This was my first time here and I was quickly sat, there was a lot of open tables and the decorations were pretty cool. The menu was very large and it was hard to decide on what to get. I decided to get the tom yum shrimp over baked spaghetti and the dish came out really fast. I was concerned that the tomyum flavor was going to overwhelm the spaghetti but it didn't and it was really good. I would definitely come back and try other dishes.

We came here this morning for my sister's birthday, her birthday breakfast. We came fairly early in the morning around 9:00 so it was not busy at all. The decor inside the restaurant was really cute. Two large trees, fake trees, inside the actual restaurant! I would say it's also a fairly large cafe with at least 20+ plus tables maybe more so this place probably does get busier at peak times. They have a separate breakfast menu and lunch menu and possibly dinner menu. Will only be speaking of their breakfast menu. My sister got the Western breakfast which was a pork chop, hot dog, and scrambled egg. The drink was honey tea. The pork chop was really yummy and was pretty much tasted like a pork katsu with how it was breaded. The portion was a good size as well. My other sister got the braised beef soup with rice noodle. With an Ovaltine drink. The beef was tender. The broth mild. My sister noted it wasn't too salty. I ordered the ham an egg macaroni soup. My drink was a honey citrone iced. I really liked the texture and extra long tubular size of the macaroni. I was expecting like the macaroni you would see in a mac and cheese box so this was pleasantly different and new to me. The broth is very mild and simple. I like that they offer a drink with your breakfast entree. The portions are good. The service , our waitress was friendly. Fyi, for those with little kids , they have high chairs and we got kid safe drink cups. The food is good, came out hot and fresh and fast. Would like to come back to try their lunch and dinner menus.

Saw this place on IG and decided to try. When you walk in the place seems a little chaotic. There are no signs anywhere besides the register. We quickly realized that a lot of people who entered were placing their names on a clipboard to the left. We did the same and the wait time was about 10min. The waiters call your name based on tables available. So 2-3 people usually get called up first. Bigger parties get called once tables are available. So if you have a bigger party on the weekend, be prepared to wait. You can also place an order at the register if you choose takeout, no need to wait. We got seated pretty fast and were handed menus right away. The waitress also brought us cups and water. The menu looked amazing. We ended up ordering the following: 1. Beef stew with crispy noodles - 7/10 we went with the pictured selection instead of rice and I think rice would have been q better option. The dish itself was huge and really good. 2. Tomyum spaghetti - 9/10 this portion was HUGE. The tomyum mixed with spaghetti was really good. 3. Hot coffee - 10/10 my husbands favorite. They sweeten this ahead of time. 4. Lemon honey tea - 10/10 wow was this drink good! 5. Cold cucumber salad - 10/10 huge portion but it came out after our meals. I will say the portions are shareable and extra plates can be given. if you go with one more person, I would suggest sharing. it is kind of hard to get a waiter during lunch time but they made sure we got everything we needed. I will be back to try the ovaltine French toast!

This a cozy place! Quick and attentive services. Lots of menu options: appetizers, main dishes, soups, beverages. My friend and I ordered: Hai-Nan Chicken Rice; Chicken Wings; Fishballs Curry and Butter Toast. Love the chicken rice. Chicken meat is flavourful, tender & moist. Meanwhile, the fried chicken wings have unique flavors. It's crispy outside; yet, the meat is very juicy. For the fishballcurry, it's just okay; personally I think, it's a bit salty. *Overall experience was good. I'll come back to try other menus & desserts.

Parking is available in the shopping center. Always fun eating under a tree inside the restaurant. We were greeted and seated quickly. All the waitstaff carry portable computers to put your order in quickly. Always love the generous portion of hainan rice dish. I ordered the hainan chicken plate: big chunks of chicken, hainan rice, peanuts appetizer and the lovely ginger scallion sauce. The spices make this dish delicious. I needed a box to take home leftovers. The other dish we ordered was beef stew. This tastes so classic with the subtle 5 spice flavor shining throughout this dish. The spices are not overwhelming. Probably could cook the beef tendons longer and they were quite chewy.

This is one of our favorite Hong Kong cafes we go to! It's close to where we live so we often go for lunch/dinner. The location has a lot of seatings and it's always busy here. Although the service is always quick! The portions are big here so I can never finish a meal by myself. They have a huge menu and lots of variety of food to choose from. My favorite is the baked spaghetti and the HK milk tea. Definitely stop by here if you're around!

