only imagine how busy this place is in the summer. read more

Back for another dinner. We started with cocktails - the Espresso Martini and the Cosmo. Both were perfectly prepared and well poured. As an appetizer we chose the Mediterranean Charcuterie. An excellent choice as a starter. For the dinner, the Honey ordered the Mongolian Pork Chop, her favorite, I, the Roasted Cod. These too, were perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. I would have liked something on the cod plate to absorb the delicious sauce of the Ratatouille but otherwise it was outstanding. We finished with coffee and the flourless chocolate torte. A decadent treat! The one complaint was that our food came out too quickly. We were not quite finished with our appetizer when the dinner plates arrived. A waitress/waiter can make or break your dining experience Anke did just that . Right from taking our orders, she engaged in conversation with us. She had many other customers to attend to but periodically came to check on us. As we continued our long overdue visit, Anke had a dessert that was not going to be used! She brought it to us with two spoons Even after the meal because the restaurant had a break from lunch to dinner break, Anke continued a conversation with us when she could have used the time as her break! As I was leaving,I heard one of the waitress signing I said how nice to be happy at work and she said, " we all love our jobs here" What a great atmosphere for the employees . She's bubbly and very friendly so we recommend you ask for her. Also the food was spectacular! So yummy! Best lobster linguine ever! One for two unfortunately . My wife's dinner, steak was very good. My lamb was served less than like warm . Our server said they would replace it. My meal came back , under Luke warm again, with different vegetables but the same rack of lamb, from which I had cut a piece the first time I was served. Having been meaning to try this restaurant for some time and today we made it. Plenty of parking. Very nice interior in a building that may have been a house. Excellent selection of menu options. Pleasant service. Warm bread was outstanding. Fish sandwich and shrimp salad were delicious and were prepared promptly. Pricing reasonable given food quality and presentation. Bar area looked very nice although we sat in the dining area. This restaurant will now be on our regular rotation for Cape Cod. First off, service was terrific and the room was well appointed and comfortable, as expected. Larry was a fine server. I ordered a virgin Mary which was fine but the olive that garnished it was not a fresh from the jar, beautiful olive, but a bruised one that was left over from last night's bar stock. Ick. Now to the food. I started off with a shrimp martini. I ordered the 'half' but received the 'whole' order. The shrimp were served nicely in a chilled silver martini coupe. The sauce was bright and tasty but the shrimp were obviously defrosted cooked shrimp and not house cooked. I wouldn't have minded getting the whole order if they were delicious, but alas they were not. Next I ordered the Eggs Benedict but asked for regular bacon rather than Canadian which was not a problem. The eggs were perfectly poached and the hollandaise was excellent. The side of breakfast potatoes was tasty. A mixed bag here. It was a little bit of a drive for us considering Cape Cod traffic on a Sunday morning so I doubt we'll go back. read more

Tried SCARGO for dinner last night. They were super crowded but do take reservations. Drinks selection was good. We started with oysters that were fresh and tasty. I ordered the short ribs with mashed potatoes. I wish it came with a vegetables also but didn't. It was really tender and delicious. My husband ordered the filet mignon with scalloped potatoes and vegetables. It was a nice fillet and he said it was delicious. Our waitress was wonderful. So attentive and accommodating.