Always loved the interior. This time tried the Fukien Fried Rice and the Crispy Noodle Beef Stew on Iron Plate. Service as fast and accurate.

Bad experience all around. Made reservations for 8 people, and when we arrived to check in, the guy in front says to wait and they are getting our table ready. They had a sign up list and I asked if I should put our name on it, and he said "no", we will sit you ASAP. We had a 1 pm reservation. Anyway, there were two parties of 8 that put their name on the list afterwards and our family was waiting 30 minutes already, and he sat the first party already before us. My son asked him again, and he said to wait again, and we gave him the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, we said if he sat the next party of 8 before us again, then that's really mess up. Guess what, he sat those parties first before us and completely forgot our reservation at 1pm. I finally got his attention and told him that we have been waiting for an hour and asked why he sat two parties without reservations and not us. He acted like he forgot and said next one will be us with no apologies whatsoever. We could have put our name in the list and got seated in less than 30 minutes but instead we waited for more than an hour, and to make things worse, they seated our family in two separate tables. I was so annoyed by this time, and we said like sure, that's fine. We were so hungry by this time. Ok the review, the place is cute with fake trees inside. Decent size, not a huge place. I've eaten here a few times and the food is always just okay every time I go. But after this experience, never again. Venus Tam Cafe is way better or go next door, Hanoi Chicken noodle soup. I think two stars is being generous here! Improvement suggestions, they should tell people there's no reservations and it's first come first serve basis. Just put name on the list and they go in order. Also, I felt discriminated here because I feel like he was nicer to the Chinese families. The other times I have went, I was with a Chinese friend, and it was a more descent service.

One of my girlfriends told me this place was good so I gave it a try since I was in the area. Right when I entered I noticed the 2 huge faux tree that they have inside which I thought was really interesting and cool. It made me feel like I eas sitting outside lol. I originally came for Hainan chicken but saw that that had salt and pepper wings so I ordered that too since I came with a big appetite. You can order full or half order of the Hainan chicken but it was only me so I order the rice plate option, which was the perfect portion for me. There were 6 salt and pepper chicken wings in the order. My bill was $37 with tip, not bad.

Solid HK style cafe in San Leandro. Stopped by around 6 on a Saturday and the restaurant was packed. Very clean and modern interior compared to the typical older places in Chinatown. We ordered the Fukien fried rice, fish soup with pickled greens, and beef cube. The Fukien fried rice was my favorite-good ratio of gravy to rice with ample meat toppings with great flavor. The fish soup had a unique taste and came with ample fish too. The beef cube had well seasoned stew meat-just wish the cube was more crispy since it was mostly soft (family had come here before and said it was super crispy the last time). Otherwise, excited to come back to try other dishes here!

Baby café is one of my friends and I favorite late night cafés to go to for really yummy Asian food. I almost always ordered the baked pork chop, which is essentially a baked pork chop with rice and this cheesy tomato sauce. It's oven baked so it's piping hot. It's so good. Just note that if you order this dish and any of the other baked or sizzling dishes that it's gonna take a little bit longer usually 20 minutes at least. Would highly recommend for late night Hong Kong food. It's also really aesthetic as you can tell by the photos. Very cute vibes.

I have been on a HK cha chaan teng streak lately, so when we were visiting my hometown back in December, I noticed there was a HK cafe close by in the next town over. It was a Monday, so thankfully it wasn't too busy for lunch, and we were seated right away. I always try to practice my Cantonese whenever I visit any HK cafes, and this was no different. The staff were friendly, and I started off by ordering their signature iced baby milk tea, which comes in a cute little cup with ice shaped in baby form. It was authentic and strong, just as I like my HK milk tea. We were also served hot tea upon arrival. The 海南雞飯 was really catching my eye, especially after I had seen multiple people review the dish, so that's what I decided on for lunch. Meanwhile, my husband ordered the beef stew noodle soup. While we waited, we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, with its tall ceilings and bright interior. I loved the addition of the foliage as well. My 海南雞飯 was plated beautifully. I especially liked that there was plenty of ginger and scallion oil for me to coat my chicken in. I've been to restaurants where I run out before I finish my chicken. The peanuts were deliciously crispy and salty, and the rice was flavorful. The chicken itself was cold, smooth, and slightly gelatinous, which I didn't mind. The cucumbers were a nice touch on the side too. My husband's beef stew noodle soup came with a small bowl, so he served me some. It had a nice depth of flavor, and the beef was tender. The egg noodles were bouncy and delightful. Overall, we had a solid experience at Baby Cafe, and I would definitely return to try some other dishes they offer (one of them being the Hainan chicken noodle soup)!

Love this place! We tried the hainan whole chicken, eel clay pot, wonton soup, beef chow fun, and the strawberry milk. Everything was so good, no complaints! The atmosphere is so nice, very modern, clean, welcoming. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. We will be back

The frustration in driving in a circle. The ambiance of the restaurant is basically a Hong Kong Cafe style. There are two areas catering small parties to big parties. The lighting is terrible though, the florescent lighting is just not for me. The food here is pretty good. They have a huge selection. Hayward doesn't have a lot of Asian catering restaurants that are cheap eats. Yeah, they opened a new banquet, but not a lot of fast, cheap foods. 1. Pork Congee with Thousand Year Old Egg - Typically very flavorful. I like to come grab a bowl when I'm not feeling well to cook. 2. Honey Walnut Shrimp - How can you go wrong? Such a western staple. 3. Pork Chow Fun - Large portion, reasonably priced, tasty enough. 4. Salt & Pepper Fish Fillet - Surprisingly one of my favorite things on the menu. Sharable portions, enough for maybe 2-4 people. 5. Salt & Pepper Prawns - Typically I would say standard, but I don't believe I enjoyed the prawns as much. 6. Mongolian Beef - Standard, soft, best with rice. 7. Salt & Pepper Pork Chops - I could live without this. 8. Combo Pan Fried Noodles - I love me a crispy noodle with gravy I can pour over because it leaves a good texture. 9. Chicken Fried Rice - Standard, sharable 10. Quality/Quantity - My daughter craved Pho so we came to this place. It has been a VERY long time since we ate here. Actually, the previous time was with the previous owners/business. Today we got the following: Fish Ball Noodle Soup with Pho Noodles - Of course my daughter's choice and with NO veggies?!?! This looked so plain... I know I could have made this better at home! My wife shared some of her wontons with my daughter to add to the flavor. See pictures. I am sure this is NOT what my daughter had in mind when she craved Pho. This was much more of a "Chinese" dish rather than Vietnamese. Update - My daughter mentioned that she could not find regular thinly sliced beef pho as an option. And she thought fish balls were beef balls... Wonton Noodle Soup - Also as plain as my daughter's dish. Again, more of a Chinese dish rather than Vietnamese. #24 Fried Pork Chop, Chicken, Egg with Steamed Rice - Fried fresh and perfectly done! My pork chop and chicken were 5 stars! Everything else was just okay. Ambiance - Very small local business. Decent size parking lot, but not enough spaces for this busy mall. We got lucky and got a space fairly close to the restaurant. Not stressed as we planned to shop at Foodnet after lunch. Service - Had to ask for everything. Hard to get their attention as they just hung around the first booth talking and talking and talking. The hardest worker was the runner, probably the only employee that was not family...? Price - $66 + more generous tip than deserved or earned. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2024. And your previous location in Oakland, etc. The previous location was known for their chicken, chicken noodle soup, etc.

On this visit, I ordered the Black Pepper Beef Pen (Pan) Fried Spaghetti, Baked Minced Meat Spaghetti, Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, Egg Puff, and a whole Hainan chicken for takeout. The Black Pepper Beef Pan Fried Spaghetti is one of my staple orders. They are very consistent with the noodle texture and flavor, and it usually comes out very quickly. The Baked Minced Meat Spaghetti is my go to HK comfort food, and the version here is my favorite. It is on the "drier" side compared to other spots, with more focus on the ground beef and onions instead of sauce. As a carnivore, I also appreciate that there are no vegetables mixed in. The cheese layer on top is always solid. The Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings are very good about 90 percent of the time. Crispy on the outside and juicy and tender inside. The other 10% of the time, they do overcook a bit every now and then, but I'll give them a pass. The Egg Puff is not always perfect in terms of texture or appearance, but the flavor is consistent and I like to end my meal with it as a nice dessert. Service is attentive when they are not too busy. On this visit, they kept my water topped up and brought extra napkins without me asking after noticing I had used mine up. Overall, Baby Cafe continues to be my go to for Hong Kong comfort food. Not perfect every time, but consistent enough that I keep coming back.
